Chapter 234: Disarm Spell

~6 min read 1,200 words

Inside the Wish-Granting House.

Harry stood in the center of the training ground, while everyone else stood in front of him.

John was no exception.

After all, this was Harry's home turf, and the proper respect had to be given.

It would be even better if the classmates could go to Harry for questions instead of just coming to him.

"Um, today we'll first learn the Disarm Spell; it's a very practical spell, the obvious choice when facing an opponent."

Harry drew his wand and gave it a wave, and the training Dummy in the corner slowly moved to the front of the group.

The Dummy held a Fake Wand in its hand.

"The incantation for the Disarm Spell is—Ex-pel-li-ar-mus, Expelliarmus."

"When waving the wand, just let your wrist drive your palm, flicking lightly like a falling water droplet, then point at the opponent."

Saying that, Harry demonstrated for everyone.

He briskly swung his wand, and a red flash burst out instantly, striking the Dummy's wrist with precision.

Clack! The Fake Wand shot out three meters away.

"Pay attention to the incantation's pronunciation and the Magic Spell's gestures."

At first Harry was a bit nervous, but as he got into the flow his voice steadied and his eyes gained a hint of experience.

Among the school's students, Harry's skill was already top‑ranked, especially in combat spells.

He learned the Guardian God Spell in Third Year, underwent Professor Moody's Demon Training in Fourth Year, endured three challenges, and then faced Voldemort.

"Now, pair up and practice with a partner each."

Harry said this again, and everyone instinctively grouped with the partners they were most familiar with.

John was naturally paired with Hermione, no explanation needed.

Titus, Ryan, and Ethan formed a group: I hit you, you hit him, he hits me—perfect.

Luna was invited by Neville to practice together.

Qiu Zhang practiced with the boys she brought, one of whom seemed to be named Cedric, the Quidditch Seeker on Titus's side.

"Mr. Merick, don't let your guard get too lax, okay?"

Hermione led John to a corner of the training ground, then raised an eyebrow and laughed at him.

"Feeling confident, Miss Granger, shall I watch with anticipation?"

The two exchanged smiles, each raised their wand, assuming a dueling stance.

Then.

"Flame Spell!"

"Expelliarmus!!"

Both launched their attacks; John assumed Hermione would follow Harry's lesson and cast a Disarm Spell at him for practice.

He intended to cast the Disarm Spell as well, then directly deflect Hermione's Disarm Spell.

But the No Martial Virtue guy started with a Flame Spell??

When the sparks rose, John had no time to cast a spell; he quickly raised an Iron Armor Spell for defense.

The sparks crackled, dazzling his vision, and Hermione's sly giggle lingered in his ears.

"Idiot, you really thought I'd naively duel you with a Disarm Spell?"

"No Martial Virtue!"

John swiped forcefully, flicking the flame aside, then accused Hermione.

"Alright, alright, I'll just use the Disarm Spell then."

Hermione laughed at John's teasing, waved her hand and said gently.

Both raised their wands again; Hermione's eyes held mischief, while John tensed, fearing Hermione might pull another No Martial Virtue move.

Hermione saw that John wasn't about to strike first, and a slight smile curled her lips.

That was the effect she wanted—preemptive strike.

"Expelliarmus!"

Hermione suddenly swung her wand at him, and John directly flicked his wand to deflect the red beam.

But Hermione seemed to anticipate John's response; her wand twirled lightly, and a second Disarm Spell slashed out at an oblique, tricky angle, targeting the inner side of the wrist he had just deflected.

John was slightly startled, and on the spot he turned around following his wrist motion.

The Disarm Spell brushed his sleeve as it passed; Hermione apparently hadn't expected John to react so quickly.

In the next instant, the now‑spun John swung his wand, firing the Disarm Spell.

Hermione only then recovered, quickly deflecting John's spell.

But as she just deflected the red light, John's wrist dropped, and the second Disarm Spell shot up diagonally—from below—using the same tricky angle she had just employed.

Hermione intended to dodge, but it was already too late.

John's spell speed was far quicker than hers.

The red flash precisely struck Hermione's wrist; her wand flew out, tracing a silver arc in the air before landing steadily in John's hand.

She staggered back half a step, stared briefly, then couldn't help but laugh, "You used my move against me on purpose, didn't you?"

"I admit it~"

John chuckled, deftly twirled the wand between his fingers, and handed it to Hermione.

Hermione let out a light hum, took back her wand, and readied her stance again.

"Again!"

"Always ready to accompany."

The two went back and forth, practicing the Disarm Spell on each other.

Hermione also now and then invoked No Martial Virtue, switching to a Magic Spell to ambush him.

It forced him to stay highly alert at all times to cope.

Harry, who was overlooking the whole field from the center of the training ground, smiled faintly at the scene.

Sure enough, the two didn't need his instruction....

Afterward, Harry went to guide the classmates who still couldn't master the Disarm Spell.

Senior students, although they hadn't studied the Disarm Spell much, had a solid foundation and could grasp it overall with a little prompting.

Junior students kept making mistakes: some swung their wand too slowly, their spells limp and weak; others mispronounced the tone, and the red light from the wand tip shattered into sparks.

Harry went straight to a Third Year XiaoHuan, grabbed his wrist, and helped correct his movements.

Then with a flick, the classmate opposite XiaoHuan was knocked straight out.

XiaoHuan widened his eyes, "Aren't we learning the Disarm Spell?"

"Your Magic Spell, my Magic Spell, seem different."

From then on, another person who treated the Disarm Spell as a killing move appeared.

The training continued in full swing.

A whole morning was enough for everyone to master the basic essentials, and most could cast the Disarm Spell.

Only the proficiency still needed honing.

Thus, the first training proved quite effective.

"Alright, that's all for today."

Soon the morning passed, and at lunch time, Harry gathered everyone again.

"After you go back, you can practice diligently; the Disarm Spell will be one of your most reliable defenses when facing danger in the future."

Harry was fully in the zone, speaking openly with the so‑called adult admonitions and expectations.

It was his first time as a teacher, and he did it properly.

After that, everyone dispersed.

This Training Session gathered many classmates who didn't know each other, but now they left in groups of three to five.

It was clear they got along fairly well.

When leaving, Hermione went back to the dorm to drop off her bag, so she didn't walk with John.

Thus John followed Titus and a few others toward the Great Hall.

"Hey, John."

Just as they had left the Wish-Granting House, Qiu Zhang suddenly came over with Cedric to strike up a conversation with him.

"Hmm? Senior Qiu Zhang, and..."

"Hello, Meilik, I am Cedric Diggory, pleased to meet you."
