Chapter 13: Old Friends
Five minutes later.
A Mercedes-Benz six-wheeled off-road vehicle drove steadily along Gloucester Road.
A Mercedes-Benz sedan and a large Gold Cup van followed behind the Mercedes off-road vehicle, driving in a zigzagging manner.
The windows of all three vehicles were rolled down, and thick arms holding cigarettes extended out of the windows.
They had forcefully turned the three-lane Gloucester Road into a single-lane road.
The sedans and vans behind them did not dare to overtake.
After all, this group of people looked like they were linked to "black-evil forces" and "criminal gangs."
If they were provoked, one would definitely end up in a world of trouble.
Chen Haonan, who was passing by in his own MR2 sports car, looked at that six-meter-long, over-two-meter-high, and imposing six-wheeled Mercedes off-road vehicle, and suddenly felt that his sports car was no longer appealing.
Kowloon Peninsula, Yau Ma Tei Fruit Market.
Of the two most chaotic places in all of Hong Kong, one is the Kowloon Walled City, and the other is the Yau Ma Tei Fruit Market!
Whether the whole of Hong Kong is chaotic or not is decided by the Walled City and the Yau Ma Tei Fruit Market!
The Yau Ma Tei Fruit Market has complex terrain; inside its winding and twisting barriers, everyone is either a drug addict or a gangster.
There is no law or morality to speak of here; one can only rely on fists and guns to solve problems.
At its most rampant, drug addicts selling and using drugs would even openly line up in long queues to trade.
The Hong Kong Royal Police once targeted Yau Ma Tei and established the "Yau Ma Tei Fruit Market Anti-Drug" case, cleaning it up back and forth several times, but it still could not be swept clean.
Later, the Independent Commission Against Corruption was established to tackle the problem from the source.
They cleaned up the Four Great Families of the money era, deported the Dragon Head of the Sun Yee On, arrested the drug lord Bo Hao, drove away the Shuang Ma Family, Chinese detective Lei Luo fled to a foreign land with Pig Oil Boy, Chief Superintendent Godber was arrested... they even arrested a large group of corrupt police officers from the Yau Ma Tei Police Station.
All of this led to thousands of police officers taking to the streets to protest.
The Governor issued an amnesty, pardoning a large group of corrupt police officers, and only then did the public order in the Yau Ma Tei Fruit Market improve significantly.
A Mercedes off-road vehicle, a Mercedes sedan, and a large Gold Cup van arrived at their destination.
Dumu and Lao E took the lead and jumped out of the car.
More than twenty young demon slaves got out one by one and scattered, making no effort to hide their well-developed muscles or the axes at their waists.
Chen Jiajun jumped out of the car, took the lead, and scanned his surroundings.
He arrived at an old, aged building.
At the entrance, Chen Jiajun said to the burly man guarding the door: "Tell A Jie that Lanjai Jun has come to find him."
A black burly man extended his hand and, speaking fluent Hong Kong Cantonese, said to Chen Jiajun: "Sorry, our boss said that no weapons are allowed up there..."
Before he could finish his sentence, he began to scream; a young demon slave had brazenly struck, grabbing his wrist and twisting it—with just a little more force, the black man's wrist would definitely have snapped.
Chen Jiajun shouted toward the sky: "A Jie! You little punk, your savior is here, come down and kneel to welcome me!"
A joyful shout came from the second floor, and a handsome mixed-race youth poked his head out: "Lanjai Jun, screw your mother! Tell your men to stop! I'm coming down!"
Immediately, the sound of footsteps coming downstairs echoed through the building.
A Jie, original name Jie James, is an international fugitive.
Judging by his surname, he is a Gweilo.
But in reality, he is a mixed-race person; his mother is Chinese, and his father is white.
He lived in an affluent family since childhood, and after growing up, he joined the United States military and became a soldier.
However, both his parents were gangsters, which led to them being assassinated by rival gang members.
A Jie led a group of brothers to storm the place, bloodily purged the other side, and then fled to Hong Kong to become an arms dealer.
Facts proved that A Jie had a talent for arms; in short, he was a very visionary arms dealer...
