Chapter 390

~6 min read 1,180 words

After getting off the train, Yueer directly said goodbye to Titus and the others, saying she also wanted to experience the first-years' boat ride.

Then she bounced over to Hagrid, who had come to pick up the train.

"Hagrid! I'm here!" Yueer shouted toward Hagrid.

"Oh, you are... uh, Yueer, right?"

Seeing her arrive, Hagrid paused a moment, then slowly spoke.

He had already heard Dumbledore say that although this child now has John's body, inside she is her sister's personality.

So he wouldn't mistake the person, and for Yueer this was also a kind of acknowledgment.

She smiled, nodded, then voluntarily stood in the first-year line and boarded the boat with the other first-years.

Although she had already seen this scene in her brother's memory.

But as the boat slowly glided across the Black Lake, the lake surface reflected the castle's lights, swaying like scattered gold.

Yueer gazed at the castle outline growing clearer against the night sky, and a strange feeling welled up inside her.

A sense of a new world about to unfold before her eyes, a throbbing mix of anticipation and unease.

She entered the castle and, following the first-years, arrived before the Great Hall.

Professor McGonagall was already standing there waiting for them. She scanned the new students, her gaze lingering a moment longer on Yueer, then returned to a stern expression.

"Welcome to Hogwarts."

The usual opening remarks.

Professor McGonagall briefly introduced the house system and the importance of the Sorting Ceremony, then led the first-years into the brightly lit Great Hall.

The first-years were quickly led by her into the Great Hall.

The upperclassmen of the four houses all turned their gaze to this group of little beans, and to Yueer mixed among them.

She was a head taller than the surrounding first-years, making her especially conspicuous in the line.

"Now, when I call your name, come forward."

Professor McGonagall stopped before the Sorting Hat, unfurling the parchment scroll in her hand toward the first-years behind her.

As each name was called, the first-years stepped forward one by one, put on the worn Sorting Hat, and waited for it to loudly announce their house.

Yueer was specially arranged to be last.

Because her name did not appear in the admission register at all; it was Dumbledore who arranged for her to be admitted.

When the last student had been sorted, Professor McGonagall finally turned her gaze to Yueer.

"Yueer Green."

Yueer took a deep breath, walking toward the Sorting Hat amid the curious gazes of the hall.

The Sorting Hat slowly lowered onto her head, its brim almost covering her eyes.

"Hmm... interesting." A small voice sounded in her ear.

"Albus specifically asked me to look after this child, let me see......"

"Hmm, you long for family, for belonging, for a place where you can feel at ease. You have courage, you have loyalty."

"Should I put you in Gryffindor, or Hufflepuff?"

The Sorting Hat muttered to itself, Yueer hearing it, her heartbeat unconsciously quickening.

"But you also have a quality—once you decide on something, you must see it through, even if you hit a south wall and don't turn back. Such stubbornness......"

"Then...... Slytherin!!"

The Sorting Hat's voice echoed through the hall.

The expressions of Hermione and a few others below became quite remarkable.

On the platform, Professor Snape couldn't help but slightly lift the corner of his mouth, revealing a barely perceptible smile.

Yueer, however, hadn't quite reacted yet.

What about the promised Gryffindor and Hufflepuff?

How did they end up shoving me into Slytherin?

She took off the Sorting Hat, her steps a bit unsteady as she walked toward the Slytherin long table.

Even in Slytherin, John only knew two, uh no, three.

Draco, and the two Greengrass sisters.

But aside from Draco, they were just nodding acquaintances.

So Yueer, following her memory, simply sat down beside Astoria.

"Hello, senior."

"Uh... hello."

Astoria obviously hadn't expected her to sit down voluntarily, froze a moment, then gave a polite smile.

"My name is Yueer Green; please look after me from now on." Yueer tried to make her tone sound as natural as possible.

Astoria nodded and spoke.

"I know you, the one who showed great prowess on the train." Her tone was gentle, lacking the scrutinizing coldness of other Slytherins.

"I didn't expect you to be the third-year transfer student the headmaster mentioned."

"You are very much like someone I knew before, who also bravely stood up on the train to face a Dementor."

Hearing that, Yueer's eyes lit up and she asked, "What was that person like?"

"Um... I'm not really familiar either, but I can only say he was smart, though seemed to be missing a screw......"

Hearing Astoria's answer, Yueer couldn't help but burst out laughing.

Seeing Yueer laugh, Astoria didn't continue, because that person had already died......

So as not to frighten this child.

After the dinner, John followed Astoria and gathered quite a bit about Slytherin.

For instance, who not to offend, who to keep distance from, and some unwritten Slytherin rules.

John also talked about his origin, a Wizard family hiding in the deep mountains, who was picked up by Dumbledore.

Astoria was surprised, but she could accept it.

After the dinner ended, the Class Monitors of each college led the First-year Students to the college Common Room.

Now the Class Monitors of Snake House are Draco and a girl named Panxi.

Panxi led two lackeys up to John.

Her attitude wasn't great, but it was still fairly proper.

After all, being able to drive off a hundred Dementors in one strike would make anyone sensible.

"Are you that Transfer Student?"

"Which family are you from? I've never heard the surname Green before."

John found it strange, but he honestly said he came from the mountains.

Upon hearing that, Panxi's expression shifted slightly, and she began to scrutinize John seriously.

An unsophisticated Earth Mound, yet possessing great strength...

He could be duped into becoming a lackey.

Just as he was thinking that, he hadn't yet spoken to recruit.

Draco then walked over, ignoring Panxi, first nodding at Astoria, then turning to John and speaking politely.

"New student, come with me; the professor instructed me to show you around."

"Upon seeing that, John immediately hurried after Draco, ignoring Panxi's glare that seemed ready to devour him."

Astoria also followed along.

"Stay away from Panxi next time; she's no sweetheart, she likes to form cliques to bully newcomers," Draco warned in a low voice.

At this moment, Astoria idly interjected, teasing: "You used to like that as well, didn't you?"

Draco: "......"

"That was in the past," Draco said, turning his face away somewhat uncomfortably, "things are different now."

"Yeah, indeed not the same anymore," Astoria said with a slight smile, looking at Draco's unnatural profile, her eyes holding a hint of amusement.

John glanced left and right at the two of them, suddenly understanding something, but he didn't say more; he quietly shifted to the other side to follow, allowing them to walk side by side.
