Chapter 383: The World's Position
Afterwards, Hermione and Yaomei chatted a lot.
Most of it, of course, was about the time she spent inside John's body.
People with strong empathy always can't help imagining that it was a lonely existence imprisoned in darkness.
But Yaomei herself didn't have that feeling.
"That feeling is like lying on soft clouds, watching a nonstop live broadcast all day—you can watch if you want, or sleep if you don't."
"And through the soul, I can feel my brother's emotions—his happiness, tension, worries—as if I had lived it myself."
Yaomei said this with a warm smile on her face, but immediately complained dissatisfiedly.
"But my brother's heart is too wicked."
"Even though he knows I'll be scared by that Horcrux, he keeps frightening me!"
Saying that, Yaomei pinched herself a little, and ended up crying out in pain.
Hermione was amused by her silly act.
She now indeed bears a resemblance to John.
"You two siblings are truly cut from the same mold," Hermione couldn't help laughing.
"After all, with souls coexisting, their personalities inevitably influence each other to some extent."
Yaomei pursed her lips, her tone carrying a sense of inevitability as well as a hint of disdain.
As for her understanding of this world, over the past few years she had already seen pretty much everything through John's eyes.
So she didn't feel unfamiliar with the world.
Yaomei continued describing the situation in her world.
"Besides, the soul's world isn't completely blank, uh... but the color is indeed white..."
"But anyway, it's not an empty void."
"There, one can construct various shapes according to the soul's will; I, for example, built a lovely house with a garden, a swing, and a window that looks out onto the outside world."
"When bored, I can still chat with my brother inside his mind, so I'm not lonely."
"At least, in the years since I've awakened, I've never felt lonely."
The world Yaomei described, though it sounds incredibly fantastical and beautiful,
but cannot be changed, is the fact that it's an island.
"Could it be that you can't get out of John's body?"
"Perhaps we could try to help you craft a dedicated fleshly body?"
Hermione asked tentatively.
"In theory, yes," Yaomei tilted her head, falling into thought.
She possesses all of John's memories, so she wasn't stumped by this question.
"But actual implementation is not simple."
"If I want to leave my brother's body, I can do so at any time."
"However, I need an absolutely compatible vessel to contain my soul."
"Reshaping a fleshly body like Voldemort does would only be a makeshift solution."
"Because, this world seems to lack my 'position'."
"Whether it's Voldemort or my brother, they truly existed, whereas I am different—I'm more like an accidental intruder, without an anchor of my own."
"I don't even know what I should look like..."
"So unless I create a vessel like a Horcrux, I cannot leave my brother's body."
"But that would really be no different from imprisonment, so I'd rather stay inside my brother's body."
Listening to Yaomei's words, Hermione fell into contemplation.
Indeed, whatever she could think of, John had naturally considered as well.
John perhaps refrained from acting rashly due to some consideration.
After all, we should wait for John to wake up, then discuss this with him.
The good news is, even if Yaomei returns to John's body, she seems unlikely to be too lonely.
She can even converse directly with her, letting John relay her responses.
"All right then," Hermione lightly nodded, her gaze softening, "wait for your brother to wake up, and we'll think of a solution together."
"During this time, is there anything you'd like to do?"
"I'll do my best to satisfy you."
In response to Hermione's kindness, Yaomei quickly shook her head and refused.
"No need, no need, sister; using my brother's words, this is like setting a flag for you."
"It sounds as if I'm about to leave this world imminently."
This appearance is just like encountering some flood beast.
Hermione immediately gave her an annoyed look: "You little brat, you can't spit out ivory from a dog's mouth any more than your brother can."
Saying that, she also poked her forehead.
But seriously, Hermione, who always values logic, actually got a little scared.
Because last time she had just said that to John, he encountered an accident, and this time she dares not speak recklessly again.
With John's experience this time,
the members of the Order of the Phoenix became even more vigilant.
For those who are neither close nor distant relations who suddenly visit, they are somewhat wary.
For fear that they themselves might also be affected.
As for John and Hermione's parents, they were relocated to a more concealed safe house.
For their safety, for the time being, we can only wrong them.
In the Muggle World, members of the Order of the Phoenix helped alter their memories and granted them an extended leave.
Once the turmoil passes, we'll let them return to normal life.
Upon returning home, both sets of parents had been waiting for a long time.
"Mom, Dad, Aunt and Uncle, we're back."
Hermione took Yaomei's hand and walked into the living room, greeting the four elders.
Mrs. Merick quickly stepped forward and hugged John.
"John, you've finally come back, are you hurt anywhere? Let Mom have a look."
Yaomei was obviously at a loss for this hug.
Hermione also didn't know where to start.
"Um, Aunt, Uncle, please don't get excited yet."
"I have something I need to explain to you..."
Hermione originally looked worried at the Merick Couple, and also turned their head in confusion.
"Um, how should I put this...?" Hermione's expression was extremely torn.
"Congratulations or... sorry..."
"In short, the bad news is that John hasn't woken up yet..."
"But the good news is... uh, you have a daughter...."
