Chapter 24: Great Changes
Zhou Yi only has one chance to turn the disc. He takes a deep breath, places his hand on the disc, and twists forcefully. The disc instantly spins at high speed.
The pointer whizzes over each sector; Zhou Yi silently makes a wish in his heart—what he most wants is the Hand of Heaven. Once grasped, his combat power would surely surge.
The disc's speed gradually slows, each sector passes slowly under the pointer. Finally the disc comes to a halt, pointing to Thunder Path Four Absolute Heavens. Though this is also Shi Hao's ultimate technique, its power is astounding, it is not what Zhou Yi desired.
As soon as the disc stops, a sphere of light wrapped in thunder bursts out from that sector, shooting straight into Zhou Yi's forehead.
In an instant, Zhou Yi feels as if he fell into the Thunder Sea; endless lightning rages within his body, crackling, as if it will tear him to pieces.
At the same time, gold, fire, and earth energies continuously surge into his body. These four forces collide and blend fiercely inside him, seeking a perfect balance point.
Zhou Yi feels his meridians burn with pain, but he grits his teeth and endures.
Eventually, the four forces slowly settle at the dantian in his lower abdomen.
He slowly opens his eyes; lightning flashes in his pupils, and he seems reborn, his aura radiant like a rainbow.
Even more to his delight, he discovers he now possesses a full one hundred thousand Destiny Points.
This leap in destiny not only grants him new formidable power, but also brings generous rewards.
After weighing it carefully, Zhou Yi decides to keep these Destiny Points for now, planning to summon more strong allies in the future.
Looking up, the scene before him is unbelievable: Shi Hao and Zhu Song are inseparably close, wolfing down roasted meat while singing loudly.
The surrounding Human Race are also infected by their merriment, joining the chorus one after another.
Even the three Sui Huang are entranced. In contrast, Zhou Yi's side has only Yao Yan silently turning the roasted meat on the fire.
Seeing Zhou Yi awaken, Yao Yan immediately hands him a golden‑crisp piece of roast, smiling, "Taste it, eat while it's hot. You seemed to enter the Enlightenment State just now, truly strong."
It turns out, while Zhou Yi was deep in thought, the atmosphere around grew unusually solemn; Shi Hao mistakenly thought he was in Enlightenment, and deliberately cleared space for him to cultivate alone.
At the same time, he gathered the others together.
"Zhu Song, what's happening to them?" Zhou Yi asks, his face full of doubt, turning to Yao Yan.
"What else can you do? They're just happy eating." Yao Yan shrugs helplessly, "I just brought some wild‑fruit wine I'd made earlier; after a sip and a bite, that's what happened."
"Shi Hao happened to be there, so they started chatting."
Watching the joyous scene, Zhou Yi silently thinks that such an atmosphere isn't bad at all.
After Taiyi Shen departs, two demon soldiers remain to continue monitoring the Human Race.
These two demon soldiers have extremely strong concealment, hiding within the clouds and merging with the mist, making them hard to detect even with divine perception.
"Brother, I must warn you, lately the Human Race has been acting oddly; even the Fire Crow Demon Commander fell into their hands." one demon soldier whispers.
"Don't worry, once we spot any anomaly we'll retreat immediately, no hesitation." The other demon soldier, though tough‑mouthed, shows a hint of insecurity in his tone.
While they are talking, an enticing aroma of roasted meat drifts over. The two demon soldiers can't help but sniff; the scent seems magical, tickling their hearts.
"Wow, what's that smell?" At first they try to stay composed, but as the fragrance grows stronger they finally can't help it, cautiously peeking down.
Upon looking, they are stunned. Below, the Human Race are laughing and singing around the roast, dancing, while piles of fiery red feathers form mountains, and the massive head of a fire crow is casually discarded nearby.
The two demon soldiers, seeing the Human Race feasting on the Fire Crow Demon Commander's flesh, turn as pale as paper.
"Heaven's heavens, how dare they eat the Fire Crow Demon Commander?" After a while, one demon soldier regains his voice, trembling, "I must rush back to the Demon Court to report; you stay here."
Before he finishes speaking, he transforms into a flash of swift light and darts away.
For the Heavenly Court, this is not only a humiliating disgrace but also an unprecedented severe blow.
Once the news leaks, how can the Heavenly Court's face remain?
Taishang Laojun had just soothed the agitated Nüwa, sending her back to Honghuang. He inadvertently glanced toward the Human Tribe's direction, froze in astonishment, his face full of disbelief.
Nüwa, seeing this, also curiously followed his gaze and was instantly shocked.
After a long while, Taishang Laojun finally laughed, "These Human Tribe, they've healed their wounds and forgotten the pain, daring to treat the Demon Race's great commander's remains like this."
He turns to Nüwa and says, "Junior sister, don't worry. They do this, how could Taiyi Shen let them off easily?"
Earlier, Taishang Laojun was still fretting over the affairs of the Human and Demon Races. He didn't expect the Human Race to cause themselves such big trouble. Perhaps a slight push would make those two of the Heavenly Court act against the Human Race first, rather than the Wu Clan.
Nüwa's expression changes slightly, then returns to calm.
"Is this the Human Race I created? How has it changed so greatly?" she thinks to herself.
In her memory, the Human Race always dwelled at the bottom of Honghuang, unreachable to any strong clan. Yet now they dare eat fire crow meat, showing the Human Race has quietly metamorphosed.
At this moment, below, Zhou Yi awakens and joins Yao Yan in the lively roast feast.
Even Zhu Song puts down his airs. Though he once despised the Human Race, in front of the delicious food his view subtly shifts.
"You youngsters are fine; with another Quasi Saint you'll have the Human Race standing firm." Zhu Song devours the roast, praising Zhou Yi and the others endlessly.
"Zhu Song, why are you here?" Zhou Yi wonders. If the Thick Earth Demon God appeared, he might understand it as sensing the after‑effects of battle.
But Zhu Song is far beyond Mount Buzhou; how could he suddenly arrive?
"It's because of my sister…" Zhu Song, excited, almost blurted out, then stopped.
"My sister's tribe discovered this commotion, she isn't here, yet somehow contacted me, so I came to see."
Zhou Yi nods internally; the explanation seems reasonable. Though doubts remain, he knows Zhu Song helped, and he's a foodie. In his view, a foodie has little ill intent; good food can win hearts, which is only beneficial for the Human Race.
"You kid don't try to rope me in with questions." Zhu Song looks at Zhou Yi's rotating eyes, immediately cuts off.
His sister had repeatedly warned him, especially about Zhou Yi, telling him not to trust easily and to return soon.
If not for the roast's scent, he might have left already.
"What do you mean?" Zhou Yi gives Shi Hao a look. He knows he can get nothing from Zhu Song, but Shi Hao might have a different outcome.
