Chapter 185: Drink More Hot Water
That night, Liu Tianxian didn't sleep; she stared with her phoenix eyes at the ceiling, as if lost in thought.
She took out her phone to look at their photo together, and the snowman they'd built in the snow—she'd taken a picture of that too.
Without realizing it, she'd taken quite a few photos—all of their everyday life together—but still too few, she flipped through them in an instant.
Then she put down her phone, murmured slightly, and tasted the man's flavor on her lips.
She didn't know how long passed before she finally fell into a deep sleep; she slept straight through until noon the next day, then immediately grabbed her phone to see if the man had called her.
But her phone was silent—only messages from her agent and friends, none from that man.
Strange, the man was usually clingy, especially now during their hot romance—he always had to be glued to her.
Why so quiet? She dialed him herself.
"Hello—cough cough cough!"
Fang Hong's voice was weak, accompanied by repeated coughs.
Liu Tianxian was startled: "What's wrong with you?"
"I'm sick, feverish," Fang Hong said, then coughed again.
"How did you get sick? Lie down, I'm coming right now."
Liu Tianxian hung up immediately, looking anxious, and quickly washed up.
She tied her long hair loosely, grabbed her clothes, and ran out.
"Hey, Xixi, aren't you eating?" Liu Xiaoli called from behind.
"Not eating, Mom, you eat alone!"
Liu Tianxian was still putting on her clothes as she spoke, frantic.
Liu Xiaoli sighed—truly, they couldn't be apart for a moment.
Then a red Ferrari roared out of the Villa.
She drove well—even well enough to drive with one hand—but after meeting Fang Hong, he made her sit in the passenger seat.
That man had a bit of machismo.
Fang Hong lay on his bed at home, face flushed and weak!
Xu Liyun brought ginger soup and fed it to him: "You were fine yesterday, how did you get sick just from going out? You should go to the hospital!"
Her son had seemed off when he came home last night; his condition worsened after he fell asleep.
"I'll tough it out for a couple days, no need," Fang Hong sat up, drinking the ginger soup.
Last night he was buried in snow, then chilled by the wind, then Liu Tianxian shoved snow down his clothes, then they stayed outside too long building that snowman—of course he got sick.
How many people have Liu Tianxian's energy?
Liu Tianxian's Ferrari sped fast, and soon pulled up steadily in front of Fang Hong's house.
She jumped out, pressed her key fob, and sprinted toward the house—this big iron gate couldn't stop her.
Heizi didn't bark at her; last time she came, it had barked wildly and been scolded by its master—it remembered.
Liu Tianxian knew Fang Hong's room; she'd been there before.
When she appeared directly in his room, she saw him lying in bed, wrapped in thick blankets, looking frail.
"Is it serious?"
She felt heartbroken, rushed forward, placed her hand on Fang Hong's forehead—hot—and pulled the blanket tighter: "So hot, why didn't you go to the hospital?!"
"He's had a fever all night—I wanted to take him to the hospital, but he refused," Xu Liyun said, equally worried beside her.
Liu Tianxian hadn't even noticed Xu Liyun just now.
"I'll push through it, why go to the hospital?" Fang Hong whispered.
He was young—this was how it was.
"You're like this and still showing off!"
Liu Tianxian wouldn't coddle him like his mother; she grabbed him and turned to Xu Liyun: "Auntie, help me—we're taking him to the hospital."
"Alright!"
Xu Liyun stepped forward to help; Liu Tianxian was decisive—she didn't care about excuses, she'd tried talking him out of it for ages and failed.
The two of them, one on each side, wrapped Fang Hong in thick clothes and helped him walk out.
Fang Hong could walk in this state, just lacked strength.
Luckily, Liu Tianxian had her car; they put Fang Hong in the passenger seat. Xu Liyun said: "Yifei, go ahead—I'll boil some soup and come later, Xiao Hong didn't eat breakfast."
"Okay, Auntie," Liu Tianxian nodded.
Just as she was about to drive off, Xu Liyun turned back: "Yifei, have you eaten?"
"No, I'll eat at the hospital," Liu Tianxian didn't want to cause trouble.
"I'll make extra and bring it to you," Xu Liyun said.
"Fine," Liu Tianxian didn't refuse.
After saying that, she glanced at Fang Hong slumped in his seat, touched his forehead again, then started the car and drove off.
This scene was just seen by Jiang Shuying as she arrived.
Curious, she quickened her steps: "Auntie, what's going on?"
"My son is sick, I'm too busy today—maybe another time," Xu Liyun declined the invitation gently.
"Oh, then Auntie, please take care," Jiang Shuying handed over the gift she held.
"No, no, this is too valuable—I can't accept it," Xu Liyun refused.
"Just take it!"
