Chapter 331
The next day came quickly.
The morning sunlight was brighter than yesterday.
John, Harry, Hermione, and John's parents appeared together at King's Cross Station.
They took an ordinary Muggle Train this time; Muggle Society's transport is so convenient that even Wizards occasionally choose to ride it.
Especially for some overseas long-distance routes, this is also the most legal means of travel.
Of course, relying solely on the train cannot get them abroad; they merely first take the train to a coastal city, then board a ship to go out to sea.
Their destination this time is Germany, which lies across the sea from Britain.
Although directly Apparating to the coastal area would be more convenient.
But still, that saying: they need to deliberately slow their pace, waiting for the Death Eaters to take the bait.
Huh?
While waiting for the train, John suddenly noticed Draco and Narcissa's figures on the same platform.
However, this time there were no Death Eaters following behind them.
Only the two of them stood there alone, occasionally glancing toward John's side.
Their gaze seemed to convey a sense of doubt.
Harry and the others also noticed them, frowning strangely.
Voldemort couldn't possibly be so blatant as to send two mascots to tail us, could he?
John asked Harry somewhat strangely.
"Never mind them, don't stir up trouble."
Harry gave little response, replying lightly.
John clicked his tongue and complained to Harry.
"No, can't you pretend a bit more? Harry wouldn't be as cold as you."
"Actually he would."
Harry said, expressionless.
Hearing this, John laughed angrily.
"Alright, this time you're Harry, you call the shots."
Meanwhile.
"Mother, why are there only a few of them?"
"Didn't they bring anyone from the Order of the Phoenix or the Ministry of Magic to accompany them?"
Draco asked, somewhat puzzled and worried.
In their expectation, they would surely bring several adults on this overseas trip, possibly even an Auror accompanying them.
But right now there are only John, Harry, Hermione, and two Muggles.
Dumbledore actually allowed them to go abroad so unprepared?
They were still counting on John's group to act as a shield and escort them safely abroad.
Naturally, they hoped the more people on John's side, the better.
Narcissa did not answer immediately, merely withdrawing her gaze from John's group slowly.
She also lacked confidence in her heart, but she still said.
"It's fine, Draco; John alone is worth several Auror Squads."
That's not wrong.
Draco recalled John's fearsome reputation among the Death Eaters; his strength was indeed enough to handle most threats except Voldemort.
Perhaps, as Voldemort said, this is a bait to lure the Death Eaters into action.
But even if the Death Eaters come now, they're not coming to cause trouble for them.
They're coming for Draco and Narcissa.
Yesterday Narcissa's act of abandoning those Death Eaters should have been reported back by now.
After all, there are Death Eaters within the Ministry of Magic.
Voldemort will absolutely not tolerate traitors.
They likely have already sent people to find them.
Soon John and the others boarded the train.
John noticed that Draco and Narcissa also headed straight for the same car.
The two of them sat in a window-side double seat in the same car, only three rows away from John's group's seats.
But they merely exchanged a glance, tacitly avoiding any interaction.
There were few passengers in this car, and the atmosphere was very quiet.
Throughout the journey, they remained undisturbed.
John and Harry kept staring at them.
The other three were paying attention to the situation outside the train.
London is not far from the coast; they reached Dover Port in less than two hours.
After getting off, they hurriedly headed to the ferry terminal, crossing the English Channel to arrive at Calais Port in France.
On the ferry, Draco and Narcissa continued to closely follow their steps.
Yet, despite that, nothing happened the whole time.
John several times wanted to go confront them, but Harry stopped him each time.
After more than an hour of sailing, they finally stepped onto the damp, cold stone quay of Calais Port.
Immediately afterwards they rushed to Calais Train Station again, intending to head straight for the German border.
However, to test whether Draco and Narcissa were simply following them or had pre‑arranged the route, John deliberately suggested a temporary change of plan.
Originally they had planned to go to Berlin.
But John suddenly changed his mind and said they should go to Munich.
It is a border city close to Austria.
A direction completely different from Berlin.
The main point is that there is a train available for immediate departure right now.
No one else objected, since the destination didn't matter to them.
So they directly abandoned the Berlin tickets they had already bought, and at the Calais Train Station ticket office purchased new tickets to Munich.
Afterwards they saw Draco and Narcissa also go to the ticket office without hesitation.
Because they didn't know what kind of ticket John's group had bought.
They simply bought two copies of every ticket currently on sale.
That way, no matter which train John's group took, they could keep up.
They had money to burn.
Seeing this, John directly said to 'Harry'.
"Hey hey hey, this blatant move is clearly following us."
"I've never seen such brazen stalking in all my life."
"They don't even consider me worth noticing!"
"I'm going to take care of them."
Saying that, he rolled up his sleeves ready to go, but 'Harry' grabbed him and pulled him back.
Professor Moody was similarly puzzled all along.
His understanding of the Death Eaters far surpassed John's.
He had felt suspicious since that morning at the train station.
How could the Death Eaters possibly abandon concealment and ambush, and openly tail us like this?
This is completely unlike their usual modus operandi.
Thus the perpetually suspicious Professor Moody always sensed something fishy and refrained from acting rashly.
And Narcissa's behavior convinced him that there must be some hidden agenda.
Because he could see a flustered expression on Narcissa's face.
It was not the agitation of a hunter, but more like the trembling of a cornered beast.
"Just keep observing."
"Whether they are following us on Voldemort's orders or have some other motive."
"At least it doesn't conflict with our current goal."
"Rather, it's perfect for letting them feed our movements back to Voldemort in real time, luring him into appearing himself."
At this point 'Hermione' beside them spoke up.
"Why not just destroy the Horcrux right in front of them and let them carry the news back? The effect would be much the same."
But 'Harry' shook his head and said.
"No, few people among the Death Eaters even know about the Horcrux."
"You can tell from Lucius's reaction that he doesn't recognize the Horcrux."
"Doing that might waste a precious opportunity."
"And......"
Saying that, he paused and looked at the genuine tension and alarm on Narcissa and Draco.
as well as their deliberate behavior of never letting them out of their sight.
"They might not have been sent by Voldemort..."
