Chapter 369: This place is quite good
The next afternoon, after Chen Sir finished handling the case from start to finish, he thought to himself, since resistance is futile, might as well enjoy it!
He drove straight to the Far East Club in Jianshazui; as soon as his car stopped, club staff came out to greet him.
Xiao Liu opened the car door for Chen Sir, smiling and saying, "Welcome, Mr. Chen, to the Far East Club."
Chen Sir asked in surprise, "Do you know me?"
Xiao Liu explained, "Mr. Chen, you are a member of the Far East Club; our first lesson on the job is to know all member information thoroughly, otherwise we aren't qualified to work."
Chen Sir gave a thumbs up, said nothing more, and walked straight into the club.
Just as he reached the entrance, a row of cheongsam-clad beauties chorused, "Welcome, Mr. Chen, to the Far East Club."
No matter a man's identity, they all like the same thing: beautiful women, with individual exceptions.
After all, that's their freedom!
A Ye received the news that the Big Brother himself had sent out a member to come, and she hurried out to receive them.
A Ye reached out and shook Chen Sir's hand, smiling, "Mr. Chen, I am Manager A Ye."
Chen Sir let go of A Ye's hand and asked, "A Ye, although I'm from the serious crimes unit, I've long heard of your reputation—being able to straighten out a big man and make him call his parents, you, A Ye, are truly a woman who doesn't let men outshine her!"
A Ye waved her hand, saying with meaning, "Mr. Chen, that was just my youthful ignorance and reckless messing around."
"Since I started working for Mr. Li, I've been studying now and wouldn't brandish a knife to admire."
Chen Sir understood A Ye's meaning; this is about cutting ties with the past, but with Mr. Li as backup, those little things A Ye did before really aren't a problem.
Even Jiang Longtou can become Mr. Jiang, let alone A Ye, a big shot.
Chen Sir nodded and said, "A Ye, I won't stand on ceremony with you either; I came today just to get acquainted, and we'll have plenty of time to interact in the future—just give me a heads-up if anything comes up."
A Ye led Chen Sir to a private room, pointing at it and saying, "Mr. Chen, everything here is free for you—including food, clothing, lodging, and transport; just let me know what you need."
Looking at the luxurious décor in the room, he asked, "Can all members use these for free?"
A Ye shook her head. "Only members with a fixed salary get it for free; others have to pay a lot, and ordinary businesspeople can't come to the Far East Club more than a few times."
Chen Sir thought for a moment and then asked, "How many people can enjoy this privilege?"
Now that only the two of them were in the room, A Ye then smiled and said, "Chen Sir, the Big Brother had instructed that when you arrived, I should bring you to meet a few people—I'm sure you'll have plenty to talk about."
"It just so happens they're right here; please follow me."
A Ye brought Chen Sir to the outside of a private room and told the attendant, "Go tell Mr. Huang that Mr. Li wants to introduce him to a friend."
Not long after the attendant went in, he came out and said to the two of them, "Manager, Mr. Huang invites you in."
Just as Chen Sir stepped inside the doorway, he heard a familiar voice shouting loudly, "You three losers, are you teaming up to screw me over?"
"After three rounds, I somehow managed a tiny useless win—do you guys want to go guard a pond?"
"A Tou, you're just being a sore loser—laughing when you win, making excuses when you lose; it's embarrassing!"
The speaker was Senior Superintendent Cheng, who had once been threatened by Deng Fei.
The other two were Wan Chai O Department Chief Inspector Xiang Rong and Kowloon Total District O Department Deputy Head Zhang Tiezhu.
Well, Zhang Tiezhu is currently hanging out with Lao Huang; it's said that after a while they'll settle their grudges and could go further—heading to the O Department headquarters to become Lao Huang's assistant.
They say even a prime minister's gatekeeper is a seventh-rank official; although they all hold the rank of superintendent, as Lao Huang's assistant, promotion would be easy.
Chen Sir stood at attention, but before he could raise his hand halfway, Lao Huang interrupted him.
"Since A Xin had you come see me, you're not an outsider—he's my younger brother; you're friends with him, and whether you can become my friend depends on your performance."
After the mahjong game ended and everyone was full of food and drink, Chen Sir realized what that performance entailed—men love hearing about and doing that kind of thing!
Men have four bonds: having attended school together, having carried guns together, having visited prostitutes together, and having split loot together.
The first two relate to time and probability; as time passes and circumstances change, schoolmates can turn against each other, and comrades-in-arms can become enemies—not uncommon.
But the latter two are different, because showing at least similar conduct and demeanor, worldview, values, and outlook on life inevitably leads to mutual affection, meeting late but feeling like old friends, sharing the same foul smell, and being thick as thieves.
I misspoke—it should be like-minded good friends; if you haven't gone through these two, how could Senior Superintendent Huang have promoted you?
Senior Superintendent Huang, wearing a robe, sat on the sofa and instructed Son-in-law Bai: "Little Bai, the American dancer last time was nice, but I don't feel like moving today—what do you recommend?"
Son-in-law Bai might not be professional in other matters, but in this area he still has some expertise.
He smiled and replied, "Then I'll recommend the little-day girls; they're quite skilled at serving people."
"Coincidentally, a few top-notch ones have come; let Mr. Huang evaluate their service attitude—after all, you're an expert in this."
"You, you!"
Lao Huang's tone shifted: "Well, then I'll trouble myself a bit to evaluate for you—this is, after all, my younger brother's business; I'll put in some effort, so no evaluation fee needed."
Son-in-law Bai earnestly said, "Mr. Huang, that won't do—you put in the effort, so you deserve compensation."
"The boss has instructed on this matter; a small gift for your wife has already been prepared, personally selected by the boss from the little-day girls, and has been sent back."
"Once you're done with your effort, you must definitely take the gift with you; otherwise the boss will be displeased, and if the boss is displeased, I will surely be scolded."
"Seeing as I'm somewhat sensible, please help me out!"
Chen Sir, seeing this scene for the first time, was stunned straight away by their conversation!
Is this really that tough police officer, Senior Superintendent Huang?
Although I'd heard rumors about Senior Superintendent Huang before, experiencing it firsthand still shocked me greatly!
Lao Huang looked at Chen Sir, smiling and asking, "How come? I've charged ahead for the police force—can't I even enjoy myself a bit?"
Zhang Tiezhu interjected, "No problem at all—A Tou, you've poured your heart and blood into the Gangdao Police Force; what's wrong with enjoying yourself a bit?"
"Of course!"
Chen Sir felt he wasn't shameless enough and didn't fit in with these people.
Since he's already on board, he might as well try to adapt!
When Chen Sir left the Far East Club, he no longer felt reluctant, and even smacked his lips as if savoring something.
Thinking to himself, "Officer Zhang is right; after solving cases for half my life, what's wrong with enjoying myself a bit?"
