Chapter 139: The Laugh Line You Can

~9 min read 1,774 words

Fang Hong exchanged a few polite words with Deng Chao, then stopped talking—there was nothing left to say; the two had no real connection.

At most, if a role comes up and they need him to act, he'll show up; if not, they'll find someone else.

In Fang Hong's eyes, there were plenty of actors—no one was irreplaceable, no one indispensable.

He wouldn't let the Jade Rabbit be manipulated by actors!

Fang Hong's treatment on this set was completely different from Liu Tianxian's treatment on his own set.

On this set, almost no one cared about him.

On that set, everyone knew she was "Boss's Wife," and treated her with great courtesy.

Fang Hong kept a low profile, caused no trouble, and simply watched quietly as Liu Tianxian filmed.

In the scene, Liu Tianxian sat the whole time in a wheelchair—the chair looked like it had an electric switch, moving automatically, incredibly high-tech.

They were filming a fight scene now; no one knew the plot anyway—just a bunch of extras in ancient costumes, looking like villains, chasing after the main actors.

Liu Tianxian couldn't move her legs; her character Wuqing was disabled, so she was strapped to wires and had to leap and spin from her wheelchair.

In her hands, she held two canes, sweeping them at approaching enemies.

Isn't it supposed to be mind-controlled? Why not just control it with thought? Fang Hong didn't understand any of it.

Soon, more extras appeared, rushing at Liu Tianxian with swords raised.

Liu Tianxian leapt upward toward the pavilion—but *bang! * her head slammed into a pillar, the sound loud and clear.

Crew members rushed to lower her down immediately.

Several crew members rushed forward; Fang Hong also hurried over.

"Are you okay?"

"We need to do it again."

"This take won't work—do it again."

"."

Many people were talking on set, creating an unusually noisy atmosphere—Hong Kong's team wasn't as professional as imagined.

Liu Tianxian pressed her hand to the back of her head, chin raised, silent, as if holding back pain, tears glistening in her eyes.

Crew members urged her to try again.

"Wait a moment—I want to see where I hit." Liu Tianxian rubbed her head and looked up at the pillar.

She needed to rest—her head hurt too much.

"See that nail? Right next to it," the martial arts director pointed.

Liu Tianxian looked, then felt a wave of dread: "Can you move this pillar somewhere else?"

"We'll fix it," the crew member said.

Liu Tianxian said nothing more, took a breath, and endured the pain.

Fang Hong couldn't do anything—this was her job; filming ancient martial arts dramas always carried risks.

They couldn't just stop filming—he agreed with that, even if it was a bad movie, but Liu Tianxian certainly wouldn't want to quit.

With Liu Tianxian's personality, saying too much would make her think he didn't understand her.

They filmed the scene again; this time Liu Tianxian was more careful, landed steadily on the pavilion, jumped down, and the scene was finally done.

After filming ended, Liu Tianxian noticed Fang Hong was gone and searched everywhere but couldn't find him.

"Looking for the Principal? I just saw him leave." Deng Chao said.

"Where did he go?" Liu Tianxian asked.

"Don't know—he left the set." Deng Chao said.

Liu Tianxian nodded, a chill rising in her heart—he just left, without even saying goodbye.

Her head ached, her heart felt cold—cold toward Fang Hong! Deng Chao, seeing her expression, ventured: "Are you two dating?"

"Right now only—"

"Feifei."

Just as Liu Tianxian was about to answer, she heard a familiar voice call out.

She turned and saw Fang Hong walking toward her, holding a bag in his hand.

Seeing him, the chill in her heart lifted—her tone grew urgent: "Where did you go?"

"I saw you got hurt, so I went to buy you some medicine—I didn't know which kind was right, so I bought them all." Fang Hong stepped closer and opened the bag.

Liu Tianxian peered inside—the bag held several types of medicine, all ointments; warmth immediately rose in her heart.

She'd thought this man had abandoned her and left! "You two chat, I'll get back to work."

Deng Chao, seeing their dynamic, understood roughly what was going on—he nodded to Fang Hong in greeting and walked off.

Probably this guy was groveling for Liu Tianxian, and she was still in observation mode.

"Okay," Liu Tianxian replied.

Fang Hong merely nodded and asked her: "Still hurting?"

"Yes, it hurts a lot."

Liu Tianxian's tone was coquettish; she turned around and pointed to the back of her head: "Check if there's swelling—right here."

Fang Hong parted her hair and examined closely: "A bit swollen, but no broken skin—I'll apply some ointment."

He found a bruise-relieving, pain-killing ointment and gently rubbed it on.

"How does it feel?" he asked.

"How can you feel anything right away?" Liu Tianxian said.

Her heart warmed even more—this man was so attentive to her; the last time he'd been this thoughtful was when he brought her soy skin, wasn't it? She thoroughly enjoyed being cared for.

Many people noticed this scene, including Jiang Jianzhu, who also noticed.

Her eyes held boundless curiosity and envy.

"Alright!"

Fang Hong patted her head and put away the ointment. "I'm going to shoot a scene. Stay here. Tell me before you leave," Liu Tianxian instructed.

