Chapter 253: Heavenly King, Zhou
On a New Zealand night, the set was ablaze with lights.
Xiang Fei had just finished filming a night scene and was sitting in front of the monitor reviewing footage when his phone suddenly rang.
"Hello, Wang Pangzi?"
On the other end, Wang Pangzi's voice carried an excitement he could barely contain: "Fei-ge, *Ghost Blowing Lamp II: Kunlun Palace* broke a hundred million! Opening-week box office: 120 million!"
Xiang Fei raised an eyebrow: "That fast?"
"You bet!" Han Shanping laughed heartily. "You didn't see the faces of those Shaw Brothers guys — pulled longer than a donkey's face! Their film starring A Xing got cut clean in half by us. I even heard the people under them tried to advise your Guoming.!"
Xiang Fei smiled: "Alright, you guys keep watching things over there. I've still got half a month before wrap."
After hanging up, Xiang Fei thought for a moment, then dialed another number.
"Hello, Wen-ge."
On the other end, Fei Min Entertainment's vice president Cai Wen was organizing documents in his office. Hearing the boss's voice, he yawned: "A-Fei, go ahead."
"You go to Taiwan tomorrow." Xiang Fei's voice brooked no argument. "Recruit two people for me."
Cai Wen was taken aback: "Who?"
"A singer named Zhou Jielun, and a lyricist named Fang Wenxian."
Cai Wen was baffled: "Zhou Jielun? Fang Wenxian? Who… are they?"
"No matter what it costs, you must sign them." Xiang Fei paused. "Remember — must."
Though his head was full of question marks, Cai Wen agreed immediately: "Understood, I'll get on it right away."
After hanging up, Cai Wen scratched his head and muttered to himself: "Zhou Jielun? Fang Wenxian? Who are these two?"
The next day, Cai Wen flew to Taiwan and headed straight for Wu Zongxian's Alpha Music.
Wu Zongxian, hearing that Fei Min Entertainment's vice president had come in person, received him warmly at once: "President Cai! I've long admired you!"
Cai Wen didn't waste words, getting straight to the point: "Boss Wu, our President Xiang is very interested in your Zhou Jielun and Fang Wenxian. We'd like to discuss cooperation."
Wu Zongxian was startled, then his eyes rolled: "Oh my, Jielun and Wenxian are the treasures of our company…"
Cai Wen smiled faintly: "50 million. Take them both."
Wu Zongxian nearly choked on his tea: "H-how much?"
"50 million." Cai Wen calmly repeated. "Cash."
Wu Zongxian's mind raced — Zhou Jielun was far from worth that price, and Fang Wenxian was an utterly unknown lyricist. Has Fei Min Entertainment lost its mind?
"Deal!" Wu Zongxian slammed the table, afraid Cai Wen might change his mind.
After signing the contract, Wu Zongxian had someone call Zhou Jielun and Fang Wenshan over.
When the two walked into the office, Cai Wen looked them up and down, his doubts deepening—
Zhou Jielun wore a baseball cap and a loose T-shirt, looking a bit shy, even slightly hunchbacked; Fang Wenxian was dressed like a literary youth, wearing black-framed glasses and holding a poetry collection in his hand.
"These two… really worth 50 million?" Cai Wen muttered to himself, but his professionalism kept him from showing it.
He stood up and extended his hand: "Hello, I'm Cai Wen, vice president and general manager of Fei Min Entertainment."
Zhou Jielun and Fang Wenxian exchanged a glance, and the same thought exploded in both their minds—
"Holy crap! Fei Min Entertainment?!"
Zhou Jielun's heart raced: "The idol's company?! Wu Zongxian finally did something decent!"
Fang Wenxian's face was pure shock: "Fei Min Entertainment… isn't that the idol's…"
Looking at their stunned expressions, Cai Wen became even more certain — President Xiang had definitely misjudged this time.
But he kept his professional smile: "From now on, you two are Fei Min Entertainment people."
Saying so, he pulled two stacks of cash from his briefcase and pushed them over: "This is 500,000 — a meeting gift. Don't bother packing, just come back to Beijing with me."
Zhou Jielun swallowed: "President Cai… President Xiang… really signed us?"
Cai Wen nodded: "That's right. President Xiang personally named you."
Zhou Jielun nearly jumped up, barely holding back his excitement: "Great! We'll leave with you right now!"
Fang Wenxian also came back to his senses and pushed up his glasses: "President Cai, may I ask… why did President Xiang choose us?"
Cai Wen shrugged: "Honestly, I don't know either."
On the return flight, Zhou Jielun and Fang Wenxian were still in a state of shock.
Zhou Jielun said softly to Fang Wenxian: "Wenxian, are we about to take off?"
Fang Wenxian took a deep breath: "Jielun, this opportunity… might be the biggest turning point of our lives."
Cai Wen sat in the front row, gazing through the window at the clouds, still unable to figure it out—
"What on earth does President Xiang see in them?"
