Chapter 124: Wolf Warrior 2 Begins Filming
At Clearwater Bay Studio, morning sunlight pierced through the thin mist. Stagehands were arranging incense tables; golden characters reading "Lucky Start" were pasted on cameras covered with red silk. Xiang Fei, dressed in a simple white T-shirt and jeans, personally adjusted the monitors.
"Guide, Brother Jackie Chan has arrived!" Stagehand Xiao Zhang rushed over to report.
Xiang Fei looked up and saw Jackie Chan, in casual wear, striding forward with several stunt apprentices behind him.
"Ah Fei!" Jackie Chan warmly embraced Xiang Fei. "I've read the script three times. The character Leng Feng suits me perfectly!"
Xiang Fei handed over a red envelope: "Brother, this is your deposit for the fee..."
Jackie Chan pushed the red envelope back: "I heard everyone is refusing their fees? Then I certainly cannot accept mine!"
"This..." Xiang Fei felt somewhat troubled.
Jackie Chan patted his shoulder. "In Xiangjiang, we are one family!"
Just as they spoke, a black van drove in slowly. Leslie Cheung, wearing a light-colored suit, stepped out and elegantly nodded to everyone.
"Gege!" Xiang Fei went to meet him. "The character Zhuo Yifan..."
"I love it very much," Leslie Cheung smiled. "A rich second-generation heir who appears cynical on the surface but remains passionate inside; it's very challenging."
Suddenly, the roar of an engine approached. Anita Mui rode in on a heavy motorcycle, executing a perfect drift to stop before the crowd.
"Sister Mei!" Xiang Fei was at a loss for words. "You are..."
"A female officer must have the bearing of a female officer!" Anita Mui removed her helmet, her neat short hair fluttering in the wind.
Leslie Cheung shook his head affectionately: "This girl is still so fond of showing off."
Sammo Hung arrived with a grand entourage including Lam Ka-tung and Chin Siu-ho; Lin Zhengying, dressed entirely in black, exuded immense presence; Wong Jing pulled Zhou Xingchi aside to discuss the scene; Lau Fu-lung and Cai Shaofen walked side by side, chatting and laughing.
The stagehands stood with mouths agape: "This lineup... is it the Golden Horse Awards ceremony?"
Standing before the incense table, Xiang Fei's voice choked slightly: "Thank you all..."
"Stop talking nonsense!" Sammo Hung's loud voice cut him off. "Hurry up and light the incense to start filming!"
Everyone burst into laughter. Anita Mui playfully inserted three sticks of incense: "Pray for huge box office sales!"
"Wolf Warrior 2, Scene One, Take One, Action!"
The Leng Feng played by Jackie Chan darted through an African market, his movements clean and crisp. The Zhuo Yifan played by Leslie Cheung drove a luxury car into the shot; the two locked eyes, sparks flying.
"Cut! Perfect!" Xiang Fei gave a thumbs-up.
Jackie Chan walked over to watch the playback: "Should we do another take?"
Leslie Cheung also leaned in: "I can make my gaze a bit more frivolous..."
At lunchtime, everyone sat together eating boxed meals. Anita Mui snatched a chicken leg from Jackie Chan's bowl: "Brother needs to lose weight!"
"Hey!" Jackie Chan was at a loss for words.
Lin Zhengying silently transferred his own chicken leg to Jackie Chan: "Martial artists must eat their fill."
Sammo Hung shoveled rice into his mouth: "Ah Fei, is the afternoon explosion scene ready?"
At three in the afternoon, the explosion scene for the constructed African village was ready.
"Everyone, stay safe!" Xiang Fei shouted through a megaphone.
"Boom!" A huge fireball soared into the air; Jackie Chan leaped out amidst the flames, his movements executed in one fluid motion.
"Beautiful!" The stunt coordinators cheered in unison.
Watching from a distance, Leslie Cheung was terrified: "This is too dangerous..."
Anita Mui patted him: "Don't worry, Brother Jackie Chan is a professional."
Suddenly, one explosion point detonated prematurely. In the nick of time, Jackie Chan violently shoved the stuntman beside him away, only to be overturned by the blast wave himself.
"Brother!" Everyone cried out in shock.
Jackie Chan sprang up with a carp kick, brushed the dirt off his clothes: "It's nothing, nothing! Keep filming!"
Xiang Fei rushed over: "That's it for today!"
That evening, in the hotel conference room, Xiang Fei wore a solemn expression: "Safety first; tomorrow, all explosion scenes will be re-inspected."
The action director nodded: "I have already contacted a special effects team from Australia."
Leslie Cheung said softly: "Ah Fei, don't blame yourself too much."
Jackie Chan was indifferent: "Just a small accident; back in the day, we faced far more dangerous situations and were fine!"
The next morning, everyone found Leslie Cheung learning combat from the stunt coordinators.
"Gege?" Xiang Fei was surprised. "You are..."
"Zhuo Yifan has fight scenes later," Leslie Cheung wiped his sweat. "I cannot drag the team down."
Anita Mui was also practicing her gun-holding stance nearby: "A female officer cannot be a vase!"
During filming breaks, Jackie Chan actively guided Leslie Cheung on action scenes; Anita Mui helped Cai Shaofen adjust her military uniform; Sammo Hung and Lin Zhengying discussed the shaping of the villain's character; Lau Fu-lung helped Zhou Xingchi rehearse his lines.
The script supervisor's little sister sighed: "This isn't filming; it's practically a film training class!"