Jiang Shuying dropped it and walked away, giving no chance to refuse.
Xu Liyun was torn—accepting it felt wrong, refusing it felt worse too.
Let's return it next time I'm free!
When the car arrived at the nearby hospital, Liu Tianxian had arranged for Fang Hong a relatively luxurious single room. She then ran back and forth, exhausted—she had to find the doctor, get the medicine, and handle all the consultations, since Fang Hong had no other family.
After finishing all that, Liu Tianxian glanced at Fang Hong, now hooked up to an IV, and asked: "Doctor, is he not seriously ill?"
"Let's observe him overnight. He's probably fine—he's still so young," the doctor replied cautiously.
As he left, he gave the two of them a long, deep look.
Liu Tianxian found a chair and sat beside Fang Hong's bed, watching him.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" Fang Hong lay there.
Though he had a fever, he was still conscious—just hot and uncomfortable.
"To see if you've burned out your brain," Liu Tianxian said.
"Miss, I'm this way already—can't you say me a few sweet words?" Fang Hong sighed weakly.
"You only behave when someone's holding you down. Without pressure, you think you can do anything. You got chilled, yet you didn't say a word—only spoke up after falling sick."
Liu Tianxian was still annoyed and wanted to scold him.
Fang Hong fell silent, noticing Liu Tianxian's disheveled appearance—she must have rushed out, or she wouldn't have arrived so quickly.
She must have been truly worried.
Seeing he wouldn't speak, Liu Tianxian couldn't bring herself to scold him further. Instead, she leaned forward, took his hand in hers, and softened her tone: "Are you feeling any worse now?"
"Better," Fang Hong said.
"Would you like some water? I'll pour you a cup," Liu Tianxian asked, concerned.
When sick, drink more hot water.
"Drink!" Fang Hong nodded.
Liu Tianxian poured a cup of hot water from the bedside cabinet, tested the temperature, then added a bit of cool water until it felt just right: "Come on, sit up."
She helped Fang Hong sit up, then sat at the head of the bed, letting half his body lean against her, and fed him the water.
The hospital was temperature-controlled; Liu Tianxian wore little—just a white undershirt and a gray knit cardigan, her down jacket hanging nearby.
Fang Hong could feel her soft body, and his head rested near her chest.
"Feeling better?"
Liu Tianxian set the empty cup aside.
"With you here, I feel much better. Water only quenches thirst," Fang Hong said.
"You're still flattery even like this."
Liu Tianxian's mood lifted—seeing this man was fine.
She grabbed a few tissues and wiped his face.
"This isn't flattery—I'm stating facts. You give me spiritual strength, something water can't do," Fang Hong kept talking.
Liu Tianxian smiled faintly: "Why don't you ever flatter me like this normally?"
Saying that, she prepared to rise and let him lie down.
"Hey, don't go—let me keep leaning on you," Fang Hong stopped her.
"Why lean on me? Sleep first, rest a bit—I'll stay right here," Liu Tianxian said.
"It's comfortable."
Fang Hong adjusted into a more comfortable position: "It's good having you."
"Now you know how good I am, but you used to act so high-and-mighty in front of me," Liu Tianxian said lightly.
"No matter how high-and-mighty I acted, you still held me down with one hand."
"That's true!"
Liu Tianxian felt proud.
The two chatted quietly—her soft, high-pitched voice had a hypnotic effect, and soon Fang Hong fell asleep.
Being sick makes you sleepier.
After he fell asleep, Liu Tianxian gently laid him down, moving softly—this way was more comfortable.
Then she sat on the nearby chair, propping her chin on one hand, watching him.
"Ding-ding-ding!"
Her phone suddenly rang. She quickly muted it to vibrate, glanced at the number, and tapped her own forehead: "I forgot about Auntie."
She hurried out, quietly closing the door, then answered the call.
When she returned moments later, she brought Xu Liyun with her.
"Xiao Hong's asleep!" Xu Liyun glanced at the hospital bed.
"Just fell asleep."
Liu Tianxian fetched another chair and gestured: "Auntie, please sit."
"I'm so grateful to you. My son's never obedient," Xu Liyun said, relieved.
Liu Tianxian gave a polite, slight smile but said nothing.
"Drink some chicken soup—I just made it."
Xu Liyun opened a thermos on the table; the aroma filled the room. She poured a full bowl and handed it to Liu Tianxian.
Then she took out a pair of chopsticks: "The bowl and chopsticks are clean—I disinfected them."
She feared Liu Tianxian might find them unclean—this girl looked like a refined lady.
"No problem, Auntie—I'm not that fussy," Liu Tianxian said casually.
She hadn't eaten before rushing over; the smell made her hungry. She dropped all pretense of elegance, picked up the chopsticks, and started eating.
