Chapter 282: Future Career Planning
After leaving Dumbledore's office, John walked up the spiral staircase and arrived on the first floor.
He planned to go to the Library to find Hermione.
They had arranged to study together today, but in truth Hermione just wanted to get close to him.
After hearing his account of everything yesterday, Hermione felt a wave of dread.
John's parents, as well as himself, almost lost their lives in the plot set by Voldemort.
So she wasn't sure whether some psychological mechanism had been triggered.
She suddenly clung to John, fearing as if he might disappear.
If he hadn't said today that he was going to find Dumbledore to learn the Door Key, which would later ensure his family's safety.
She even refused to let John leave.
"Meilik!"
At that moment, three people suddenly blocked John's path.
Leading them was Draco Malfoy, with Gao Er and Kela Bu behind him.
All three wore faces full of anger and hatred.
"It's you who got my father caught by the Ministry of Magic!"
Malfoy raised his wand, pointed it at John, and said furiously.
"You also caused my father's death! You..."
Gao Er roared in the same vein.
"Shut up, Gao Er!"
Draco, already angry, shouted straight at Gao Er after being cut off.
"On what grounds! I'll kill him!"
Gao Er, however, ignored Draco, his eyes reddened as he roared, now only wanting to avenge his own father.
He had received news of his father's death last night and had endured for this moment for a long time.
John, from start to finish, said nothing, merely staring at them coldly.
Kela Bu's father also died in the same battle; he no longer wanted to hear Draco, and swung his wand to fire a rough Stun Curse at John.
A dazzling red light burst from the wand tip, yet John didn't even blink.
At the instant the spell was about to hit, he lifted his wand with his left hand and flicked the red light away.
"Damn!"
Draco didn't care and waved his wand: "All Stone!"
Gao Er also roared, lunged forward, and swung his wand: "Fierce Flame!"
Flame Spell and Stone Curse came together, but without exception John twirled his wand tip lightly and flung them onto the ceiling.
The Flame Spell was shattered, while the Stone Curse petrified nothing.
John walked toward them slowly, his steps neither hurried nor sluggish.
The three, seeing John unharmed, each stepped back.
Then each used all their strength to attack John again.
But they still could not inflict any harm on John.
Instead, John forced all three to retreat repeatedly.
"Huh, huh, damn...."
John had already pressed forward to stand before Draco.
Bang!
Suddenly, John landed a heavy punch squarely on Draco's stomach.
Draco arched his back and fell to his knees, his stomach churning, even bile spitting out.
Seeing this, Gao Er also tried to lunge at John with a punch.
But John raised his hand, and a stone pillar shot out from the wall, striking Gao Er sideways and hurling him hard against the wall.
On the other side, Kela Bu, seeing this, tried to flee, but John waved his hand again.
He used a Floating Spell to control him, slamming him against the wall, spitting blood.
Finally, John drove a heavy foot onto Draco's chest, his boot crushing the expensive Slytherin robe and producing a squeaking leather creak.
Draco only felt his ribs crack under the boot's weight with a strained 'crack' sound.
John finally spoke for the first time.
"You should be grateful this is at school."
"If it were off‑campus, you could follow your beloved fathers into reincarnation."
John said coldly to Gao Er and Kela Bu.
"Since they killed, they should be prepared for being killed."
"You are the same."
"As for you, Malfoy, you may keep challenging me; I don't mind your father in prison also receiving news of your death."
When John said this, there was no emotional fluctuation; his voice was as steady as if discussing the weather.
But Draco could sense that John was absolutely serious...
Having witnessed Mr. Weasley almost being killed, Neville's parents have lain in Sheng Mang Ge for over a decade.
Now his parents also almost died, and Mr. David, who had only a two‑sided connection with him, died because of him.
John's attitude toward the Death Eaters is now only the thrill after killing.
And their three Death Eater descendants aren't any good either; if they wish to follow in their fathers' footsteps, John doesn't mind reuniting father and son.
John's shoe soles slowly loosened, Draco coughed up a mouthful of blood‑foam, his pupils still held the lingering fear.
Then John gently exhaled a breath of gloom, returned to his normal state, no longer gave them another look, and turned to leave.
Library.
John, as if nothing had happened, came to Hermione's side.
"John, you're here."
Seeing John arrive, Hermione grabbed his wrist and pulled him to sit beside her.
Her desk was still covered with all kinds of books, but not for study.
Instead they were various wizard career plans, introductions to the functions of each department of the Ministry of Magic, and past recruitment standards.
"Hermione, what are you looking at?"
John asked strangely.
"The OWLS Exam is coming up soon."
"Professor Maige said that during this period we can consider our future career plans."
"So we can respond to different directions, make appropriate adjustments and efforts."
Hermione pushed the comprehensive wizard career planning guide in front of John.
"So what do you want to do in the future?"
"I want to join the Ministry of Magic!" Hermione said earnestly.
"Oh… the Ministry of Magic."
John nodded thoughtfully.
To be honest, he had never thought about what he wanted to do in the future.
What he excelled at now were Magic Spell, Transfiguration, Dark Defense, and Magic Potion.
The others weren't bad, but not top‑tier either.
After all, his energy was all focused on getting stronger.
"Which department of the Ministry of Magic do you want to go to?"
"Law Enforcement Department." Hermione answered without hesitation.
"Whoa, Hermione, that's a hardcore goal."
The Law Enforcement Department can be said to be the Ministry's most central department.
The Auror Office falls under its jurisdiction, and even Dementors must obey its orders.
Most former Ministers of the Ministry of Magic rose through the Law Enforcement Department.
"Of course, I'm telling you, if you break the law again, watch out—I'll lock you in the little black room!"
Hermione said that, and pretended to threaten John.
"Is it the Ministry of Magic's little black room, or the one in your house?"
John laughed and asked back.
Hermione was startled at first when she heard the question, but quickly recovered.
Blushing, she slapped John's arm, her ears turning red: "You, you… you indecent one!"
