Chapter 118: The Fourth Warrior

~6 min read 1,189 words

When John entered the judging room, he found that the space inside was not small, and many trophies were displayed in various cabinets.

Krum was standing in front of the fireplace in the room, while Fleur was sitting on the sofa beside the fireplace.

The two turned their heads to look at the same time after hearing footsteps.

"Hello there, I am the Warrior representative from Hogwarts, my name is John Merrick."

John greeted them very familiarly.

"Viktor Krum."

Krum just nodded faintly.

And Fleur was curiously looking at John, because John's height really didn't look like a senior student.

"Little brother, did you just turn 14?"

"No, I'm only 12."

John responded with a smile.

But this answer stunned both of them.

"Isn't the rule that you have to be at least 14 to participate?"

Fleur reacted the fastest and asked John questioningly.

John walked to the trophy cabinet on his own, looking at these trophies curiously while responding with a smile.

"No, Miss Delacour."

"The only rule of the Triwizard Tournament is that the Warrior selected by the Goblet of Fire participates."

"And the Goblet of Fire selected me."

As he spoke, he also raised the charred slip of paper that had just been spat out by the Goblet of Fire to the two of them.

The two were silent for a moment, clearly not knowing how to refute this.

After all, the age limit was just a rule added for this Triwizard Tournament, not an iron law.

Krum frowned slightly.

"Your school's Headmaster should have set a barrier around the Goblet of Fire; did he let you in to sign up?"

"No, I went in myself; the Age Line didn't stop me."

Once these words were spoken, the two were even more surprised.

They didn't even believe what John said; after all, that was the Age Line set by Dumbledore.

John felt secretly pleased in his heart; the feeling of showing off is really great.

After that, the three of them didn't have any more conversation.

John began to look at this place.

It was his first time coming in here; this should be the trophy display room, but it was temporarily used as a lounge for the judges.

The trophies displayed in the cabinet spanned a great age, from mottled ancient bronze to shiny modern trophies.

These are real antiques; wouldn't I get rich if I stole a few and sold them?

John's gaze wandered among the trophies, not waiting for his hands to itch to take one out and look at it.

A noisy sound arose from the outside.

The three Warriors looked at the door one after another; the first to walk in was a bewildered Harry Potter.

Harry was still holding a charred piece of parchment in his hand, exactly the same as the parchment used by the three of them to sign up.

John was stunned when he saw Harry and the paper in his hand, and immediately reacted.

He had forgotten that this guy was the protagonist of this story.

In such a high-profile event, how could the protagonist be absent.

But doesn't this mean there will be a fourth Warrior...

Am I going to have to compete with the protagonist for this spot?

"What's wrong? Can we go out?"

Fleur was the first to ask the strange boy.

She didn't think about the fourth Warrior, thinking he was a student coming to pass a message.

But Harry opened his mouth and couldn't speak, his face as pale as paper.

At this moment, more noisy footsteps came from behind.

Dumbledore, Maxime, Karkaroff, Crouch, and several Hogwarts professors including McGonagall.

"I protest!"

"Dumbledore! You must give us an explanation!"

The first to make a sound was Durmstrang Headmaster Mr. Karkaroff.

He looked indignant, his tone extremely intense, pointing his finger at the bewildered Harry Potter.

"Dumbledore, Hogwarts cannot have two Warriors; this is unfair."

Madame Maxime also echoed Karkaroff's words, her expression cold.

Dumbledore raised his hand to signal everyone to be quiet, his gaze lingering on Harry, then asked calmly.

"Harry, did you put your name into the Goblet of Fire?"

"No!"

Seeing that someone was finally willing to listen to him, Harry hurriedly shook his head and said excitedly.

"Then did you let a senior student help you sign up?"

"No! I didn't even think about participating!"

Harry still insisted on the previous statement.

Hearing this, Dumbledore nodded, patted his shoulder, and signaled him not to worry.

Fleur and Krum, who were watching the show, also realized from this questioning that Harry seemed to have become the fourth Warrior.

And John had an 'as expected' expression.

On the other side, Karkaroff was relentless.

"He must be lying!"

"No, Harry has no need to lie."

Professor McGonagall stood up to defend Harry.

"In fact, Potter likes to lie."

Professor Snape on the side said gloomily.

Hearing this, Professor McGonagall glared at Snape, and Snape then closed his mouth.

At this moment, Crouch, who had been silent, spoke.

He looked at the leaping flames in the fireplace and said slowly.

"The Goblet of Fire is a powerful magical object; its setting is to select only one Warrior from each of the three schools."

"But now there are four Warriors, proving that someone used a Confundus Charm to fabricate a fourth school."

Hearing Crouch's words, everyone looked at each other.

This meant that someone had tampered with the rules of the Goblet of Fire, and the means were extremely brilliant.

"In other words, someone wanted Harry Potter to participate..."

This time, it was Mad-Eye Moody who spoke.

He leaned on his cane, his magic eye spinning non-stop, scanning everyone present.

"It couldn't be that this little wizard used a Confundus Charm to confuse the Goblet of Fire and signed up for himself, after all, you even broke through Dumbledore's Age Line."

As he spoke, he looked playfully at John on the side.

?

What kind of talk is this! What kind of talk is this!

Hearing this, John stood up abruptly, aggressively... hiding behind Professor McGonagall.

"Professor, he is slandering me!"

Moody: "......"

John shrank behind Professor McGonagall, poking out half his face and glaring at Moody indignantly.

Professor McGonagall was also speechless, having to cough twice lightly and pat John, signaling him not to make trouble first.

"I believe John, and I also believe Harry's words just now."

"Harry did not sign up voluntarily; someone signed him up, and that person wanted Harry to participate to achieve some purpose."

Dumbledore spoke again; he already had the answer in his heart, looking at the still bewildered Harry.

He didn't know what he was thinking, but his gaze gradually became heavy.

"No, Dumbledore, you are..."

Karkaroff still wanted to continue protesting something, but Dumbledore just scanned him faintly; with just one glance, Karkaroff instantly felt like falling into an ice cellar, closing his mouth and not daring to speak again.

Everyone present also realized that what Dumbledore cared about at this time was no longer the Triwizard Tournament.

But the dark force that had quietly sneaked into the castle. ===== CHAPTER 119 =====
