Chapter 7: The Great Tiger Demon and the Great Boar Demon

~7 min read 1,256 words

"Junior sister, you bear the hope of the Human Race; now only you can check him." Nüwa looked at Taishang's bloodless face, steeled herself, and nodded. Today, Zhou Yi must act, or endless trouble will follow.

"Zhou Yi, bring your life!" Nüwa shouted angrily, and the great battle was about to erupt.

A fireball fell at meteoric speed, as if it would tear heaven and earth.

The area it passed over was instantly stained blood‑red, half the sky, like surging waves of blood.

Zhou Yi's expression remained calm as he suddenly swung a fist in retaliation.

"Boom—" A earth‑shaking roar reverberated, shaking the entire Vast Wilderness World.

Zhou Yi crashed heavily into the blood, and the surrounding soil was dyed blazingly bright.

He mustered all his strength to wrench himself up; his body shivered from excruciating pain, yet he clenched his teeth and forced his spine straight. He muttered, "Just a little more—if I cut Nüwa's fate‑binding thread and restore the Human Race's destiny, I can gather the Human Race from all realms, and the Demon Race will retreat out of fear."

Before his words finished, the massive figure behind him shifted, its gaze fixed on the sky.

Zhou Yi shouted loudly, "Nüwa, the people can crown you king, and can also see you fall from the divine throne. You attained sainthood through the Human Race, yet you turned and betrayed us for the Demon Race. From now on, you can no longer claim to be the Human Race's holy mother and usurp our place."

His voice was hoarse, yet full of power.

Immediately, the massive figure lunged, grabbing a fate‑line several times thicker than the cord that links Taishang Laojun.

Nüwa was stunned by the words "the people can crown you king, and can also see you fall from the divine throne," and only when she felt the fate‑line seized did she gasp.

Zhou Yi, his face smeared with blood, flashed a brilliant smile, "Nüwa, you didn't see that coming, did you?"

Nüwa fully understood the consequences of the fate‑line being severed. Her status, second only to Hongjun, depended entirely on the Human Race's destiny.

If she lost that destiny, her power would plummet dramatically, even surpassing the injuries suffered by Taishang Laojun.

At that moment, Nüwa's thunder and crimson embroidered orbs rained down like the apocalypse, shaking the earth.

The massive figure behind Zhou Yi vanished instantly, turning into scattered specks of light.

However, his goal was achieved; the thick fate‑line had been reduced by more than half, leaving only the portion that creates humans.

Nüwa's momentum collapsed abruptly, like a mountain toppling. She once controlled five‑tenths of the Human Race's destiny; now only one‑fifth remains.

Her cultivation plunged from late Saint level to early Saint level, weaker than the injured Taishang Laojun, barely able to stand.

"One person's strength injured two Saints," the onlookers exclaimed, their chatter rising.

The clouds dispersed, no longer shielding the Saints. Everything on the battlefield lay bare. The Saints' majesty was trampled by an ordinary Human. Zhou Yi's name will be etched into the annals of the Vast Wilderness World.

Yuanshi Tianzun burned with anger, gripping the Pangu banner, glaring at Zhou Yi.

"Kid, senior brother and Nüwa are being held back by you; I will show no mercy—today is your doom," he roared, his voice echoing through the clouds.

Before his words ended, everyone suddenly felt uneasy, as if heaven and earth were trembling. The Heavenly Dao quivered, and Hongjun's voice rang from the void: "Everyone, hurry to the the Zixiao Palace; no mistakes."

The tense atmosphere froze instantly. Yuanshi Tianzun wore a stunned expression, not expecting to be summoned by his master at the crucial moment. "Teacher summons, Zhou Yi, consider yourself lucky." Taishang Laojun and Nüwa tossed out those words, hurried away in a hasty, disheveled manner, starkly different from their usual lofty demeanor.

Zhou Yi sat on the ground, blood trickling from his mouth, yet he couldn't help bursting into laughter. His laughter echoed across the battlefield, proclaiming his victory—Human Race finally had hope.

Inside the the Zixiao Palace, Hongjun furrowed his brows, his hands gesturing as he probed. His gaze pierced the stars, looking toward a mysterious world.

It was a sea of fire, surging and roaring like a blazing sun, a spectacle where flame laws intertwined, quietly encroaching on the Vast Wilderness.

The Saints departed, and the breathtaking battle ended. People stared in disbelief at the mortal, who had repelled two Saints single‑handedly and severed the Ren Sect's destiny. Such a feat was unprecedented!

The sky cleared, bright and calm, everything returning to peace as if nothing had happened.

Elsewhere, Gui Che led the Demon Race's massive army. "We've spotted another group of humans up north; should we go eliminate them?" a commander asked.

"Eliminate what… the Witch-slaying Sword is already forged; we have no need to tangle here," Gui Che said coldly. "Can't you see that fierce one is still nearby? Do you want him to beat you to nothing?"

The commander shivered, his mind flashing the image of that powerhouse sweeping everything, even Saints unable to block.

If such power fell upon him, he feared not even a shadow would remain.

"Retreat." At Gui Che's command, the Demon Race's army withdrew like a tide, vanishing without a trace.

Zhou Yi lifted his head, inhaled deeply several times, striving to steady his heartbeat.

This ordeal was truly perilous; had he not been lucky, he would have perished long ago.

"Great risk, great reward," Zhou Yi muttered, a faint smile curling his lips.

Then he painstakingly crawled out of a huge pit, gazing at the scarred Mount Buzhou before him.

The ground was littered with Demon Race soldiers' corpses; no matter how fast they fled, they couldn't escape the terrifying force, and many demonic beasts reverted to their true forms.

Zhou Yi sifted through the corpses and finally selected a Great Tiger Demon and a Great Boar Demon. He strained to haul the two heavy bodies toward the Human Race's cave.

"Anyone there?" Zhou Yi called in front of the cave, "I am the Human Ancestor."

The women and children inside the cave rushed out, their eyes full of worry.

They heard Zhou Yi's voice, but lacking cultivation, they couldn't grasp what had transpired.

Only when they saw the massive demonic beast corpses Zhou Yi dragged behind him did they freeze, faces astonished.

"Stop staring, quickly deal with these creatures and you'll have a good meal," Zhou Yi said, pulling several weapons from his chest, introducing himself to everyone, and joining the Human Race.

The weapons were scavenged from the battlefield; though they were ordinary Demon Race soldiers' arms, to the Human Race they were prized treasures.

"Human Ancestor, you're awesome," Yao Yan, the Human Race's leader, said, giving a thumbs‑up.

Zhou Yi laughed heartily, saying, "My Endless Fire Realm is drawing nearer; next I'll find a way to carve out a safe haven and lead part of the Human Race there."

"Great, I've already located a group of humans; we can first bring them into the Endless Fire Realm for protection." Yao Yan nodded in agreement.

Half a day later, the two demonic beasts were fully disassembled, and dozens of bonfires rose in the valley, their flames shooting skyward.

When Zhou Yi returned, he made no secret of it; scattered members of the Human Race who sensed the commotion came running.

The group of women and children, originally only a few dozen, swelled to over a hundred within a short half‑day.
