Chapter 219: Film Launch

Faced with the admiration of the two women, Chen Mo raised his eyebrows and proudly said: "Of course, aside from having children, there's nothing I can't do."

Chen Mo suddenly realized that being a plagiarist wasn't bad either!

However, thinking about his turf and the several thousand underlings, he decided against it.

It's still better to be a Triad Society Big Boss and a big tycoon.

Chen Mo provided the plot, and Qin Huilian could then write the full script.

After being scolded by Chen Mo, Xian Shihui naturally became much more honest.

After helping the beautiful women fill in gaps for two hours in the office, Chen Mo returned to the bar.

Two days later, Chen Mo received a call from Qin Huilian; the script was finished.

Chen Mo came to the film company once again.

This time, besides Xian Shihui and the others, the film company had a few unfamiliar faces, appearing to be in their thirties or forties.

Upon seeing Chen Mo arrive, Xian Shihui, eager to show off, brought several people over to introduce him: "Mo Ge, these few are the ones who just came from Cao's Film Company these past two days. This is Director Li Yaofu, Writer Chen Jia Mu, and the others are the cinematographer and lighting technician."

Chen Mo looked and thought, "Great catch, Xian Shihui has poached several core members of a film crew!"

With these few people, after randomly hiring a few more, they could reconstitute a full film crew.

"Well done."

Chen Mo nodded, took out his wallet, pulled out several big gold bulls from it, and threw them at Xian Shihui.

"This is the bonus for this job."

"Besides, you guys go to the meeting room first and wait for me; I'll be there shortly."

"Okay, Mo Ge." Xian Shihui took the money, beaming, and pulled the several people behind him to the meeting room.

Chen Mo first went to Liu Piaopiao's office, found Liu Piaopiao and Qin Huilian, and took a look at Qin Huilian's newly written script.

"Hmm, with the plot provided by Chen Mo, Qin Huilian's script this time is much better."

"\"Chin, you did a great job on this script. \""

Qin Huilian said somewhat shyly: "Not really, thanks to the story you provided, and I also enlisted the help of the newly arrived Writer Chen, which is how I managed to write it."

Chen Mo continued praising: "It's nothing; even with help, one needs talent to write well."

"Come on, let's go to the meeting room together to discuss how to shoot the script."

"Great, I can be the female lead!"

Upon hearing they could film a movie, Liu Piaopiao's face lit up with excitement.

Qin Huilian's face also showed delight.

Chen Mo gave Liu Piaopiao a somewhat speechless look.

She obviously hadn't read the script carefully.

Aside from the role of Tian Yang En, this script hardly has any female scenes—what are you getting excited about!

Several people arrived at the meeting room, where Xian Shihui and the others were already waiting.

Chen Mo took the head seat, with Liu Piaopiao and Qin Huilian sitting on either side of him.

"Director Li, you and Writer Chen take a look—how is the script's quality?"

Saying that, Chen Mo tossed the script in his hand to Li Yaofu.

Li Yaofu picked up the script and, together with Chen Jia Mu beside him, began to flip through it.

Chen Mo and the others remained silent, just waiting for them.

Although Chen Jia Mu had given Qin Huilian some pointers, he had not yet read the full script.

After several minutes, the two had roughly gone through the script.

Chen Mo stubbed out his cigarette and asked, "How is it? Can it be filmed?"

Li Yaofu looked at the script, his face full of surprise: "It can be filmed, definitely can be filmed. This script is quite good, with blockbuster potential."

Before being poached by Xian Shihui, he had inquired about this film company and knew it used to shoot low-grade third-rate films.

If it weren't for Xian Shihui promising him a raise and using the Triad Society to intimidate him, he wouldn't have come!

He originally thought his lifelong reputation would be ruined in an instant, but he didn't expect the script Chen Mo produced to be of fairly high quality.

His reputation might be preserved after all.

"I also think Miss Qin's script is very well written; to achieve this quality on her first script is quite rare."

Chen Jia Mu also spoke up to praise.

Chen Mo nodded and continued: "As long as it can be filmed, that's fine. Director Li, estimate how much money would be needed to shoot the film."

"Well..." When it came to money, Li Yaofu felt reluctant to speak.

"What's the matter? Don't hem and haw—just speak up if you have something to say!"

"This script is of high quality, and it also has many action and gunfight scenes. To film it well, good actors and martial arts instructors are indispensable."

"In that case, the cost might be relatively high."

After all, this film company used to shoot low-grade third-rate films, so its costs were never high.

Shooting a proper mainstream theatrical film, especially a crime film, the cost won't be low.

Li Yaofu worried that if he quoted a figure too far from what Chen Mo was used to, Chen Mo might suspect him of trying to embezzle money, so he didn't know how to speak up.

So he decided to give Chen Mo a heads-up first.

Unexpectedly, Chen Mo's expression didn't change, and he said, "Just give a number."

Li Yaofu steeled himself and said, "At least ten million!"

Chen Mo still hadn't reacted, but Xian Shihui was first startled, then exclaimed: "How much! Ten million? Are you crazy!"

He used to shoot third-rate films, where a whole film would cost only a few hundred thousand, at most one million.

Ten million, at least that, would be enough for him to shoot over ten third-rate films.

Seeing Xian Shihui's startled and fidgety look, Chen Mo glared at him fiercely.

Noticing Chen Mo's gaze, Xian Shihui hastily sat properly.

But he still couldn't help staring at Li Yaofu.

He worried that Li Yaofu would speak loudly and, if he angered Chen Mo, it would drag him in.

However, Chen Mo wasn't angry; he just thought silently for a moment, then said: 'This price is acceptable. Go ahead and make a budget breakdown for me; if there's no problem, we can start shooting.'

Chen Mo's answer left Xian Shihui stunned.

Ten million! Did Chen Mo just agree so casually?

Actually, Chen Mo had roughly calculated: before time-travel, the film 'Men's True Colors' was filmed in the early 2000s, with a production cost of eighty million.

It's only 1987 now, prices are lower, and actors' pay is also lower.

A budget of ten million is about right.

Upon hearing Chen Mo agree to a ten million budget, Li Yaofu also breathed a sigh of relief.

It seems this boss knows his stuff, not a clueless idiot.

Li Yaofu continued asking: 'Boss, do you have any favorite actors? I'll go invite them later.'

Chen Mo gave Li Yaofu an unhappy glance; he was about to praise you a bit, then you come up with this?

Am I spending money to make a film just for the unspoken rules?

Even if there is such a perk, couldn't you mention it to me privately at another time?

The police officer's girlfriend who appears first can be played by Piaopiao; as for the other actors, you decide them yourself as long as they're suitable.

By the way, what about Yin Tianchou? See if there's a suitable role for him in the film and arrange one for him.

Liu Piaopiao said somewhat embarrassedly: 'That... Yin Tianchou hasn't been at the company these days. He said the company isn't working now, he's idle anyway, so he's gone to other crews to work as an extra.'

'Alright.' Chen Mo was also somewhat speechless.
