Chapter 92: Returning the Gun
Returning to the entrance bar, Chen Mo checked his watch—it wasn't even twelve yet.
"Ah Jin, take the money and keep it safe. Deliver the documents directly to Jimi tomorrow.
Also, everyone who went out with me last night gets a fifty thousand bonus. Tian Yang Sheng and Tian Yang Yi each get a hundred thousand."
"Got it, Mo Ge!"
After Gao Jin left with the money, Chen Mo drove off on his own.
He had also arranged to meet Huang Bingyao to return the police gun to him.
The rooftop of a building in Wang Jiao.
Chen Mo spotted a short, stocky figure ahead, quietly walked up behind it, and shouted right next to the ear.
"Hey!"
"Who!" Huang Bingyao jumped in fright, spun around swiftly, and raised his leg to kick.
Chen Mo quickly stepped back, dodging Huang Bingyao's groin kick.
"Sir Huang, did you really have to hit that hard!"
"Damn it, you dead punk, don't you know you can scare a person to death!"
Seeing it was Chen Mo, Huang Bingyao relaxed and kept patting his chest.
"Long time no see. Just messing with you."
"Mess with your mother's head! Aren't you afraid of being discovered!"
"Relax, I checked before coming up. No one around."
In the middle of the night, who would still be wandering outside, let alone on a building rooftop like this.
"Did you ask to meet me because you found my precious police gun?"
"What crappy gun—the firing pin is all rusted. It can't even fire."
Chen Mo pulled out Huang Bingyao's police revolver and tossed it straight to him.
Huang Bingyao caught the gun and carefully inspected it.
After confirming it was his service weapon, Huang Bingyao tucked the police gun away as carefully as if it were a treasure.
"This gun is the gun of kindness. It's been with me for over thirty years and hasn't been fired once."
"No wonder there's so much organized crime in Gangdao. Thirty-plus years without firing a shot—who knows how you ever made Senior Superintendent," Chen Mo quipped.
"You kidding? Among all the cops in Gangdao, who doesn't know my Deadly Scissor Legs! I can take on twenty-plus guys single-handedly—why would I need to fire a gun?" Huang Bingyao looked cocky. "By the way, where did you find my baby?"
"At Da Fei's place, of course!" Chen Mo said nonchalantly.
There was no need to hide this from Huang Bingyao.
Even if Chen Mo didn't say it, Huang Bingyao would probably figure it out on his own before long.
Huang Bingyao was startled: "You took out Da Fei?"
"Obviously. You think Da Fei would just hand the gun over to me himself?"
"You dead punk, causing trouble for me again! Let me ask you—did Da Fei have any firearms?"
"I don't know. I only found your crappy gun."
He definitely couldn't say anything about the firearms, or this fat bastard would surely push his luck and make Chen Mo hand them over.
"Then it's over!" Huang Bingyao looked utterly deflated, like someone whose mother had died.
"What's wrong?" Chen Mo asked curiously.
It was just taking out one Da Fei.
Minor gang bosses of his level died several a year in Gangdao—what consequences could there be?
"According to intelligence we police received, this Da Fei recently bought a batch of firearms. Now Da Fei's dead and his underlings have scattered.
That batch of firearms is now missing—it could blow up into a major incident at any time!"
Chen Mo patted Huang Bingyao on the shoulder and consoled him: "Relax, aren't you about to get promoted? As long as nothing happens before your promotion, you're fine.
Once you're transferred away from Wang Jiao Police Station, even if something happens, it won't have anything to do with you!"
"You make it sound so easy! My promotion is to Xijiulong Regional Headquarters—you think that's Police Headquarters!" Huang Bingyao said irritably.
Wang Jiao Police Station was under the jurisdiction of Xijiulong Regional Headquarters. If a major case broke out in Wang Jiao, it really could end up implicating Huang Bingyao.
But that batch of firearms was now in Chen Mo's hands.
Chen Mo could ensure nothing would go wrong.
At least nothing would go wrong because of that batch of firearms.
Huang Bingyao suddenly seemed to remember something: "By the way, did you offend Huang Ziyang recently?"
"Huang Ziyang?" Chen Mo thought for a moment, then finally remembered who Huang Ziyang was. "I wouldn't call it offending him—he just tried to steal my woman and failed!"
"Damn, you punk, every day it's either killing people or chasing women! Nothing but trouble for me."
Huang Bingyao couldn't resist kicking Chen Mo in the butt.
"A few days ago he applied to me to swap jurisdictions with Li Ying, saying he was confident he could find evidence against you.
I'd say he's got his eye on you."
"Fuck!" Chen Mo cursed inwardly. He hadn't expected this Huang Ziyang to be so petty—actually targeting him just over the matter with He Min.
"You didn't agree, did you?"
"No, you're my little brother, of course I'll help you! But this Huang Ziyang has connections too. Once I'm transferred, he'll probably still come after you."
Chen Mo asked curiously: "What kind of connections? Not bigger than yours, right?"
"Not quite that. His uncle is the Chief Inspector at Jianshazui Police Station. Word is he has great relationships with those gwailo and is about to be promoted to Superintendent. It's only because of those gwailo's face that Huang Ziyang became a Senior Inspector so young!"
"Then no problem—as long as he's not your nephew!"
A Chief Inspector at Jianshazui, surnamed Huang—could it be Huang Zhi Cheng?
Chen Mo rubbed his chin, feeling more and more that it was possible.
In the Hong Kong variety-show world, any kind of crazy connection is possible.
They chatted a while longer, then each went their separate ways.
On the way, Chen Mo thought it over and went straight home.
He spent the night at Ann's place yesterday; tonight he definitely has to go home.
May the rain and dew fall evenly on all!
The next day, at the Yinhejiuba office.
"Gao Jin, these few days have someone keep an eye on Liu Yaozu—he took a huge loss last night, he might not let it go."
"Mo Ge, should we just have someone take him out?"
"Not yet, his life might still be useful."
"Taking out Liu Yaozu would be easy, but it's unnecessary."
"Also, find a chance to go to his villa and steal something."
"What?"
"Liu Yaozu's home has a heated box for keeping lizards; at the bottom of that box is a document—please retrieve it for me."
"That's a bond worth three hundred million; we can't let just anyone know about it."
"Among Chen Mo's subordinates, he trusts Gao Jin the most."
"Only Gao Jin can handle this."
"Sure!"
"As for why Chen Mo knows about Liu Yaozu's household situation, Gao Jin isn't curious at all."
"His boss is capable; knowing anything isn't surprising."
"Just as Gao Jin was leaving, Chen Mo called him back: 'Have Ruby come over.'"
"A few minutes later, Ruby arrived at Chen Mo's office."
"'Mo Ge, you called for me?'"
"She was still in a cheongsam, full of charm."
Chen Mo looked up at Ruby, patted his own thigh, and said, "Come sit."
The two of them already knew each other's ins and outs; no need to say much.
"A little more sincerity, a little less pretense."
Ruby didn't hold back, walked over with a sultry look, sat directly on Chen Mo's thigh, and wrapped her arms around his neck.
"'How, the two elder sisters-in-law at home aren't enough for you?'"
"'I'm full at home, but there's no harm in coming out for a snack!'"
Then Chen Mo became a melon-field mole and began lowering his head to eat melons.
