Chapter 38

Secondly, Gao Qiqiang was easy to control.

Gao Qiqiang's parents were both dead, leaving three siblings to rely on each other.

Gao Qiqiang was the eldest, with a younger brother and a younger sister below him.

Family ties were always the best shackles; as long as he controlled the younger brother and sister, Gao Qiqiang would never betray him.

Thinking of this, Ni Yongyao immediately decided to act.

"Kong Sang, notify Han Chen to come see me."

Ni Yongyao ordered.

"Yes, Master."

Kong Sang agreed, then picked up the mobile phone, dialed Han Chen's number, and conveyed Ni Yongyao's instructions.

Twenty minutes later.

Han Chen arrived at the study.

"Mr. Ni, you were looking for me?"

Han Chen asked.

"There is something I need you to do."

Ni Yongyao smoked his cigar and said slowly, "We have established a partnership with the Construction Group in Jinghai and need to arrange an agent in Jinghai."

"Go to Jinghai, go to the Old Factory Street vegetable market, find a fishmonger named Gao Qiqiang, and bring him here."

"Oh, and he has a younger brother and sister; bring them along too."

"Mr. Ni, if that Gao Qiqiang is unwilling to come, can I use some methods?"

Han Chen asked.

"Watch your attitude; the methods must be gentle."

"I am having Gao Qiqiang be an agent, not creating an enemy, understand?"

Ni Yongyao said.

"Yes, Mr. Ni, I understand."

Han Chen nodded.

"Also, once you get to Jinghai, if you encounter any trouble you can't handle, you can ask the Construction Group for help."

Ni Yongyao tossed Chen Tai and Chen Shuting's business cards to Han Chen.

"Go, get this done as soon as possible."

Ni Yongyao waved his hand.

That afternoon.

The Ni family welcomed an uninvited guest.

"Mr. Ni, hello, I am the head of the Motorola Hong Kong branch. You can call me Charlie."

Charlie was a foreigner with a head of golden curly hair who came before Ni Yongyao to introduce himself.

Hearing the words "head of the Motorola Hong Kong branch," Ni Yongyao instantly understood Charlie's intentions.

The terrifying sales volume of twenty thousand units on the very day the Galaxy I was released had already demonstrated the potential to dominate the entire Hong Kong market.

And this potential would be realized before long.

As such, it was only natural that Motorola couldn't sit still.

"I don't like to beat around the bush. Let's be direct: what are you here for?"

Ni Yongyao asked.

"I am very optimistic about the product your company produces; it has great potential."

"If possible, I would like to acquire all the patent technology for this product."

Charlie said, pulling out an exquisite checkbook, as if he would pay immediately if Ni Yongyao just said the word.

"Thank you for being optimistic about my product, but unfortunately, I have no intention of selling."

Ni Yongyao said.

"Mr. Ni, you might want to reconsider. I can definitely give you a number that will satisfy you."

Charlie said, refusing to give up.

"This isn't about money."

Ni Yongyao's attitude was firm.

The pager business, for Ni Yongyao, was not just as simple as making money.

It also shouldered the role of increasing social influence.

In a sense, influence was even more important than making money.

Ni Yongyao was preparing to lead the Ni family to wash their hands of their past and go legitimate, which would only be possible if they possessed extremely high social prestige.

Seeing that Ni Yongyao wouldn't budge at all, Charlie sighed helplessly.

Although he had guessed this was likely the result before coming, he still felt some regret.

With Charlie's eye for business, he could naturally see that neither Motorola nor any other brand's pagers were a match for the Galaxy I.

Chinese character display could be deciphered, the design could be imitated, and quality could be improved with better materials—these were all easy to solve.

But the price alone was something no one could handle.

At the same quality, the price couldn't be brought down; at the same price, the quality couldn't keep up.

Three thousand dollars—a price that made Charlie despair.

Charlie racked his brains but couldn't figure out why the Galaxy I could be so cheap.

He even suspected whether Ni Yongyao was running a charity and doing business at a loss.

Seeing that it was only a matter of time before the market was completely occupied.

Charlie couldn't sit still, which was why he had come to see Ni Yongyao, holding onto a glimmer of hope.

Hoping that Ni Yongyao was just an upstart who only cared about money, and that he could buy the patent for the Galaxy I.

Yet the reality was that there was simply nothing to talk about.

"Mr. Ni, if you ever change your mind, feel free to contact me."

With his hopes dashed, Charlie could only leave a business card, perform a gentlemanly gesture, and turn to leave.

"I won't see you out."

Ni Yongyao looked at the business card, intending to throw it away, but after considering it, he put it away.

Perhaps it would be useful later.

"Beep, beep, beep!"

Just then, Ni Yongyao's mobile phone rang.

After answering, Yuri's voice sounded.

"Mr. Ni, my ship is about to dock, right at the Sai Kung pier."

"Good, I will send someone over."

Ni Yongyao said and hung up the phone.

He hadn't expected Yuri to come so quickly this time.

The last arms shipment took about seven days, but this time it was delivered in just four.

Ni Yongyao then ordered Taylor to rush to the Sai Kung pier to retrieve the M500 revolver he had ordered.

One hour later.

Taylor returned, but not alone; he had brought two people back with him.

One was Yuri, and the other was a young man he didn't recognize.

"Mr. Ni, we meet again."

Seeing Ni Yongyao, Yuri laughed heartily, opened his arms exaggeratedly, and gave Ni Yongyao a hug.

It was as intimate as if they were brothers.

"Who is he?"

Ni Yongyao gave Yuri a perfunctory hug and asked.

"Almost forgot to introduce you. This is my brother, Vitaly."
