Chapter 66: Professor Lupin Returns

~7 min read 1,225 words

"Alright, alright John, don't get worked up with Xiaohei."

Hermione reached out, patted John's head, and said with a smile.

John was also stunned by Hermione's action.

But he reacted immediately, humming at the black dog.

Pretending to be a small person who had gained success.

The black dog was a bit speechless; he shook his head, dug the ground twice with his claws, and glanced at John with dissatisfaction.

Then he turned and left without looking back, as if he had been angered away.

This scene made Hermione laugh again.

John watched the black dog's departing back, the smugness on his face gradually fading, and he finally breathed a sigh of relief.

He didn't want Hermione to know about the Animagus matter yet.

John looked at Hermione's eyes, which still held a smile, and changed the subject.

"Hermione, let's go back and continue watching the match."

Hermione nodded and did not refuse.

However, before she left, she looked in the direction the black dog had left, lost in thought.

When the two were walking all the way toward the Quidditch pitch.

Just after turning a corner, they saw a large group of students walking along the corridor ahead.

They were all returning from the Quidditch pitch, discussing it all the way, their faces still carrying confusion and lingering fear.

John and Hermione looked at each other, both seeing confusion in the other's eyes.

Could the match have ended in this short time?

It's just that looking at these students, they didn't seem to have the excitement of a match ending, but rather carried a trace of unease.

"John! Hermione!"

"Why are you here?"

At this moment, Neville, who was passing by, discovered them and immediately ran toward the two.

"Neville, did something happen?"

Seeing Neville come over, Hermione asked immediately.

"Weren't you at the pitch just now?"

"Harry had an accident!"

Neville was stunned for a moment, but immediately spoke up.

He quickly recounted what had happened after John and the others left.

Hearing the news that Harry had been attacked by Dementors and fallen from his broomstick, both were very shocked.

"Where is Harry, how is he now?"

Hermione asked worriedly.

"He's lying in the school infirmary now; Madam Pomfrey said he's fine and will wake up in a while."

Hearing this, Hermione finally breathed a sigh of relief.

"Hermione, you go visit Harry, I'm going to find Titus and the others too."

John saw Hermione's worry, so he said to her.

Hermione nodded, but still exhorted John.

"You were bumped into by Dementors when you went out a few days ago, you can't go out now, you know."

She said to John like a strict old mother.

John had no choice but to nod repeatedly.

Only then did Hermione turn and leave with peace of mind, rushing toward the school infirmary.

John watched Hermione leave before saying to Neville on the side.

"Neville, let's go to the Great Hall together."

Neville nodded; he had already been to see Harry just now, but Harry hadn't woken up, so he had left first.

As the two walked, John asked curiously about the details of the match.

Neville recalled and recounted the scene at the time to John again.

And John kept his brow furrowed.

Because he suddenly realized a very serious matter.

He seemed to know where Sirius was...

Since coming to Hogwarts, he could see Dementors hovering outside every day, and slowly he had become accustomed to it.

But this time, because of the Dementors causing trouble again, he was suddenly dazed.

Realizing that Dementors were not a specialty of Hogwarts, but were here to catch Sirius.

Dementors = Jailers

Sirius = Prisoner

Prisoner = Wearing prison uniform

Then last time, where did we see a prison uniform?

Ah, that's right, that thing the black dog was wearing after turning into a human was a prison uniform.

So that black dog was actually Sirius transformed.

This thought process might be a bit jumpy, but sometimes figuring out a thing is just that sudden.

The more John thought, the clearer the logic became.

Professor Lupin and Sirius were old friends; we had known this for a long time.

This could explain why Professor Lupin was so excited after seeing Sirius.

And kept urging John to stay away from him.

It turned out he had known all along that the black dog was Sirius.

He had originally thought that Professor Lupin was being secretive just to cover up his unregistered Animagus status.

As it turned out, being an unregistered Animagus was a trivial matter compared to him.

John scratched his head, feeling a bit of a headache.

Sure enough, he still had to understand the situation with Professor Lupin as soon as possible.

In the few times he had spent with Sirius, John could feel it very clearly.

He didn't have that kind of heinous aura about him.

Not at all as terrifying as the news reports said.

And the goodwill Big Orange showed him further proved this point.

Although it's a bit unreliable to always use a cat to make a point, sometimes animals are more trustworthy than people.

Especially in this magical world, the judgment of animals is even more significant.

So John hadn't planned to report Sirius yet, at least not for the time being.

Harry Potter's encounter with the Dementor attack didn't attract much attention.

Everyone just took it as an accident.

By dinner time, John finally saw Professor Lupin again.

It could be seen that the werewolf transformation was quite a torment for him; even though a day had passed, his face was still frighteningly pale.

But John wouldn't let him off just because of that.

After finishing dinner, seeing Professor Lupin get up and leave, he immediately followed.

On the way to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, he finally caught up with Professor Lupin.

"Good evening, John, I don't think you're here to care about me."

Professor Lupin wasn't surprised by John's appearance, but laughed lightly as if he had expected it.

"If you're lacking care, then it's not like I can't satisfy you."

John said with an indifferent face.

Professor Lupin laughed lightly and didn't stop his pace, but continued to walk toward the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom.

"That won't be necessary, I'm not that delicate."

"Come have a cup of tea at my place."

Looking at Professor Lupin's back, John also knew that this wasn't the place to talk, so he followed silently behind him.

The two walked all the way to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom and entered the office on the second floor.

Professor Lupin just waved his hand lightly, and the teapot automatically started boiling water.

He sat slowly in the chair behind the desk, his expression slightly tired but still gentle.

"Sorry John, I guess you must have many questions you want to ask; it's been hard on you to hold it in for so many days."

John sat opposite him and shook his head.

"Actually, I only have one question I want to ask."

"Oh? One? Let's hear it."

Hearing John's words, Professor Lupin raised his eyebrows and asked with a smile.

John also spoke slowly.

"Sirius Black, is he really the heinous prisoner that the Ministry of Magic says he is?" ===== CHAPTER 67 =====
