Chapter 10: Shattered by the Shock
"Hou Tujie, Zhu Song, they're bullying me again, come help me quickly." Shui Shen Yu Qiang rushed over in a hurry, but unfortunately he was still a step too late; he only saw Hou Tu already soaring into the air.
"Where is she going? No, I have to catch up." Yu Qiang gritted his teeth and chased after.
At dawn, Zhou Yi set up a fire pit early; the flames happily licked the roast meat, emitting an enticing sizzle, and the aroma spread.
In no time, the people in the camp were awakened by the scent.
"Get up, come eat." Zhou Yi called, and everyone gathered around, devouring the meat.
The roast he prepared last night was plentiful, enough for a hundred people with room to spare.
"Fellow tribesmen, today I, Zhou Yi, stand here not only to bring you hope, but also to open a brand‑new path for you." Zhou Yi said.
"We Human Race, since Nüwa created humanity, have lived under the shadow of Honghuang. The Demon Race runs rampant, the Wu Clan is overbearing, and we can only survive in the cracks."
"However, today I tell you, the Human Race is not destined to forever bow to others."
The atmosphere among the crowd grew heated, and Zhou Yi's words, like flames, ignited hope in their hearts.
"The ways of the hundred schools each have their merits. The Confucian School teaches benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, and trust, showing us how to cultivate oneself, regulate the family, govern the state, and bring peace to the world; the Daoist School reveres nature, practices non‑action governance, letting us understand how to follow the Heavenly Dao and overcome hardness with softness.
The Mohist School advocates universal love and non‑aggression, making us realize the importance of peaceful coexistence; the Legalist School stresses rule of law, using harsh punishments and strict statutes to maintain social order."
Zhou Yi recounted the essence of each of the hundred schools one by one.
The tribespeople began to awaken to the Dao one after another.
Zhou Yi's system chimed again: "Congratulations, host, for successfully spreading the ways of the hundred schools, receiving a fourth‑rank rating, reward 1000 points."
Yao Yan ate silently while vigilantly scanning the surroundings.
The scent of the roast was a huge lure for demon beasts; last night it attracted many wild creatures, but Zhou Yi dealt with them one by one, and they finally became the delicious food on the table.
Suddenly, a rumbling echoed from the sky as Hou Tu descended with a beautiful yet icy woman.
The woman's face was like frost, and she radiated an aura that made others hard to approach.
"Who is this?" Zhou Yi asked curiously.
Hou Tu frowned, whispering to Yu Qiang: "Follow my plan, don't reveal your identity."
Then turning to Zhou Yi, he introduced: "This is our Wu Clan's Shaman Wu Zhu Xuan; we heard there's good food here, so we came, hope you don't mind."
Yu Qiang, though reluctant, could only nod.
Hou Tu spoke up.
Yu Qiang snorted coldly, saying nothing.
Zhou Yi, however, was unfazed and invited the two to try the roast.
Yu Qiang couldn't help but sniff; the aroma was truly tempting.
Seeing her sister already eating with relish, she also couldn't help but gorge herself.
Hou Tu ate calmly, while Yu Qiang appeared cautious, constantly scanning the surroundings.
Nevertheless, when she saw these ordinary members of the Human Race, it didn't affect her appetite; she ate no less than Hou Tu.
Hou Tu, while eating, pulled a cultivation manual from her bosom and handed it to Zhou Yi: "I happened to find this in the clan; you can give it a try." She added, "But we agreed, if any problems arise during cultivation, don't blame me."
"No problem." Zhou Yi accepted it cheerfully, opened to the first page and studied it carefully.
The more he read, the more his heart stirred.
The introductory explanation of this manual is detailed, able to avoid many cultivation pitfalls.
"This manual can at most reach the Golden Immortal Realm, though it's not the topmost," Hou Tu added.
Yu Qiang gave Zhou Yi a sideways glance, a cold smile curling his mouth: "Human Race, that's all they are."
Yao Yan heard those words clearly; his gaze instantly turned so cold it could freeze a person, staring straight at Yu Qiang.
Yu Qiang immediately felt that knife‑sharp gaze; their eyes met.
"Oh dear, this is bad," Hou Tu muttered inwardly.
Sure enough, Yu Qiang sprang to his feet with a "swoosh", a mocking grin on his face: "Human boy, you're not convinced? Look at you, you don't even have your own cultivation method, what greatness can you achieve?"
"Yu Qiang, don't act rashly," Hou Tu hurriedly called out to stop him.
"Sister, don't worry, I'll just use a bit of Great Luo Golden Immortal's power to toy with him." Yu Qiang replied, his figure flashing, and in the blink of an eye rushed toward Yao Yan.
The scene showed her aura raging, like a volcano erupting; a deafening boom, shockwaves surging like a tsunami, dust flying everywhere, total chaos.
Zhou Yi reacted quickly, using spiritual energy to shield the Human Race behind him still gnawing the roast. Hou Tu also acted swiftly, adding a protective barrier around Yao Yan.
However, that terrifying shockwave was too fierce; the surrounding trees were uprooted, like grass in a gale, utterly unable to block it.
In the blink of an eye, the once verdant area turned into a barren plain, littered with wreckage, as if a massive tractor had plowed through.
Yao Yan wore a calm expression, unafraid, and abruptly drew the Mystic Heavy Ruler; white fire instantly ignited on it.
He swung the ruler to strike; the force was terrifying, bearing destructive power, roaring outward.
Yu Qiang, upon seeing it, smirked, eyes full of contempt. She extended a small hand and effortlessly crushed that formidable attack, like squeezing a paper ball.
Unexpectedly, the white fire on the Mystic Heavy Ruler silently crawled onto her body, burning ever more fiercely.
"Your fire is rather special, it can even burn a soul," Yu Qiang sneered, "but it's useless against me."
The moment the words left her mouth, her entire body surged with magical power, and the white fire was instantly suppressed out of sight.
Then, her gaze turned ice‑cold, and the surrounding ice laws spun wildly.
In a blink, the earth seemed encircled by winter; ice and snow surged, covering everything.
Even the Mystic Heavy Ruler in Yao Yan's hand began to be eroded bit by bit by the cold.
Yao Yan's heart gave a sudden thump: this guy is truly hard to deal with.
But he didn't retreat; instead, he grew bolder.
The fire inside him roared outward like a great sun, melting the oncoming frost.
He forced a path through the icy world, charging toward Yu Qiang.
"Hey, you've got some guts," Yu Qiang said, watching Yao Yan rush forward, a scornful smile curling at the corner of her mouth.
She conjured a beautiful long whip out of thin air, gave it a light flick, and a huge pile of massive ice blocks condensed in the air.
These ice blocks, like meteors, fell densely upon Yao Yan, each as hard as stone, and when they struck the ground they could carve out pits.
Yao Yan showed no fear; he activated the combat skill "Three Thousand Thunder Moves," arcs of electricity flashing around his body like living serpents slithering.
In the blink of an eye, he transformed into a bolt of lightning; the approaching mystic ice hadn't reached him before it was shattered by the shock.
"Flame Devouring Wave Ruler." Yao Yan growled low, his voice deafening, echoing in Yu Qiang's ears.
In an instant, scorching flames surged forth, fiercely clashing with Yu Qiang's ice power.
Immediately after, a fierce slash ripped across the sky, like dazzling sunlight striking Yu Qiang's left side; wherever it passed, space ruptured, Chaos energy leaked out, and even ordinary people could hear the sound of space shattering.
