Chapter 9: Fighting the Royal Zombie, This Haul is a Fortune!
Because the heavy rain had made the ground muddy and impassable, Daoist Priest Qianhe called over several soldiers to help transport it.
Just at this moment, the rain stopped, but a bolt of heavenly lightning struck down, landing directly on the coffin; sparks flew everywhere, the ink-marked rope caught fire, several soldiers were struck dead by the lightning, and Dong, Nan, Xi, and Bei retreated in terror.
Once the thunder dissipated, the golden coffin stirred; the Royal Zombie inside was prying open the lid. Daoist Priest Qianhe was shocked and roared, "Quick, bring the rope!"
He then leaped onto the coffin lid, casting a spell to suppress the Royal Zombie. Daoist Priest Simu immediately drew his Seven-Star Copper Sword and stabbed it into the zombie's arm.
"Bang!"
The coffin lid fell, and a disciple brought over a rope as thick as a wrist, tossing it to Daoist Priest Qianhe to bind the coffin.
"Boom!"
The coffin lid was sent flying by a single powerful strike from the zombie, and Daoist Priest Qianhe also tumbled to the ground, his leg pinned by the lid.
"Ah!" Daoist Priest Qianhe let out a miserable cry, "My leg is broken!"
Daoist Priest Simu shouted, "Quick, save your master!"
Having said that, he forced the zombie back with another sword strike. The surrounding soldiers were so frightened they retreated repeatedly, not daring to step forward, while one of the disciples stabbed his peach-wood sword from behind the zombie, only for the sword to shatter instantly.
The zombie turned around in a flash, thrusting both hands into the disciple's chest, and drained his blood in an instant.
Zhang Cheng arrived just in time; he ran over in a few quick strides and thrust his sword out, forcing the zombie back, though the damage was minimal. He was secretly alarmed; it truly lived up to the name of a Copper-Armored Zombie—he feared this strike had only broken through the corpse Qi.
Seeing Zhang Cheng appear, Daoist Priest Simu felt a slight sense of relief, then charged forward and slashed the zombie's back.
"Crack..."
The Seven-Star Copper Sword snapped in two.
Fortunately, Daoist Priest Simu reacted quickly and immediately performed a backflip to put some distance between them.
On this side, Daoist Priest Qianhe had been rescued by his disciples, but his leg was injured, and he had lost his ability to fight. He could only shout, "Use the magic rope to trap the zombie!"
The three disciples obeyed the order and immediately stepped forward to bind the zombie. Daoist Priest Qianhe tossed his own peach-wood sword to Daoist Priest Simu and shouted, "Senior Brother, catch!"
Daoist Priest Simu leaped up, caught the peach-wood sword, and took the opportunity to thrust it forward. The peach-wood sword shattered immediately, and Daoist Priest Simu retreated in the same motion, the zombie's claw strike missing its mark.
Zhang Cheng stepped in to take his place, thrusting his peach-wood sword three times in succession at the same spot; only then did he break through the zombie's protective corpse Qi and wound its physical body.
The injured zombie flew into a rage, grabbed the Dharma rope, and flung the three disciples away, breaking the formation.
Zhang Cheng was shocked and hurriedly said, "Daoist Priest Simu, quickly take Daoist Priest Qianhe and leave; we are no match for it!"
Daoist Priest Simu immediately hoisted Daoist Priest Qianhe up and fled, while Daoist Priest Qianhe cried out unwillingly, "East, South, West, North!"
When Attendant Wu saw the two Daoists running away, leaving only a pretty boy behind, he immediately ordered the four great guards to step forward. But the zombie had skin of copper and bones of iron—how could mere mortals resist it? The four great guards were killed in mere moments.
Zhang Cheng knew the fate of the four great guards; he immediately pushed Attendant Wu aside, wanting to step forward and scoop up the Seventy-First Prince. The Prince drew a jeweled dagger, but Zhang Cheng was quick-handed and sharp-eyed, slapping the dagger away and knocking the Prince unconscious to carry him off. Attendant Wu screamed as he chased after them; as for the remaining soldiers in the camp, they likely had no hope of survival.
The Copper-Armored Zombie was too strong; he was simply no match for it. Even with powerful Dharma treasures, it was a pity his own magic power was not strong enough to unleash their maximum effect.
Zhang Cheng carried the Seventy-First Prince back to the courtyard, and Attendant Wu was also running until he was out of breath. Seeing Zhang Cheng return safely, Daoist Priest Simu felt a weight lift from his heart.
Zhang Cheng immediately said, "The zombie will be here soon. Think of a way to beat it into a heavy injury; I have my own Dharma treasure to deal with it."
Daoist Priest Simu shook his head and said, "The Five-Thunder Command will only increase that zombie's strength."
Zhang Cheng took out the Spirit-Refining Treasure Gourd and said, "It is a family heirloom; we only need to beat the zombie into a heavy injury, and I will surely kill it!"
Daoist Priest Simu revealed a look of envy.
He immediately said, "Fine, rest assured, I have a way!"
Just as Zhang Cheng had expected, the Royal Zombie soon arrived in the woods outside the courtyard, but it did not attack directly, instead sending out a dozen walking corpses.
