Chapter 398: Europe Turmoil
Great Hall.
Yueer sat at the Slytherin long table, looking at the newspaper in hand.
The Daily Prophet's front page prominently featured a photo of Dumbledore and Grindelwald standing side by side.
The headline read: 【Century Cooperation——Magic World's Last Line of Defense?】
The content mainly reported recent news of Dumbledore and Grindelwald joining forces across Europe to suppress Death Eater riots, along with various opinions on the matter.
Moreover, the recent situation in Europe seems to have gradually stabilized thanks to their efforts.
The evidence is that the Death Eaters' movements have become much smaller in the past few days.
Yueer's gaze lingered on the photo for a moment, then turned to the next page.
An inconspicuous notice in the corner caught his attention——【The International Wizards Association detected abnormal magical power fluctuations in various parts of Europe recently。】
It is currently under investigation.
"Good morning, Yueer."
At that moment, Astoria and Draco suddenly appeared beside Yueer.
"Good morning, senior."
Seeing them, Yueer closed the newspaper and greeted the two.
"Good morning." Draco also nodded at Yueer, his gaze sweeping over the newspaper in his hand, "Yueer, I notice you're quite interested in the news?"
"Hahaha, it's fine, just curious about the outside world."
Yueer gave a casual laugh to brush it off.
Actually, it's John inside who wants to see.
Draco raised an eyebrow, saying nothing more.
Yueer's setting is that Dumbledore picked them up from a mountain, so it's normal to be curious.
Of course, Draco was half‑believing, half‑doubting this explanation, but didn't pursue it further.
"However, things really haven't been peaceful lately." Draco lowered his voice, looking toward Astoria beside him.
"Astoria, remember to have your family stay alert lately."
"I know, you too." Astoria nodded, the faint smile still on her lips.
Yueer beside them looked at their tacit understanding and felt somewhat speechless.
In the brother's memory, Draco was a spoiled aristocrat who bullied men and women; although his family broke away from the Death Eaters last year, he has indeed turned over a new leaf.
But seeing him now as a modest gentleman still feels off.
This semester Draco basically sticks close to Astoria.
She occasionally chats a few words with Astoria, and Draco pops out.
Under the pretense of Professor Snape letting him look after Yueer, he openly approaches Astoria.
Just ridiculous.
At that moment, Dumbledore's figure suddenly appeared in the Great Hall.
He said nothing, simply walked straight through the Great Hall and headed directly to the Teacher's Seat to have breakfast.
As usual.
However, there's been too much news about Dumbledore and Grindelwald lately, plus he hasn't shown up at Hogwarts for almost a week.
So when people saw him appear, they all gave him curious glances to varying degrees.
Could it be that the Death Eater disturbances outside have been settled, giving the old man time to come back?
Yueer also followed the crowd's gaze and saw Dumbledore looking normal, even giving a gentle smile to a few students before sitting at the Teacher's Seat and picking up knife and fork to enjoy breakfast.
"It seems the situation has indeed eased."
Draco said softly, his gaze still fixed on Dumbledore.
"The fact that the old man can come back for breakfast at least shows things haven't reached the worst point."
"Hard to say." Yueer muttered under their breath.
Often this surface calm is merely an illusion before the storm.
Who knows if Voldemort is brewing some bigger plot again.
She had only just complained a moment ago.
Suddenly several owls flew one after another into the Great Hall.
The owls each carried a letter, hurling them straight at Dumbledore.
Before Dumbledore could grab the letters, those few letters unfolded themselves in midair.
Urgent voices streamed from the envelopes—these were Howlers.
"Dumbledore! The French Ministry of Magic writes, Paris is in emergency! Death Eaters suddenly launched simultaneous attacks across Paris, the Ministry's defenses breached in multiple places!"
"The German Ministry of Magic writes, hordes of Dark Magic creatures run amok on Berlin's streets, causing casualties among Muggles and wizards alike! Munich is also under attack by Death Eaters!"
"Austria…"
"Spain…"
One after another, they were all letters from the Ministry of Magic.
Each one announced that the European continent was plunging into unprecedented chaos.
But only Britain, Voldemort's stronghold, had no news at all.
Is it trying to avoid Dumbledore and Grindelwald?
Or is it trying to lure them out?
The urgent voices from those Howlers also clearly reached the ears of every student in the Great Hall.
The entire Great Hall fell silent in an instant, even the sound of knives and forks hitting plates disappeared.
The students looked at each other, their faces full of shock and unease.
Dumbledore's face was solemn as he slowly rose.
The professors nearby also gathered around, waiting for Dumbledore's instructions.
He slowly scanned the students below, his gaze lingering on Harry and Yueer for a moment.
He then turned to Professor McGonagall beside him and gave a low instruction.
"Milewa, take care of the children."
"If necessary, initiate the emergency evacuation procedure at any time."
Professor McGonagall nodded.
With Dumbledore absent, she is Hogwarts' Vice Headmaster and must bear the responsibility of protecting the school.
Finally, he glanced once more toward Yueer and Harry, and Phoenix Fawkes appeared on his shoulder.
Fukesi let out a clear cry, flames swirling upward, and Dumbledore's figure vanished together with Fukesi from the Teacher's Seat.
The moment Dumbledore disappeared, the Great Hall erupted in chatter. Students whispered to each other, panic spreading like wildfire.
Professor McGonagall immediately stepped onto the podium.
"Silence!"
"Everyone, be quiet!"
"I know you have many questions, but now is not the time to discuss them." Professor McGonagall's voice carried an undeniable authority.
"Class monitors of each house, immediately organize your students to return orderly to the Common Room. All classes are suspended; until further notice, no student may act alone."
She paused, her gaze sweeping over the students below,
"Class monitors, please ensure every student stays within your sight. Now, act immediately!"
Under Professor McGonagall's strong command, the students only then felt like they had a backbone, beginning an orderly evacuation under the organization of the class monitors.
Yueer and Astoria followed behind Draco, while Draco focused on greeting the Slytherin students, having them line up and not panic.
As they left the Great Hall, Yueer sensed a gaze from the Gryffindor side—it was Harry looking at her, raising his chin to signal her to speak outside.
Yueer naturally understood Harry's meaning, and told Draco, "I'll step away for a moment."
Without explanation, she simply said a brief sentence and stepped out of the line.
Draco paused slightly but did not stop her.
Just watching Yueer's retreating back, it somewhat resembled the memory of John.
