Chapter 97: The Demolition Second-Generation Receptionist and the First Office Experience
For the past two days, Wei Jin has been uncharacteristically idle, drifting into the company like he was just clocking in to slack off, ready to enjoy the pleasures of being a capitalist.
Upon entering the company, he found the receptionist, Zhang Wen, on the phone during work hours, and a mischievous thought crossed Wei Jin's mind.
"Ahem."
"Ah, President Wei, let me explain..."
"Zhang Wen, you've been with the company for over two years now, haven't you? Look at Zhang Xu, who joined at the same time as you—hmm? He's already the Artist Department Director now. And look at Li Na, who came even later than you; she's now in charge of the company's secretarial office."
Wei Jin poked at the sore spot of the working stiff with a cold expression, speaking somewhat cruelly.
"President Wei, I..."
The young girl seemed to have something to say.
"Look at yourself. Has your salary increased in these years? Has your position changed? Have you ever thought about why? Can you look for the reasons within yourself?"
Wei Jin assumed this speech would make the young girl feel ashamed, and then he could tease her for double the fun, but he never could have understood the thoughts of a young person.
"But, President Wei, I'm the one who chose to stay as the receptionist."
Zhang Wen looked innocent; this wasn't a lie. Chen Zhiming had discussed it with her a long time ago, but she didn't want to transfer positions.
"What kind of mindset is this? Being young and lacking ambition is unacceptable. Does your family own a mine, or do you have a wealthy husband? A girl must rely on herself."
Seeing that the company receptionist was about to go down the wrong path, Wei Jin decided to serve up two more bowls of chicken soup; he couldn't let an employee slack off.
"My family doesn't own a mine, I just had a few houses demolished a few years ago..."
As a Beijing local, once Zhang Wen said this, Wei Jin was left speechless. How is one supposed to advise a 'demolition second-generation' like this? "But don't you feel that the receptionist position can't utilize your abilities at all? Don't you want to realize your self-worth?"
"I think being a receptionist is pretty good. I can often see celebrities, and I can get autographs and photos. President Wei, you have no idea how high my status is among my girlfriends..."
Once the conversation reached this point, Zhang Wen seemed to have opened the floodgates, looking excited.
It seemed this was a salted fish with money and time who was single-mindedly chasing stars. Wei Jin couldn't do anything about her, so he could only force a save: "Then what were you doing just now? Since you like this position, you have to do it well, otherwise, be careful or I'll promote you so you can't be a receptionist anymore."
Once these words were out, even Wei Jin laughed, and Zhang Wen was also tickled pink. Seeming to realize she had been too presumptuous in front of her boss, she spoke up:
"President Wei, you misunderstood. It was Secretary Li calling me just now."
She then explained that the receptionist's landline had been busy, so Li Na had called Zhang Wen's cell phone to inform her that a director named Kang Honglei would be visiting later and to have her lead him directly to President Chen's office.
Hearing the name Kang Honglei, Wei Jin had an idea; it must be about *Soldiers Sortie*.
This show had come to Wei Jin Company to solicit investment last year. At the time, Wei Jin was busy with *Painted Skin*, so he had told Chen Zhiming to invest directly and hadn't asked much more about it.
Nodding, Wei Jin stopped teasing the young receptionist Zhang Wen and headed straight to his office.
Wei Jin spent the whole day handling quite a few matters at the company and took the opportunity to send emails to North America to delegate some work. Just as he was preparing to leave, Chen Zhiming knocked and entered.
"President Wei, am I interrupting you?"
"Lao Chen, sit. Is this about Kang Honglei from this morning?"
Wei Jin had anticipated this, so he calmly invited Chen Zhiming to sit and even brewed a cup of tea himself.
"Yes, *Soldiers Sortie* has finished filming and is about to enter post-production. However, he doesn't have much confidence in selling the show and wants to ask us to step in and contact the television stations."
Although Chen Zhiming was curious about how Wei Jin knew, he didn't ask and simply explained the matter.
"Mm, I know. Tell him not to worry." Wei Jin knew that Kang Honglei was worried that this type of subject matter wouldn't be popular and was trying to get a head start on the precautions, but Wei Jin had his own ideas and had long since made plans.
"Also, President Wei, regarding your new Assistant, do you want the company to recruit externally, or do you already have a preferred candidate?"
As the person closest to the boss, Chen Zhiming didn't dare to overstep his bounds on such matters.
"Recruit externally. I don't have any thoughts on it right now, and there's no rush; there aren't any projects in the near future anyway."
Wei Jin was staying in Beijing for the time being, so the role of an assistant wasn't very significant yet.
"By the way, Emperor Group has sent another invitation."
Since *Painted Skin*, Yang Shoucheng had been seeking cooperation, and Wei Jin had some thoughts on the matter.
"Alright, I know."
Chen Zhiming nodded, then reported a few more things to Wei Jin before taking his leave.
For several days in a row, Wei Jin buried himself in his office writing scripts. Currently, Qidian hadn't produced any blockbusters yet, so he could only keep milking the inventory in his brain.
Having finished transcribing a script, Wei Jin was just about to get up to stretch his muscles when he saw Liu Yan come into the office.
"Why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be recording the show?"
Wei Jin was a bit surprised. He had been to the set once before; the stage was built quite decently and didn't differ much from the image in Wei Jin's mind. After a brief understanding, he knew the project was set to start recording in a few days.
"Recording starts tomorrow, so today is my last day as your Assistant."
Today, Liu Yan was still wearing the office lady outfit Wei Jin had requested, which further highlighted her natural assets and charm.
Walking around the desk, Liu Yan came before Wei Jin, extended her slender fingers, and pressed them lightly against Wei Jin's chest, her face carrying a hint of seduction:
"Boss, it's the last day. Don't you want to properly taste your Assistant in the office?"
Looking at Liu Yan like this, Wei Jin was naturally tempted. His large palm wandered back and forth over her hip-hugging skirt, and the friction of the black silk against his hand made Wei Jin somewhat addicted, but his mind remained clear: "So bold? If you really want to, I'll go to your place tonight..."
"Boss, an Assistant's work should naturally be completed in the office. Don't you want to?"
Sensing Wei Jin's hesitation, Liu Yan leaned over him and whispered in his ear:
"I've already locked the door, and I told Li Na that you have important matters to attend to, so no one will disturb us. For the time remaining, I am yours..."
Although Liu Yan wore a seductive expression, she actually felt a bit of shame inside.
Although she had only been by Wei Jin's side for half a year, this man's talent, looks, ability, and body were all conquering Liu Yan's heart. She was clear about her own status and identity, however, and never harbored any inappropriate thoughts.
It was just that she was about to leave the Assistant position and would no longer be the closest person to Wei Jin. Perhaps by relying on the man's nostalgia, he wouldn't forget her, but there was a difference between closeness and distance after all. So, Liu Yan thought she must leave Wei Jin with a beautiful memory so he would always remember her.
Seeing that Liu Yan had already gone this far, Wei Jin no longer hesitated, his hands gradually occupying the familiar high ground.
His practiced technique soon took effect; Liu Yan's eyes were already hazy, and her red lips parted slightly, as if sending a signal.
Two hours later, Wei Jin tidied himself up and left the office. This first office experience gave him an excellent experience, and he finally understood why rich people had so many special hobbies.
After getting a taste of the sweetness, Wei Jin became increasingly unstoppable, to the point that his subsequent assistants all carried on this fine tradition, but those are stories for another time... The new book is on the shelves; the third update of the day is presented. I humbly ask all readers for a subscription and to add it to your library. Thank you, everyone!