Just now he was nowhere to be seen, and suddenly there was a hollow feeling—when had she grown so accustomed to his company?

"I'm not leaving yet. I'll stay with you for two days. I'll celebrate your birthday with you," Fang Hong said.

"Good for you, then," Liu Tianxian smiled.

Fang Hong didn't wander around the set—he stayed in his fixed spot, watching the filming, feeling like a househusband.

Usually, men worked hard on set to earn money, while women came to visit and bring warmth.

But here, it was the woman working hard on set to earn money, and the man coming to visit and bring warmth.

The yin and yang were reversed.

This wouldn't do—he needed to work hard, couldn't fall behind—so he pulled out his phone and began remote micromanaging.

"Hello, you're Liu Tianxian's friend, right?" Jiang Jianzhu sat down on the chair beside Fang Hong.

Fang Hong looked at the man but didn't answer. "What do you want?"

"Oh, I'm her classmate. Jiang Jianzhu," Jiang Jianzhu said.

"I've heard a little," Fang Hong said, expressionless.

"I see how you two are acting—it looks like you're dating, right?" Jiang Jianzhu pressed on eagerly.

"You're asking too much," Fang Hong said.

"No, I mean no harm. I'm usually quite close to Tianxian. She shares some of her life with us. I know all her friends around here—but I've never heard of you. I'm just curious."

Jiang Jianzhu's words sounded harmless, but there was still malice in them.

Liu Tianxian would tell them about her daily life and mention her social circle—but never mention Fang Hong, never treat him as anything significant.

That was essentially the meaning—this kind of provocation was common in the entertainment industry.

Fang Hong understood perfectly. Jiang Jianzhu's little scheme meant nothing to him.

"You don't need to be curious. My existence isn't something she needs to tell you about."

Fang Hong's words sounded arrogant.

"What?" Jiang Jianzhu was stunned.

"Because you're not qualified."

Fang Hong intensified his tone, determined to make the meaning crystal clear.

The words were too blunt—Jiang Jianzhu's face flushed with embarrassment.

Most men chasing Liu Tianxian would flatter her circle. No one expected this man to be so brazen.

"Gigglegigglegiggle."

Just as Jiang Jianzhu was left speechless by Fang Hong's words, Liu Tianxian rolled toward them in a wheelchair, her signature goose-like laugh echoing from afar.

"Fang Hong, stop me quick—it's out of control!" Liu Tianxian sat in the wheelchair, unafraid, even finding it hilarious, laughing uncontrollably.

Fang Hong stood, walked over, grabbed the back handles of the wheelchair, and brought it to an immediate stop.

"So funny—it actually lost control!" Liu Tianxian clung to Fang Hong's shoulder, gasping with laughter.

Fang Hong was utterly baffled—he simply couldn't get the joke.

Jiang Jianzhu kept a polite smile on his face.

In truth, she didn't know the joke either—but to keep up appearances, she still had to pretend to laugh.

"Yifei, come sit here," Jiang Jianzhu courteously offered his seat.

Liu Tianxian suppressed her urge to laugh and sat in the middle, with both men seated beside her.

"Hey, I haven't even asked this gentleman his name," Jiang Jianzhu said, referring to Fang Hong.

"He's surnamed Fang, single character Hong—the Hong from Hongwu," Liu Tianxian said, drawing the character in the air with her finger.

Jiang Jianzhu nodded knowingly: "I just had a brief chat with Mr. Fang. He's quite talkative."

"He's usually quite chatty."

Liu Tianxian spoke casually, unaware of what had just happened.

Fang Hong just smiled, saying nothing—he was clever, first building rapport before moving on.

"Mr. Fang might not know, but Yifei has many boys chasing her. But she doesn't like talking, so most give up," Jiang Jianzhu said.

This not only exposed Liu Tianxian's private life but also painted her as difficult to get along with.

Liu Tianxian's face darkened. "You know that?"

"Wasn't there some overseas Chinese billionaire's son chasing you? What happened to you two?" Jiang Jianzhu shot back.

"If I didn't know about it, how do you?"

Liu Tianxian took a deep breath, crossed her legs, and tapped her knee with her fingers, forcing herself to control her temper.

She and Fang Hong had been getting along fine—now this woman had to come stir up trouble.

"No no, I just heard rumors!" Jiang Jianzhu realized Liu Tianxian was getting angry.

"If it's just rumor, don't bring it up. I've also heard many little-known things about Jiang Jianzhu."

Before Fang Hong finished, Liu Tianxian placed her hand on his thigh and patted it—signaling him to stop.

Some gossip could be fatal to a female actress's career. She didn't want to go that far.

"Everything you said is just hearsay—none of it's true," Liu Tianxian gave Jiang Jianzhu face.

If Fang Hong had said it, Jiang Jianzhu would've been stripped bare today.

"I only heard it from a classmate surnamed Deng. I didn't know it myself," Jiang Jianzhu realized he'd gone too far.

Now he'd offended both of them—why was this man siding with Liu Tianxian?

"Did he talk to you about it?" Liu Tianxian's tone was unfriendly.

The famous scenes are made up by the author based on reality and the plot—don't read into them as gossip.
