Chapter 30: Quidditch
"Almost... was going to explain it here..."
Titus said while panting on the lawn.
"Hiss, that branch whipped my face; you guys look at how my face is now?"
Ethan said while covering his face, hissing in pain.
"It's nothing, it's just that you should have a red mark left for the next few days."
John glanced at it and waved his hand, saying indifferently.
"This place... is not as safe as it is rumored outside..."
Ryan complained while panting.
John remembered what Professor Snape said during his home visit before school started: as long as you don't cause trouble everywhere like some idiots, it's safe...
"Perhaps, except for death-seeking?"
"......"
The few were silent one after another; this secret passage they couldn't go to for the time being; the Whomping Willow stood there like a wild boss, and they couldn't get in at all without being able to beat it.
Either use brute force to break through, or find the mechanism of the Whomping Willow.
Obviously, neither was something they could do now.
Fortunately, there were no people wandering around the school today, and no one saw this scene of theirs, so they didn't need to be punished by the professor.
However, the grand plan of unlocking the new map had just begun and was directly aborted because of the Whomping Willow.
"Let's go, return to the castle first; we haven't fully explored that place yet."
John didn't care; game maps all have to reach a certain level to explore, and reality is about the same, either money or fist.
Let's explore the area in front later.
John and the others returned to the castle through the wooden bridge corridor; they didn't have any destination at this time, just wandering around randomly.
Subconsciously, they walked toward the high place.
Just stepped onto a tower.
*Whoosh whoosh whoosh! *
Several sounds of breaking wind came through the window.
Following the sound, they looked out the window.
"Look quickly, it seems there is a school team practicing at the Quidditch pitch today."
"Look at the team uniform, it's Gryffindor's."
Ryan looked at several people wearing red team uniforms riding flying brooms and breaking through the wind, and immediately said excitedly.
Come to think of it, the four of them, except for John, the other three were all Quidditch fanatics.
So when the Quidditch captain of the Eagle House invited John initially, they were so excited.
"The plan has changed."
"Let's go to the Quidditch pitch to see."
Ryan said decisively.
Ethan and Titus also nodded, and then looked at John at the same time.
"Three votes passed, John, you have no right to refuse."
Having said that, before John could speak, Ryan and Ethan directly framed John's arms and walked downstairs.
"Aiya, go if you want to go, I didn't disagree, you guys put me down."
John, who was framed by the two, could only struggle powerlessly and followed their decision.
The Quidditch pitch was built on a huge open space outside the castle; the pitch was oval-shaped, and elevated spectator seats were built all around, convenient for students to watch the game.
Today was just a normal Quidditch training, so not many people came to watch.
Either they were interested in Quidditch, or they were from other houses coming to investigate the enemy's situation.
John and the others followed the stairs to the spectator seats; from here, they could clearly see the situation of the entire pitch.
Ryan and the others excitedly discussed some professional terms that John couldn't understand.
John didn't understand Quidditch at all, so he didn't know what they were talking about.
Only knowing there were three kinds of balls on the field, four kinds of players.
Quaffle, Bludger, Golden Snitch.
Three Chasers, two Beaters, one Keeper, and one Seeker.
Using football as a metaphor, the Quaffle is the football, the most ordinary ball, responsible by the Chasers, as long as the Quaffle is thrown into the opponent's hoop, you can get 10 points.
There are two Bludgers in total, which are balls applied with magic; they will dart around in the pitch, interfering with players, and even attacking players.
At this time, Beaters are needed to block those obstructive Bludgers, and they can also use the bat in their hands to hit the Bludgers toward the opponent's players, thereby attacking opponents.
This is also the only attack method allowed in Quidditch.
And the Golden Snitch is a small golden ball the size of an eyeball, the key to the victory or defeat of the entire game.
A game wants to end, only when both captains agree, or one side catches the Golden Snitch.
Whichever team's Seeker catches the Golden Snitch first, that team directly gets 150 points.
However, catching it doesn't mean victory; if Team A is already leading by 160 points, then even if Team B catches the Golden Snitch, if the score is not as much as Team A, it is still Team A that wins.
Anyway, as long as the Seeker catches the Golden Snitch, the game ends.
At first, John was still not interested, but after watching for a while, it seemed not bad.
Watching the players cooperate with each other in tactics in twos and threes, whistling past in front of his eyes, it looked quite pleasing to the eye.
It's more exciting than watching the national football team.
"Hi, John."
Suddenly, a familiar voice came from beside him; John looked back.
"Senior Luna, you are here too."
Seeing that the person who came was Luna, John immediately said with a smile.
"Hm-hm, I came relatively early, so I saw you guys come up."
Luna sat beside John and said slowly.
Because when they came, they didn't walk around the spectator seats, but found a place to sit nearby.
It was just different from Ryan and the others, they directly lay on the edge of the spectator seats to watch.
And John was sitting alone at the back, so Luna only greeted John; the three of them didn't even notice Luna's arrival.
After Luna sat down, she continued to chat with John.
"John, do you also like Quidditch?"
"No, I was dragged here by the three of them."
John pointed at the three clowns in front and shrugged, smiling helplessly.
"Isn't this quite good? Perhaps you can take this opportunity to understand this sport?"
Luna sat beside John, looking in the direction of the pitch and smiling.
John didn't refute this, after all, he was already here.
"Look, Harry Potter is about to catch the Golden Snitch."
Luna raised her head, looking at the high place of the pitch, two figures chasing each other, looking like they were trying their best to catch a golden dot flying at high speed.
One of them was Harry; to be honest, if it
"How do you know? Harry Potter doesn't look like he's flying faster than the other person."
"Intuition."
Luna smiled faintly, without offering much explanation.
John also stared intently at the two Chasers in the sky, curious to see if it was really as Luna had said.
Just then, a cry of alarm came.
"Look out!!"
A Beater had made a mistake while hitting a Bludger with their bat, and a massive iron ball was hurtling straight toward where Luna and John were.
Their attention happened to be on the Golden Snitch high above at that moment, so they didn't notice the situation immediately.
By the time that cry of alarm came, they only just discovered the Bludger that had already come rushing over.
Almost subconsciously, John lunged to his side, pinning Luna down and shielding her beneath him.
Bang!!
