Chapter 21: Driver Fengxi, the Primordial Aspect
Dayi's Eight Trigrams—Fengxi did not investigate them too deeply.
His strength did not allow it, and there were more important things to do.
The Wu Clan's diplomatic visit would let him see the vast world outside, and perhaps even have a chance to closely encounter other great divine beings and behold some mighty existences!
Despite his strength, he could only be a bit player in that setting.
But this was also a rare opportunity.
Fengxi exerted a hundred-thousandfold effort in preparation.
……
「Dong! 」
The heavy, solemn bell rang, reverberating throughout Mount Buzhou.
Gorgeous light poured down, making this place holy and transcendent.
A colossal honor guard had already been fully prepared.
When the bell's sound echoed through heaven and earth, it was like a signal: divine dragons roared, pulling the carriage frame, and under the array of tens of thousands of mighty warriors and fierce gods, it shot straight into the firmament, driving wind and commanding thunder!
This was the Wu Clan's expeditionary force.
The two ancestral witches—Di Jiang and Houtu—manifested their true forms and traveled across Honghuang, seeking to meet one great divine being after another and forge cooperative relations.
Since they represented the entire Wu Clan, the spectacle naturally could not be small… it was both the exalted status of the ancestral witches and a sign of respect for the visited great divine beings, demonstrating the formality of this journey.
The tens of thousands of Wu Clan warriors brought to make up the numbers were all no lower than Golden Immortal rank.
Above them were the commanders of the Wu army.
They bore another title—Great Wu, beings whose status in the Wu Clan is second only to the ancestral witches.
One Great Wu commands a hundred thousand Wu troops.
Here there were several Great Wu, their qi resonating back and forth… light burst from within and without on them, an eternal, immortal light!
That light springs from the mind and from the Great Dao, illuminating endless time and space, everlasting.
Great Luo!
Golden Immortals as soldiers, Great Luo as generals… what a mighty display!
Only an existence as supremely domineering as an ancestral witch could easily command it and display its dignity.
'A true man ought to be thus.'
Fengxi, while yearning with envy and longing, cautiously held the reins… feeling the boundless power at the other end, as if pulling at vast cosmic expanses, making his heart tremble.
Even though he knew the dragons pulling the carriage were each gentle, the direct comparison of power still left him, the driver, unable to stay calm.
"The dragons pulling the carriage are stronger than me—utterly unfair!" Fengxi's eyes twitched incessantly, "Nine dragons, nine Supreme Ultimates!"
"Placed in Honghuang, each would be a regional overlord…"
Supreme Ultimate, within them evolves a nascent form of primordial ancestral qi, capable of transforming material vital energy, arranging the laws of the Great Dao, and constructing all phenomena.
An ordinary one can create a world of its own; the outstanding among them can even construct a multiverse, fully displaying the divine power of creation!
Even in the meticulously ordered world of Honghuang, they possess supreme power, being the strongest just below the Grand Luo Supreme who holds sway over time and space and can reverse past and future.
But now, such powerhouses are pulling the carriage.
"Heavens, I'm only a Golden Immortal." Fengxi muttered inwardly, "Although the carriage is worth more than the driver, that's normal… but why do I feel so sad?"
Being able to serve as driver for Thus line: "Di Jiang Zu Wu, without being just another foot soldier, would originally have been a joyful thing.
But truly feeling the disparity in strength made it impossible to be happy.
Fortunately, after not too long, Fengxi steadied his spirit, adjusted his mindset, and a thread of his will extended along the reins to one of the Supreme Ultimate–level true dragons, thereby gauging the workings of its mana and glimpsing the mysteries of the Supreme Ultimate.
Serving as driver for the big shots, merely seeing or learning a few things would already benefit him greatly.
On one hand, sensing the increase in knowledge and broadening of horizons, his cultivation slowly but clearly advanced; on the other, gazing upon the vast Honghuang, he truly saw the outside world over hundreds of years, and Fengxi felt a shock from the depths of his soul—
Honghuang—what a vast and magnificent cosmos!
It seems like a single realm, but it is not.
Just the Honghuang Continent alone equals countless universes fused together!
On that boundless land, one can at times see colossal mountain ranges undulating like dragons, stretching for hundreds of millions of miles… yet compared to the world's true magnitude, not even a small hill qualifies.
Yet even in such remote corners dwell countless races and endless living beings.
Too many divine dynasties stand here, founded by cultivators carving out their own territories; every state hosts clouds of powerful beings, occupying one blessed land after another.
Fengxi could see those divine dynasties warring against each other, armies of hundreds of millions of cultivators facing off and charging, to seize better ground and loot more resources.
In the midst of battle and conquest, some fall while others rise… joys, angers, sorrows, and pleasures are woven therein, playing a mundane melody.
However, compared to this world's endless expanse and the flowing ages of countless epochs, what does it amount to?
A speck of dust… perhaps not even that.
This is what Honghuang looks like to a Golden Immortal's cultivation—already so vast and tumultuous.
And can a Golden Immortal perceive the entirety of the world?
Of course that's impossible.
By virtue of his role as driver, borrowing the power of the carriage-pulling dragons, Fengxi briefly gained a Supreme Ultimate's perspective… thereby he comprehended the rules of space, clarified the mysteries of cosmic law and dimensional arrangement, and beheld an even vaster expanse of heaven and earth.
Myriad Heavens, Myriad Elements!
Every speck of dust and gravel, every blade of grass and tree… in their essence they contain a transcendent Dao rhythm and Dao light.
That is the manifestation of the Honghuang Great Dao.
And the Dao can give birth to all things, with boundless creation.
Fengxi focused his gaze and saw a flower.
This is a flower, yet also a true, substantive world.
One essence, two aspects, proceeding without conflict.
In this flower-filled world, it likewise possesses material qi, myriad races and spirits; it likewise has cultivators existing, pursuing the truth of the Great Dao, treading the path of cultivation…… Although this world's Great Dao is only a part of the complete true Honghuang law, it has its own limits.
But the beings therein are not without hope of continual eternal ascent——as long as they reach the pinnacle of their world, then make a final leap, charging through the tumultuous sea of space, they will 'ascend' to the Honghuang world, the source of all things, and begin a new life!
And just how many such worlds are there?
They are boundless, endless, so many that even exhausting Fengxi's lifetime would not be enough to count them.
They, too, are part of this vast heaven and earth.
Such heaven and earth are called——Honghuang!
The vastness of the universe, the breadth of the world—for the first time, Fengxi gained the most vivid impression in his mind.
It proclaimed its existence in a way that sweeps away the withered and breaks the rotten, so vast, so colorful and varied!
"Are you surprised? Do you think this is all of Honghuang?" Thus line: "Di Jiang Zu Wu sensed Fengxi's intense mental shift, and smiled faintly, saying, "No, this is actually not even close."
