Chapter 73: Frame-Up
Chen Mo didn't go home early tonight.
Chen Mo had rented two apartments near his home for the six female soldiers to live in; they split into two shifts, staying close to Gang Sheng and Qiu Di at all times to protect their safety.
Chen Mo also provided them with cars.
These past few days, He Min's pickups and drop-offs were all handled by the female bodyguards.
Whether Chen Mo went home or not, it didn't make much difference at home.
At a little past eight in the evening, Chen Mo was drinking on the first floor of the bar.
A young lackey brought Ann over.
"Mo Ge, this woman says she's looking for you."
This lackey had been keeping watch at Yinhejiuba all along and didn't know Ann, but since she was a pretty woman, he brought her over anyway.
"Alright, go on with your work."
Chen Mo waved for the lackey to leave and beckoned Ann to sit beside him.
"Here so early? Made up your mind?"
Ann lowered her head and said softly, "I've made up my mind. I'm willing to be Mo Ge's woman."
"Not bad, pretty sensible."
Chen Mo pinched Ann's cheek, then turned to Fei Ji and the others beside him and said, "Keep an eye out these next few days, watch out for people from Dongxing causing trouble. I have things to do, so I'm heading off first."
Today he'd gone to Dongxing's turf and dealt with Sex Demon Xiong; there was no way Dongxing wouldn't try to get back at him.
"Got it, Mo Ge."
"Don't worry, Mo Ge."
The few of them gave Chen Mo a knowing smile and nodded in agreement.
Chen Mo stood up and said to Ann beside him, "Come with me."
Ann blushed, stood up, and followed behind Chen Mo out of the bar.
Chen Mo took Ann to find a hotel and booked a room.
Ann wasn't like Gang Sheng and Qiu Di; even though she was also a new car on the road, Chen Mo didn't dare stomp on the gas too hard.
But as a girl who grew up in Gangdao and had worked as a goldfish at the bar for a few months, Ann far surpassed Gang Sheng and Qiu Di in terms of knowledge reserves and acceptance of positions.
Chen Mo didn't go home for three straight days.
Just as Chen Mo was planning to go home early tonight to keep the two at home company, Fei Ji burst frantically into Chen Mo's office.
"Mo Ge, a ton of cops showed up!"
"What's going on?" Chen Mo asked with a frown.
Police checking licenses happened occasionally, but it shouldn't have made Fei Ji this panicked.
"The cops say they got a tip that our bar is hiding drugs. They're searching downstairs right now!"
"Let's go down and take a look!"
Chen Mo frowned, stood up, and went downstairs.
At that moment, quite a few cops were searching the first and second floors of the bar.
When Chen Mo reached the first floor, an inspector with insignia on his shoulder was standing in the main hall, waiting for his men to report.
Before Chen Mo could speak, a young cop came out of the restroom holding a bag of white powder.
"Found it!"
The inspector glanced at the white powder in the young cop's hand, then pulled out his badge toward Chen Mo.
"You're Chen Mo, right? I'm Senior Inspector Fang Zhixin from the Narcotics Investigation Unit of Wang Jiao Police Station. I suspect you of involvement in concealing and trafficking drugs. Please come with us for investigation."
With that, Fang Zhixin waved his hand, and two cops behind him took out handcuffs, ready to cuff Chen Mo.
A group of Chen Mo's lackeys immediately surrounded them.
Fei Ji and Gao Jin directly blocked in front of Chen Mo, stopping the two cops.
"You want to arrest our Mo Ge? You tired of living?"
"What are you doing? Are you trying to assault police?" Fang Zhixin shouted loudly, directly drawing his gun and pointing it at Chen Mo's lackeys.
Chen Mo's face turned grim.
White powder had appeared in his venue, and the cops just happened to find it—clearly someone was framing him.
"A-Jin, Fei Ji, don't be impulsive."
Chen Mo reached out and pushed Fei Ji and Gao Jin aside, stepping up to Fang Zhixin.
Chen Mo never touched drugs, and this was his first time seeing this Fang Zhixin.
"Officer Fang, right? Even though this bag was found in my bar, you don't have evidence that I hid it, do you?"
"Even if you didn't hide it, drugs were found in your bar, so you're definitely involved. You have to come with us no matter what."
"I can go with you, but wait a moment. I need to say a few words."
"No. As a criminal suspect now, I must ensure you don't find someone to destroy your criminal evidence."
Chen Mo frowned deeply and said coldly to Fang Zhixin in a threatening tone, "I'm not asking for your opinion. Do you think you can leave if I don't agree?"
The surrounding lackeys pressed in a few steps closer, each rolling up their sleeves, ready to throw down at any moment.
"You..." Fang Zhixin's face instantly turned extremely ugly, at a loss for words.
Chen Mo didn't bother looking at Fang Zhixin's reaction anymore and directly made arrangements in front of him: "A-Jin, investigate this thoroughly. Find out where this bag came from.
Also, check the other places well too, see if there are any more we missed.
Fei Ji, tell your sisters-in-law not to worry."
If someone was really framing him, they might not have only planted drugs at Yinhejiuba; there could be some at other bars or nightclubs too.
Chen Mo guessed that either this group of cops was staging it themselves, or those bastards from Dongxing did it.
If it was done by my own underlings, they wouldn't put it in the toilet on the first floor.
Doing this basically has no big impact on Chen Mo; at most it would shut down the bar for a few days.
If they put this packet in Chen Mo's office, that would really be trouble.
Arriving at the police bureau, it was still the same interrogation room as last time.
Chen Mo sat calmly opposite Fang Zhixin, looking at him with a blank expression.
"Fang sir, everyone in Wang Jiao knows my venue is the cleanest; I don't know why you insist on targeting me."
"Drugs were found in your bar; do you think you can get away with it? If you're smart, you'd better confess who your supplier is—I might even turn you into a material witness."
Fang Zhongxin had a stern look; in his view, there are no small-time dealers who don't deal powder.
Chen Mo is just hiding it more deeply.
Since drugs were found in his venue this time, we must definitely nail him.
Especially since I heard lately that Police Bureau Chief Huang Bingyao might be promoted and transferred to the Xijiulong General Bureau, which would free up a position here.
As long as they don't parachute in a bureau chief, quite a few people at the Wang Jiao Police Bureau will get promoted along the way.
If he can completely nail Chen Mo, this deeply hidden drug lord, he might even get a promotion by the opportunity.
Chen Mo could tell from his appearance that this Fang Zhongxin was tough to deal with, and he lost any interest in continuing the conversation.
"Fang sir, although that packet was found in my bar, there are so many people coming and going in the bar—what evidence could prove it's related to me?"
"You can detain me at most one night; I hope that before my lawyer arrives tomorrow, you can find something useful."
Having said that, Chen Mo closed his eyes to rest, no longer paying attention to Fang Zhixin opposite him.
Fang Zhixin saw Chen Mo's demeanor, also knowing he couldn't get anything out of him; after a cold snort, he turned and left.
He simply didn't believe Chen Mo was really that clean.
Chen Mo controls five streets, with over twenty bars and nightclubs.
Tonight he deployed so many people; as long as they search Chen Mo's establishments one by one, they refuse to believe they won't find evidence of his drug dealing.
