Chapter 2: The Magical World
After the knocking sound rings out, Mr. Merick goes to the entryway to open the door and finds two strange men standing outside whom they have never seen before.
"Good afternoon, Mr. Merick. We are from the British Ministry of Magic, Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. You can call me David, and this is Mike."
After opening the door, the leading middle-aged man with blonde hair takes off the hat on his head, places it in front of his chest, and greets Mr. Merick politely like a gentleman.
The other young man with blonde hair behind him also takes off his hat and nods in greeting.
"Oh, hello. Sorry, who did you just say you are from? What is the British Ministry of Magic? What is the matter?"
Hearing the self-introduction of the two people outside the door, Mr. Merick is a bit unsure what this Ministry of Magic they speak of is. Could it be some new prank activity?
However, because both of their behaviors are normal and very polite, Mr. Merick doesn't immediately close the door and turn them away.
"In fact, we are here because you and your son witnessed the flying car this morning."
"?"
Hearing David's words, a question mark appears on Mr. Merick's head. John, inside the house, also walks to the entryway with his mother, looking puzzled.
"So, you mean, magic exists in this world, and our son has magical talent?"
Mr. Merick asks in disbelief. After what just happened, his mind is a mess.
John's eyes are also full of surprise. Just now, the two staff members claiming to be from the Ministry of Magic introduced their family to a magical world they had never imagined.
And they demonstrated some transformation magic and levitation magic in front of them, making them have to believe in the existence of real magic in this world.
According to Mr. David's description, magic has always existed in this world, but in the last few hundred years, all wizards have hidden themselves, mixing into this society without letting Muggles discover them.
Muggles are what the wizarding world calls those ordinary people without magical talent.
And in order to manage the wizarding group, wizards of various countries have established institutions to manage wizards. The wizarding manager of England is the Ministry of Magic.
The reason the Ministry of Magic people visited today is because that flying car incident was discovered by many Muggles like his father, so the Ministry of Magic specially sent people to clean up and erase the memories of these Muggles.
It's just that among the witnesses this time, there is a special person, and that is John.
His existence of magical talent was just detected a month ago, his name appeared on the Book of Admissions at Hogwarts, and he was also registered at the Ministry of Magic.
But strangely, John was detected by the Book of Admissions without any magical outburst or accidental spellcasting.
So there was no Ministry of Magic person coming to handle a magical accident, leading to their family not knowing about the existence of magic.
And he was born into a Muggle family, is currently not yet 11 years old, cannot enter Hogwarts, and is not considered to have officially stepped into the wizarding world.
So whether to erase their family's memories has become a multiple-choice question.
As the person in charge of the cleanup this time, David decided to handle it in a more humane way, because he was also born into a Muggle family, so he has no prejudice against Muggles.
"Yes, sir. According to normal procedures, your son will receive an admission letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry when he turns 11 on August 2nd next year. Only then will you know of the existence of the wizarding world."
"And given this reason, we have decided not to erase your memories for the time being, but we need you to guarantee that you will never reveal anything about the wizarding world to other Muggles."
"Because once you violate the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy, the Ministry of Magic will take legal measures against you. I hope you remember this."
David takes a sip of the tea for guests and says slowly.
"Is that magic school called Hogwarts mandatory?"
Mrs. Merick, regarding her son having one-in-a-million magical talent, feels no surprise, but rather some worry.
After all, she has to let her child suddenly run to a school she has never heard of to learn magic. How could she be at ease?
"Mrs. Merick, I understand your feelings. Although theoretically, enrollment is not mandatory."
"But if you really want what's best for your child, please let him go to the magic school to receive formal magical learning."
"Because as he grows older, the magic power in your child's body will become more and more. If he doesn't learn reasonable usage, this magic power will eventually cause an outburst, which will cause greater harm and even attract legal sanctions from the Ministry of Magic."
David speaks very euphemistically. Although enrollment is not mandatory, if he doesn't enroll, something will happen sooner or later, so he still has to enroll.
"You don't need to worry too much. Hogwarts is the safest place in all of England, and the current headmaster is served by the strongest white wizard of this century. It is very safe there."
"And there are many children there just like your son. There, he can get to know many friends who can use magic just like him. There, your child can grow freely."
Just as David is talking eloquently about how good Hogwarts is, the staff member Mike next to him who hasn't spoken finally can't help it and coughs twice: "Um, senior, we aren't here to help Hogwarts recruit students..."
"Uh... Hahaha, look at my brain. Sorry."
"It's been so many years since graduation, and I still yearn for that place."
"These things will naturally be introduced to you by Hogwarts teachers next year. You can digest it well. We came today because we hope you can keep today's events secret. Otherwise, perhaps the day after you leak it, we will have to come find you again."
David realizes he has gone seriously off-topic, quickly stands up and laughs, briefly repeats the matter of secrecy, and hurriedly prepares to leave with his junior.
"By the way, little John, this book is for you, consider it my gift."
Before leaving, David takes out a thick "Basic Guide to Magical Families" from somewhere and gives it to John.
Before John has time to thank him, with a "pop," the two people suddenly distort and disappear in the hallway.
Looking at the two people who suddenly disappeared, John's family looks at each other. John's parents also have to accept this sudden news.
No matter who has lived for decades, suddenly being told that there is magic in this world, they will all be caught off guard for a while.
Returning to the house and sitting down, looking at his parents' hesitant expressions, John takes the initiative to speak.
"Dad, Mom, I hope I can go to that Hogwarts to learn magic."
Having lived for decades in the world of ordinary people, parents subconsciously think that they should let their children receive education, then find an iron rice bowl job, and it is best to get married and start a career normally.
But at this time, a magic full of fantasy colors suddenly appears. They have no corresponding experience and don't know what the future of this wizard will be, whether there will be any danger, and whether he can survive in this society.
So they are all hesitating whether to let their child go to magic school.
The best choice in their hearts is actually to let John learn basic control of magic power to prevent it from going out of control.
But John's acceptance of this is very strong. After all, he has already transmigrated; what else is impossible?
This makes John even more excited, wanting to see the magical world in David's mouth, and wanting to learn the magic they cast casually.
Hearing John's choice, Mrs. Merick instinctively opens her mouth to say something, but after seeing John's serious eyes, she falls silent for a moment.
"... Okay, since you want to go, John, Dad and Mom support you." Finally, mother nods and says with a smile.
Mr. Merick also nods: "Going to magic school to study, that's good too. I think this will be an unforgettable experience." ===== CHAPTER 3 =====
