Chapter 73
Ni Yongyao picked up the phone and said.
“Ni Yongyao, you’ve got a strong constitution. Did you see the contents of the tape? That’s a little gift I prepared for you.”
Han Bin’s voice rang out from the speaker.
“Who are you?” Ni Yongyao asked.
“You really are a noble person with a short memory. We met just a month ago. Thanks to you, my injuries still haven’t healed.”
Hearing that Ni Yongyao didn’t recognize him, Han Bin was instantly filled with rage.
“So it’s you.”
Ni Yongyao remembered Han Bin, but he didn’t have any particular reaction, then asked, “You’re torturing Chen Yongren and sending me the tape—what’s the meaning of this?”
“To let you experience the feeling of a loved one suffering.
Ni Yongyao, I’ll give you half an hour. Bring one million to Kwai Tsing immediately, and you must come alone.
If you’re late or bring your men, I can’t guarantee what parts your brother will be missing…”
Han Bin said in a deep voice.
But before Han Bin could finish his sentence, Ni Yongyao hung up the phone directly.
“Inexplicable.”
Ni Yongyao took a puff of his cigar, almost amused by Han Bin’s actions. Chen Yongren’s life or death had nothing to do with him; let alone missing a part, he wouldn’t even frown if he were hacked to pieces.
On the other side, at the Kwai Tsing factory.
“F*** you, Ni Yongyao!”
Looking at the hung-up phone, Han Bin was instantly furious.
This was completely different from what Han Bin had expected. In his plan, Ni Yongyao should have been anxious because his brother Chen Yongren was captured, and then he would have agreed to his conditions.
The one-million ransom in the conditions was just a cover; Han Bin’s real goal was to lure Ni Yongyao out of Tsim Sha Tsui so he could take revenge.
But the plan failed from the very beginning.
No matter what, Han Bin never expected that Ni Yongyao seemed not to care about Chen Yongren’s life or death at all, and even hung up the phone before he could finish speaking.
“Didn’t Mr. Jiang say the Ni family values family ties the most? How come it doesn’t work on Ni Yongyao?”
Han Bin was silent for a moment, then ordered his men, “Cut off his ears. I don’t believe Ni Yongyao can keep his cool this time.”
After thinking it over, Han Bin decided to escalate.
“Yes, Brother Bin.”
As a thug approached, Chen Yongren screamed again.
A few hours later.
Ni Yongyao received a new package.
Opening it, he found a bloody ear and a videotape inside.
Needless to say, the content of the tape was the scene of Chen Yongren being tortured.
“Beep, beep, beep!”
The phone rang again, and Ni Yongyao picked it up.
“Ni Yongyao, I’ll give you one more chance…”
Han Bin said.
Hearing Han Bin’s voice, Ni Yongyao hung up the phone after hearing only the beginning.
“Does this guy really think I’d fall for such a simple trap?”
Ni Yongyao shook his head.
But then he thought, if this trick were used against Ni Yongxiao, it would probably go very smoothly.
Given how much Ni Yongxiao valued his family, even if he knew Chen Yongren was an undercover agent and knew it was a trap, he would still rush to save him without hesitation.
But it wouldn’t work on Ni Yongyao.
Ni Yongyao was not a pedantic person; he possessed a very flexible moral bottom line.
Subsequently, Ni Yongyao dialed the number of Lu Qichang from the O-Unit.
Beep, beep, beep.
The call was connected quickly.
“Hello, who is this?”
Lu Qichang’s deep voice sounded.
“Lu Sir, it’s me, the concerned citizen Ni Yongyao.”
Ni Yongyao said, “I’m reporting a kidnapping case. The kidnappers are insane and have already started harming the hostage.”
“Ni Yongyao, I’m warning you, filing a false report is a crime.”
Lu Qichang clearly didn’t believe Ni Yongyao’s words.
“Of course I wouldn’t break the law. The one kidnapped is my brother, Chen Yongren, and the kidnappers have already sent the evidence to me. If you don’t believe me, Lu Sir, you can come find me.”
Ni Yongyao said calmly.
Ni Family Manor. Lu Qichang drove here, looked at the magnificent manor before him, and took a deep breath.
A long time ago, Lu Qichang and Huang Zhicheng were determined to take down the Ni family, but after so many years, not only had the Ni family not fallen, but they had become even more powerful. As for the two brothers, their situations were much worse than before; Huang Zhicheng first incited murder and later died under the gun of the fierce bandit Pu Guang. Lu Qichang himself also had to obtain evidence of the Ni family’s crimes within three months, or he would be transferred from his post.
“Officer Lu, Mr. Ni is waiting for you in the study.”
At this moment, Storm Shadow walked over and said.
Lu Qichang sized up Storm Shadow, nodded, and followed him into the manor. Originally, Lu Qichang didn’t intend to come; the last time he received a report from Ni Yongyao, it ended up in a fight with Pu Guang’s gang of fierce bandits.
Thinking back, Lu Qichang realized he had been used by Ni Yongyao to kill his enemies, but hearing that Chen Yongren had been kidnapped, Lu Qichang still had to rush over. On the way, Lu Qichang had called Chen Yongren several times, but none went through, which gave Lu Qichang a bad premonition.
Study.
Knock, knock, knock.
Storm Shadow knocked on the door.
“Come in.”
Storm Shadow received Ni Yongyao’s permission before pushing the door open and leading Lu Qichang inside. In the study, Ni Yongyao sat behind the desk, a cigar in his mouth, puffing away contentedly. Beside Ni Yongyao was Sophia, dressed in a pure black suit and a pencil skirt. Seeing Lu Qichang enter, her gaze immediately shifted over, remaining vigilant at all times.
Finally, there was Yazi, dressed as a maid, holding a teapot. Lu Qichang first looked at Ni Yongyao, then noticed Yazi, and was instantly stunned. Before this, Yazi hadn’t reported to him that she was staying by Ni Yongyao’s side as a maid.
“Ni Yongyao, where is the evidence that Chen Yongren was kidnapped? If you can’t produce it, I’m taking you back with me now.”
Lu Qichang quickly composed his expression and said to Ni Yongyao.
Yazi’s matter aside, the most important thing now was to figure out Chen Yongren’s situation.
“Lu Sir, see for yourself.”
A playful smile appeared on the corner of Ni Yongyao’s mouth, and he snapped his fingers.
Storm Shadow understood, brought a box to Lu Qichang, and then picked up the videotape and put it into the machine.
Lu Qichang opened the box and saw a jar of teeth and a bloody ear inside.
“This is…”
Lu Qichang frowned, and then he saw the scene of Chen Yongren being tortured on the TV screen.
Seeing this, Lu Qichang couldn’t sit still anymore and stood up directly.
“Ni Yongyao, what exactly is going on!”
Lu Qichang demanded.
“Lu Sir, I already told you, someone kidnapped my brother, and these things were sent by them.”
Ni Yongyao spread his hands and said.
“Chen Yongren is a Ni family member, no matter what; can you just watch him suffer torture?”
Lu Qichang said with an angry face.
“I’m a law-abiding citizen. What can I do about such vicious kidnappers? Of course, I’ll leave it to you to handle.”
Ni Yongyao took a puff of his cigar and said calmly.
Hearing this, Lu Qichang felt a surge of anger welling up in his heart, and it took a great deal of willpower to suppress it.
Lu Qichang knew very well that the reason Ni Yongyao called him over was definitely because he wanted to use him to kill his enemies again.
But concerning Chen Yongren’s safety, no matter how reluctant Lu Qichang was, he couldn’t stand by and watch.