Seeing the walking corpses outside, Zhang Cheng immediately understood this was the Royal Zombie's feint. He whispered to Daoist Priest Simu, "This zombie has gained intelligence and wants to use a feint. Daoist Priest Simu, you lie in ambush beside the Seventy-First Prince."
Daoist Priest Simu handed Zhang Cheng a Seven-Star Copper Sword and said, "I have consecrated this; it is more than enough to deal with these walking corpses. I will go and ambush the zombie first."
Zhang Cheng immediately took the Seven-Star Copper Sword. He rushed to the corridor and made a commotion, and those walking corpses immediately ran over. With a peach-wood sword in his left hand and the Seven-Star Copper Sword in his right, dealing with these simple walking corpses was easy for him.
He threw the Seven-Star Copper Sword first, pinning a walking corpse to death, then rushed over to retrieve the sword while simultaneously thrusting the peach-wood sword to kill a high-level walking corpse that had approached.
This group of walking corpses was very fast and immediately surrounded Zhang Cheng. Zhang Cheng leaped up on the spot, stepped on the shoulder of a walking corpse, and performed a backflip to jump out of the encirclement. A walking corpse reached out but missed Zhang Cheng's ankle, hitting its companion in the face instead, and the two walking corpses began to fight each other.
As soon as Zhang Cheng landed, he thrust his sword out, killing a walking corpse from behind, then threw the Seven-Star Copper Sword again to kill another. He then pulled a talisman paper given by Daoist Priest Simu from his robe, tossed it out, and used his magic power to freeze five walking corpses in place.
The remaining two walking corpses were still fighting; Zhang Cheng took the opportunity to draw his peach-wood sword and Seven-Star Copper Sword to finish off the two biting each other, then killed the five frozen walking corpses.
"Eleven walking corpses killed, gained 1,100 points of merit."
Hearing this number, Zhang Cheng wanted to laugh out loud. This was the first time he had gained so many merit points; they could be used perfectly for cultivating his techniques.
However, he could not rest yet; sounds of fighting were already coming from the room, and he had to go support them.
The Royal Zombie had indeed come to ambush the little Prince, but it had been ambushed by Daoist Priest Simu and was not injured; however, with Master Yixiu's help, the Royal Zombie had also suffered a setback.
But the Royal Zombie had skin of copper and bones of iron; whether it was the Seven-Star Copper Sword, the copper coin sword, or the peach-wood sword, none could break its defense.
Seeing Zhang Cheng, Daoist Priest Simu shouted, "Wow, Ah Sheng, come help! We can't hold on!"
Zhang Cheng immediately sprinted, leaped with all his might, covered a distance of five meters, and kicked the zombie, forcing it back two meters.
He hurriedly said, "Daoist Priest Simu, quickly use your ultimate technique to beat it into a heavy injury!"
Daoist Priest Simu nodded and said, "Then you hold on for now!" Having said that, he ran off to invite the Patriarch to possess him.
Zhang Cheng immediately threw out several talisman papers, but they burned up after freezing the zombie for only a second. Master Yixiu was shocked and said, "Even the talisman papers are useless! My magic treasures are all broken. Does Daoist Friend Ah Sheng have any other way?"
Zhang Cheng held his peach-wood sword and rushed forward, quickly thrusting five times to force the zombie back again, but the peach-wood sword also lost its effectiveness. He immediately dropped the peach-wood sword, took off his Dharma robe, and threw it out, trapping the zombie for two seconds before the robe was torn to shreds.
"My thirty points of merit!"
Zhang Cheng had no time to feel the heartache; he hurriedly kicked the zombie in mid-air and used the force to retreat a few steps.
"There's no other way, retreat quickly!"
Master Yixiu hurriedly exited the room, and the group immediately arrived at the place where Daoist Priest Simu worshipped the Patriarch. As soon as they entered, they saw a giant man with bulging muscles.
The Royal Zombie happened to jump in as well.
"Hmph!"
Daoist Priest Simu glared at the zombie, stepped forward, and knocked the zombie to the ground with one punch, then grabbed the zombie's leg and threw it against the wall, smashing a pile of things.
Just as the zombie stood up, Daoist Priest Simu walked up to it, his sandbag-sized fists striking the zombie repeatedly, causing it to howl in pain.
The next second, Daoist Priest Simu let out a cry of pain; it turned out he had stepped on a shard, and since there were too many taboos for this Spirit Invocation possession, this mishap caused his Qi to dissipate instantly.
Fortunately, the Imperial Zombie had been beaten miserably, and Zhang Cheng saw his chance; taking advantage of the zombie's lack of reaction, he immediately took out the Evil-Refining Treasure Gourd and shouted: "Receive!"
That Imperial Zombie was instantly sucked into the treasure gourd.
Daoist Priest Simu and Master Yixiu watched in astonishment. Daoist Priest Simu stared dumbfounded and said: "How does your family still have a treasure gourd!"
Zhang Cheng put away the treasure gourd and laughed: "I am ashamed, I am ashamed, it is merely a legacy left by my ancestors."
