Chapter 15: Buying a Car
Chen Mo got off the vehicle with Gao Jin and two goons, walked into Da Sha's dock, and immediately someone came to block the way.
"What do you want?"
The two goons, with cigarettes in their mouths, held steel pipes in their hands and blocked the few people in front of them.
Two more henchmen behind them were about to step forward, but Chen Mo reached out and stopped them.
The problem with triad thugs is exactly this—they're always ready to strike.
"Great Prosperity Chen Mo, here to see Da Sha. Is Da Sha here?"
"Come with us!"
The two henchmen, upon hearing they were Great Prosperity's men, immediately restrained their attitude.
Da Sha was at that moment sunbathing by the dock, and heard his subordinate report.
Upon learning Chen Mo had arrived, he immediately stood up to greet him.
"Mo Ge, hello. Truly, hearing about you is nothing compared to meeting you. Your physique is really strong, worthy of a Fist Demon!"
Da Sha may be called a fool, but he's not foolish at all—truly, a fool wouldn't have made his car business this big.
Although he's in Sai Kung, his information network is very swift.
Hong Tai knows that one night the flag was taken, Dragon Head disappeared, and the hall master was killed.
He wouldn't dare to neglect a ruthless guy like Chen Mo at all.
Even though he's not afraid of Chen Mo, there's no need to offend him.
In the end, he's a businessman who values harmony for profit.
"Da Sha, I heard that across the whole Gangdao, your cars are the most comprehensive. I'm here today specifically to buy a few good cars from you."
Chen Mo is no dimwit like those of Chen Haonan; wherever he goes, he carries himself as the top and I'm the second.
No enmity, no grievance, why need to offend Da Sha?
Da Sha became even more enthusiastic: "Mo Ge is right, no one on the whole Gangdao dares to claim their cars are more comprehensive and cheaper than mine."
"The batch of good cars just arrived a few days ago, perfect for Mo Ge to pick first."
Da Sha led the group to a warehouse, opened the door, and inside were all kinds of luxury cars.
"Here they are, all luxury cars, brand new, just arrived a few days ago. Mo Ge, pick any you like."
Chen Mo scanned the area, pointed at a Mercedes, and asked, "What's the price of this car?"
"Mo Ge has good taste! The latest Tiger Head Run, market price 800,000, I can sell it for 600,000, paperwork and registration included. How about it?"
Chen Mo nodded; although most of Da Sha's cars are smuggled, this price is indeed cheap.
"Do you have something a bit lower grade? Around 200,000 price range?"
"Yes, of course we have."
Da Sha led them a few steps inside, pointed at a car and said, "Toyota Crown, top trim, with air‑conditioning, truly a luxury item among private cars. If Mo Ge wants it, 180,000 will do!"
Chen Mo nodded again and said to Gao Jin beside him, "A‑Jin, you pick one too."
Gao Jin shook his head, "No need, the one I'm driving now is fine!"
"If you don't pick, that's fine; you're my brother, just get the same as me!"
Chen Mo turned to Da Sha and said, "Two Crowns, and also one Tiger Head Run; how long will the paperwork take?"
Da Sha was overjoyed, having thought Chen Mo had just seized a territory and was short on cash, never expecting him to order three cars at once.
"One day is enough," Da Sha pounded his chest and guaranteed.
"Alright, after the Tiger Head Run's paperwork is done, deliver it to my sister; send the Crown to Nüren Jie. Arrange for your henchmen to meet me at the car to collect the money!"
The 600,000 Tiger Head Run, Chen Mo likes it, but driving it now would be too ostentatious.
Even Jiang Tiansheng hasn't driven a Tiger Head Run.
But giving one to Thirteen Sister is no problem.
As one of Great Prosperity's twelve top leaders, driving a luxury car won't raise eyebrows.
It just so happens Thirteen Sister is exempt from the Nüren Jie levy; gifting her a luxury car is fitting and will boost her face.
"No problem, Mo Ge is generous! Tomorrow I'll have someone deliver the car and paperwork to Mo Ge."
After leaving Da Sha, the group didn't head straight back to Wang Jiao.
Under Chen Mo's command, the two cars drove toward the countryside of Ci Yun Shan and finally stopped in front of a village house.
Chen Mo got out and knocked on the door.
A sturdy yet slightly disheveled young man heard the noise and came out.
"Mo Ge?" the young man called out, doubtful, upon seeing Chen Mo.
"What's up, Da Tou? It's only been a few months, you don't recognize me?"
"No, it's just I don't dare to believe it," Da Tou said, touching the back of his head cautiously.
It's no wonder Da Tou is hesitant; when they first met in Chi Zhu, Chen Mo was dressed in prison uniform, his beard unkempt, violently subduing the troublemakers in the prison yard, looking wildly feral.
Now in a crisp suit, he looks much more refined.
"Da Tou, back in Chi Zhu I told you that Da B wasn't a good boss, right? How about now, you believe it?"
"Mm!" Da Tou lowered his head and remained silent.
Da Tou and Chen Mo met in Chi Zhu; Da Tou left Chi Zhu a few months before Chen Mo.
Back then in Chi Zhu, Chen Mo told him Da B wasn't righteous, his eyes only on Chen Haonan; even if he helped Da B serve time, Da B wouldn't let him advance.
At that time Da Tou didn't believe it, thinking that once he left Chi Zhu, he could earn a position through his merits.
Before Da Tou left, Chen Mo told him, after leaving, don't contact anyone, and see how long it takes for Da B and his close brother Chen Haonan to remember him.
As Chen Mo predicted, Da Tou had been out of Chi Zhu for several months and was still living in a village house in the countryside.
If Chen Mo hadn't come today, he would probably be setting up a stall to sell magazines in a few days.
Chen Mo patted Da Tou on the shoulder: "Back when we were in Chi Zhu, I asked you to follow me, but you refused. Now I've made it, I have money and territory, just lacking talent. Come work with me, how about it?"
"Okay, thanks for taking a liking to me, Mo Ge—I'll work hard."
Da Tou said resolutely.
After waiting months in the countryside, he is now completely and utterly disappointed in Da B, Chen Hao Nan, and the others.
He had been following Da B since his teens, helping him in campaigns south and north.
Many of Da B's underlings were originally brought in by Da Tou, and even Chen Hao Nan's boxing was taught by him.
As a result, he spent three years in prison for Da B, yet not a single one of them came to visit him.
Now that he's been out for a few months, nobody has thought of him.
On the contrary, it was Chen Mo, whom he had only known for a few months in Chi Zhu, who personally came to pick him up, bringing great solace to his wounded spirit.
"Okay, I'm not like Da B—if you follow me, I can't guarantee how soon you'll make it, but you'll never lack money to spend, and you'll definitely have your day to shine."
"I've just taken Nüren Jie, and there will be more opportunities to earn merit ahead, and plenty of them."
After laying out that big promise, Da Tou felt a bit overfed, wishing he could go out and slash someone right now.
