Chapter 84: The Simp Knight
"Clack-clack-clack!"
Chester opened its mouth excitedly and stuck out its tongue, wanting to lick Yun Mu's shoes, but she reacted in time, subconsciously dodging and then kicking it hard, knocking it over to the ground.
It wasn't angry, though, and flipped itself back up from the ground in one motion.
It had learned its lesson this time; it didn't stick out its tongue, but instead just gently rubbed its wooden lid against Yun Mu's calf twice, then backed away to stop bothering her.
Lucy, standing to the side, couldn't help but laugh at this scene, and she looked at Yun Mu and said, "This Treasure Chest seems to really like you."
"I don't know how to evaluate that."
Yun Mu recalled that abstract Charm option and couldn't figure out why a Treasure Chest would have such a strange hobby.
"Anyway, let's keep moving." She covered her face and changed the subject.
Overall, her gains in this area were quite abundant, even though no combat summary prompt had popped up because the Treasure Chest had surrendered halfway through.
She hadn't gained any experience, nor had she received the plus-three maximum health from the Scarlet.
But she had obtained a green-quality antique pistol, as well as over two thousand Gold Coins.
And, the fourth Partner of the team!
Tears of joy; she finally had a full team!
Opening the Game Panel, Yun Mu adjusted the character positions for combat in her mind as she moved forward.
First, Lucy had to be placed in the very back; she was the squishiest in the entire team, and any monster with decent damage could hack her to zero health in a few hits.
Then there was herself; although she was indeed much tougher than Lucy, that was only in comparison to Lucy.
She was a noble mage now, so how could she be standing in the front taking damage every day!?
Hmm, so she would be in the third position.
Then the second position, for Dabai.
Dabai's job was simple: take damage and mindlessly use Counterattack Guard; depending on the situation, it could use the Pounce skill to move to the first position and replace Xiaoqie.
As for why she put Chester in the first position—
First, of course, because Xiaoqie had the highest defense, making it hard to be killed instantly even if focused by enemies.
Second, its skill attack range was a bit short; its reach wasn't long enough, and if it were in the second position, there were some enemies it probably wouldn't be able to hit.
Putting it in the first position was the best choice.
"Invincible."
After confirming the lineup order, they had just about arrived at the next area.
The mist permeating before them gradually dissipated, and a tall figure appeared directly in front of the two people and two monsters.
【Shouling Quyu lv22 (Elite)】
【The Scarlet Mist has dissipated!】
"Finally reached the Leader."
Yun Mu looked at the figure blocking the center of the road and said.
She saw a tall Knight standing there, covered from head to toe in blood-red plate armor, with only a T-shaped slit in the faceplate to see through, a long cross-sword flickering with cold light hanging at his waist, and a massive silver-white Mount lance in his hand.
"Could he be that Knight?"
Looking at the figure, Yun Mu couldn't help but think of the Knight who loved the nun, as described in the Immoral Notebook that dropped from the Bishop.
Many games liked to do this; even for monsters that couldn't communicate and only had a few lines of dialogue, there would be a relatively complete backstory.
Most of these backstories could be learned before or after defeating the boss.
And more clever games usually combined these backgrounds with gameplay, which lowered the game's difficulty while giving players a strong sense of achievement after defeating the boss.
There would be a feeling of, "I'm so smart, I discovered this."
But in reality, nearly half of the players would discover this kind of gameplay; it was just guidance carefully crafted by the game company.
Having said all that, Yun Mu just hoped that her Game System wasn't some trash game.
Otherwise—
Damn it, a level 22 Leader boss, how is this supposed to be fought?
That suit of plate armor looked intimidating; she knew her Rift Crocodile Coat had 9 points of defense, so armor that thick must have at least three or four times that much defense, right?
Besides, a Knight is a Knight; how could he be called a Knight without a horse?
Just by looking at the massive lance the opponent held, Yun Mu could guess that he likely had skills like summoning a Mount.
Various attribute buffs would be fine, but if she had to knock him off his horse before she could deal damage to his main body, that would be too difficult.
Don't ask why she could think of so much; the answer is experience.
"Hoo."
"Lucy, lend me that notebook for a second."
She took a deep breath and, instead of rushing to cross into the area, spoke to Lucy.
"Oh, okay."
Lucy didn't ask why; she just quietly took the notebook from her waist and handed it to her.
"Thanks."
Yun Mu thanked her, sat straight down on the ground, opened the notebook, and began to read it seriously.
The Knight standing at the other end of the area had no reaction to this, standing there like a sculpture, completely Immovable.
"Clack-clack-clack."
Chester seemed very interested in the armor on that Knight, constantly flicking its pink tongue, with drool flying all over the ground.
Yun Mu ignored it and just looked at the contents of the Immoral Notebook, finding it more and more bizarre the more she read.
This book was indeed written from the first-person perspective of the nun, but she hadn't read it that carefully the last time.
Now, savoring it in detail, she felt something was wrong.
Setting aside the embellishments, descriptions, and other literary devices within the notebook, let's just talk about the events that occurred.
Why does it feel like the nun seduced the Knight first, and then the Knight acted like a total simp, constantly helping the nun solve all sorts of troubles, even doing many things that went against his own principles as a Knight?
Yet, the nun repeatedly rejected the Knight on the grounds that, as a member of the clergy, she could not engage in intimacy, but some details in the story seem to prove that the nun was often messing around with the Church's Bishop?
In the end, the nun and the Knight successfully engaged in intimacy only because she violated some Taboo and was sent into Exile by the Bishop.
Here, Yun Mu speculates that perhaps the nun had a falling out with the Bishop, and having no other choice, she could only go to the Knight.
As it turns out, the nun didn't even mention the Exile; she just put on a show of being in a state of Collapse, leaning directly against the Knight, which stirred up a fire in him, and without a second word, they got together.
Once it was over, she started talking about breaking vows, tasting the forbidden fruit, and the like, and led the Knight, that simp, to fight against the Bishop.
Why does a notebook written from the first-person perspective of the nun have so many missing details?
As she read on, Yun Mu had a realization.
No wonder it's called the Immoral Notebook and not an immoral diary; damn it, this book wasn't written by the nun at all!
The more she thought about it, the more it made sense, and she kept flipping back and forth through the various details in the notebook.
If it wasn't written by the nun herself, then who wrote this notebook?
It couldn't possibly be the Church Bishop.
Then there is only one possibility!
It turns out the simp Knight couldn't get the love he wanted, so he imagined it all himself and even wrote it down in a notebook.
Damn, what a freak!
PS: This Church is not normal.
After all, the Goddess of Light is actually a disguise for the god of greed and lust.
In a Church like this, can you really expect the nuns inside to remain chaste? (Dog head)
