Chapter 1006: Weng Falos 3.0 (52)
"It's like the leaders in the Interstellar Peace Company." Senxi switched to a metaphor everyone could grasp, "Because these human 'subordinates' love to stir up trouble all over the Weng Falos 'company', provoking leaders of other departments. Every time they use a prayer it's like making Olorinis work an unpaid 'overtime'; anyone would be angry, right?"
"Eh?" Maruxier subconsciously furrowed her brows, suddenly feeling a pang of sympathy for Olorinis, "Hearing you say that, it sounds so pitiful…"
As the few pressed forward, Olorinis's voice sounded again.
Only this time perhaps its wording was too "elegant", making Xadie's small face turn pale: "…Sorry, I don't wish to translate those words."
Bai'e let out a deep sigh: "It seems obtaining Olorinis's help is far from easy."
Xadie continued translating: "Do not approach… do not enter. There is nothing here that you seek… only sorrow and oblivion."
Bai'e looked up and shouted at the tightly sealed temple before them: "Are you the one speaking? Lady Olorinis? Sorry—if you refuse to help us—then sorrow and oblivion will become the only things left in the world!"
Having said that, Bai'e raised Janos's stone talisman.
A heavy mechanism clanged within the Triad Hall of Destiny, and the great doors opened. Yet the Titan's voice still conveyed hostility.
Xadie: "You are unwelcome… you have no right. You cannot pass the challenge."
Bai'e's eyes lit up as if seeing a sliver of opportunity: "Challenge? Good, at least it is willing to communicate, even if it means to vex us. Forward, and remember to watch your footing."
The four entered the Triad Hall, and saw a massive scale standing in the great hall's center.
So huge…
This is Star's first reaction; the scale rod rose from the ground, extending up into the darkness of the dome, its top almost invisible. The beam was as thick as an ancient tree trunk, covered in dark‑red rust, as if eroded layer by layer by time.
Bai'e couldn't help but exclaim: "The fair scale—this is my first time seeing its full form."
"Is this also that Titan's emblem?"
Xadie explained: "Talandon, the second of the Destiny Triad Titans. Legend says it forged the laws governing the world's motion. Its flame has returned to its place, but the Golden Descendant who succeeded its divine office… has vanished without a trace."
Bai'e: "At least the principles that keep the world turning remain stable. Wherever that Demigod may be, it has fulfilled its mission."
Genshin Impact.
In the afternoon of Fangdan Court, gentle sunlight spilled onto the café terrace; beneath a white parasol, Lai Ousili looked meaningfully at the Fangdan Supreme Judge seated across the round table.
"The Golden Descendant who oversees the law—" he elongated his tone, a sly glint in his eye, "Naweileite, could it be you?"
Cloeline's hand holding the teacup paused slightly. She silently lifted her gaze to look at Lai Ousili, then at Naweileite, a faint curve forming at the corner of her mouth.
Naweileite lifted his cup, sipped water from Snezhnaya, and said lightly, "Never mind how I should leave Teyvat, my vacation doesn't seem to allow me to do such a thing."
"Is that so? Then I think you could refer to the advice the Traveler and Paimon gave you last time, and issue yourself a leave note."
Naweileite replied earnestly, "It sounds like it would easily spiral into self‑indulgence and doesn't fit Mo Mang Palace's approval process, so I won't consider it for now."
Lai Ousili waved his hand: "Alright, alright, I was just joking. The law flame of Weng Falos has returned, and the event likely predates the Abyssal disaster of five hundred years ago. The Golden Descendant who took up this flame is probably, like you, someone with a certain obsession with 'justice' and 'judgment'."
"Obsession…" Naweileite lowered his head pensively, "The Law Titan's decree is not a law for humans to obey, but a principle the whole Weng Falos must follow. Since, as Bai'e said, the world runs stably, that Demigod must still be alive and untouched by Heichi's corruption."
Lai Ousili raised an eyebrow: "Seems the Demigod's work is going well, huh… maybe he's a workaholic too?"
Cloeline gently set down her teacup: "What do you mean by that 'also'?"
"Ahem… I'm not implying anyone. I just think someone needn't keep themselves so busy; with so much time, they could go out more, make more friends."
"That's true," Cloeline agreed, "Last time Navia and I traveled to Liyue, we met a guest minister named Zhongli. He's young yet erudite, learned in five carloads of books; if you're interested I can introduce you to him."
"Leave… leave. Don't touch… sister's things. Leave…" Xadie heard Olorinis whisper again.
Dan Heng asked puzzled, "Sister…?"
"Someone likened the relationship of the Destiny Triad Titans to sisters; she might be referring to Talandon's scale."
Unable to proceed, Star again invoked a prayer to recreate the temple's former appearance. This time Olorinis felt intense pain, and its intent to block the group grew stronger.
Fortunately, after the miracle, the broken scale became whole again, though its left side sagged and right side rose, still unbalanced.
Xadie: "The scale is the entrance… the scale is the test."
"Is the scale… trying to make us achieve balance?"
"It should be."
Dan Heng, looking from afar at the scale, keenly sensed a problem: "That Titan, does it truly intend to vex us with this test?"
"Lord Dan Heng, what do you mean?"
Dan Heng shook his head: "I don't get it. If it possesses divine power, shouldn't it block intruders more violently?"
"Olorinis… from what I know, it's not a brutish deity."
Star used the contrivance left by the Titan to successfully balance the scale. Seeing both ends even again, Bai'e finally exhaled: "So that counts as completing the test, right?"
"Lady Olorinis! We've completed your challenge; may we now pass?"
Before the words finished, the scale's ends shifted again, accompanied by the Titan's indistinct murmurs, and the left pillar sank once more.
"Not permitted… not acknowledged… you may not continue forward."
Dan Heng looked at the restored scale and sighed helplessly: "Seems like an untrustworthy Titan."
"The weight now on the left pan represents Weng Falos's fate," Xadie translated word for word, "Find… something heavier than it… place it on the scale's right pan…"
"Find something heavier than the world's fate…"