Previously, Chen Jiajun had been sent by Dalao B to buy guns and happened to run into A Jie being hunted; Chen Jiajun intervened and saved him.
Since then, the two became friends.
As soon as A Jie ran down, he punched Chen Jiajun and cursed angrily: "Fuck! I've been back in Hong Kong for so long, and you didn't even come to see me?"
Because he grew up in the United States, he was deeply influenced by the local gang culture.
A Jie's way of expressing friendship was very direct and very rough.
If Chen Jiajun hadn't already warned the young demon slaves, A Jie might have been torn to pieces by them.
Before Chen Jiajun could reply, A Jie looked at the Mercedes off-road pickup truck with glowing eyes: "Wow, wow, look at what I've seen! Cool! How come I've never seen this kind of car?"
This guy was someone who got familiar very quickly.
Chen Jiajun patted the hood of the Mercedes off-road vehicle with some pride and said: "You have an eye for things! You're the first one to compliment it."
"Too cool! One should look at an old friend with new eyes after three days apart; last year in Hong Kong you were still just a punk, but now you've finally wised up. This must be Brother Dumu who has been very popular lately, right!"
A Jie looked at Dumu and clicked his tongue in wonder.
Dumu nodded at him as a greeting.
"Call me A Jie, let's go upstairs and chat! You came just in time; if you had come tomorrow, you wouldn't have been able to see me!"
A Jie said as he patted Chen Jiajun on the shoulder and walked into the building.
"Can't see you? Why, are you going to kick the bucket tomorrow?" Chen Jiajun joked with a chuckle.
"Of course not, I have something to do tomorrow and have to go out." A Jie didn't care at all, and the two walked with their arms around each other, very intimate.
Unlike the dilapidated exterior, the interior of the building was decorated very luxuriously.
"Make yourself at home, find a place to sit."
A Jie went to the bar, opened a box of cigars and tossed them to Chen Jiajun and his group, then helped himself to a bottle of whiskey from the liquor cabinet: "Whiskey on the rocks?"
"I'll follow the host's lead."
Chen Jiajun picked up a cigar, sniffed it, and felt the quality was good.
A Jie poured a few glasses of whiskey and placed them in front of the group: "You kid, I heard you've been doing pretty well. I was thinking that if you weren't doing so great, I'd bring you into my line of work when you came back this time."
"Forget it, I'd rather be a gangster."
Taking a puff of his Cigar, Chen Jiajun took the glass and waved his hands repeatedly.
Dealing in arms is truly licking blood off a blade; every transaction is a gamble with one's life, it's really not easy to do.
Back then, A Jie saw that Chen Jiajun was doing very poorly and wanted to take him along to make big money several times, but he was refused repeatedly.
"Haha, Hong Kong is still too small. You really need to go out and see the world, A Jun."
A Jie bit off the tip of his Cigar without any regard for his image, spat it out, and then pulled out a kerosene lighter to light the Cigar.
Chen Jiajun raised his glass and clinked it with his: "That is true, the bigger the waves, the more expensive the fish, but you know me, I'm timid, haha!"
"Timid? I'm afraid that's not necessarily true, is it? Even Babi was taken care of by you, hahaha!" A Jie downed the whiskey in his glass in one gulp and scolded him with a laugh.
After chatting for a while and shooting the breeze, Chen Jiajun brought the topic back on track: "A Jie, I came to see you this time because I have serious business."
Upon hearing this, A Jie put away his smile and ordered his underlings: "Everyone get out."
"Yes!"
His men immediately walked out of the room, but they did not go far, instead standing guard at the door.
"Speak, what is it?"
A Jie took a fierce puff of his Cigar, savored the fragrance of the cigar smoke in his mouth, slowly exhaled, and drained the whiskey in his glass again.
Chen Jiajun did not beat around the bush and said directly: "I want to buy some goods. Get me twenty AKs, twenty pineapples, and as much ammunition as possible."
"Fuck, twenty AKs, twenty pineapples, what are you trying to do, kid?" Hearing Chen Jiajun's words, A Jie was so shocked that his Cigar even fell out.
