Chapter 253: I Will Definitely Get Married
Now the dressing room held only the two of them—one furious, the other indifferent.
Fang Hong was shoved away: "Why are you so angry? Can't we talk this through?"
"I have nothing to discuss with you," Liu Tianxian snapped.
"Look at you—it's just that I didn't celebrate Valentine's Day. I'll make it up next time," Fang Hong stepped forward, gripping her shoulders.
"Get lost!"
Liu Tianxian couldn't take it anymore; she stood and shoved him repeatedly toward the door.
Still talking about Valentine's Day—was this even about Valentine's Day? It was about her birthday, about whether he cared! "Fine, fine, I'm leaving!" Fang Hong soothed: "Don't be mad!"
"Bang!"
Liu Tianxian slammed the door shut, never wanting to see this man again.
It felt like talking to a cow!
So infuriating—her chest heaved violently, one hand on her waist, the other pressing her forehead; she exhaled sharply several times, trying to calm herself.
She thought back to how she used to be—she never got this angry. If he didn't wish her well or give a gift, she'd just feel a little uneasy, then let it go—what did it matter? Now her reaction was way too strong—it shouldn't be like this! Whether he loved or not, whether he gave gifts or not—
Thinking of this, she took several deep breaths again and sat back down before the vanity mirror, still unsettled, still deeply upset.
"Bang bang bang!"
She pounded the vanity table several times, sending cosmetics and makeup flying everywhere.
She cursed: "Dead Fang Gouzi, always just blabbering, never a single real action."
"..."
"Strange, why hasn't that man come back yet? He's usually so thick-skinned." Liu Tianxian fumed for a long while,
noticing how quiet everything had become—Fang Hong had been gone for ages and hadn't returned; normally he was so shameless, you couldn't chase him away.
She stood up, opened the door, and stepped outside—but outside was pitch black and utterly silent.
She pulled out her phone and shone the light around; everywhere she looked, there was nothing—everything movable had been taken away, even the equipment, not a single person in sight, not even a car left.
Only the dressing room behind her remained lit.
This made her uneasy—everyone had left, so why didn't anyone call her?
She remembered the earlier "ding-dong" sounds of moving gear, the crew shouting and organizing.
Had she gotten so angry she lost her senses? Thinking of this, she quickly dialed "Fang Gouzi."
"Sorry, the number you dialed is temporarily unreachable, sorry," came the automated voice.
This made Liu Tianxian feel a deep loneliness, a sense of being abandoned.
She shouted into the darkness: "Fang Hong, where are you?"
No response—not even an echo.
"Fang Hong, don't scare me—I know you're nearby," Liu Tianxian called out again, tentatively.
Still no sound—utter silence! Her heart grew anxious; she stepped deeper into the darkness, the weak glow of her phone the only light ahead, everything else still pitch black.
This environment intensified her loneliness. "Fang Gouzi," she changed her tone, hoping to provoke him into appearing.
Still no sound—now she was frightened.
She was in a strange place, didn't even know where she was—she'd only followed the crew here, knew only the place's name.
"Fang Gouzi, don't scare me, okay?" Her voice trembled with fear.
"Fang Gouzi!"
"."
As she called out, her voice grew shaky—she was clearly terrified.
The surrounding darkness and silence gave her a feeling of both fear and loneliness—she hadn't felt this way in a long time.
"Gouzi, if you don't come out now, I'll never speak to you again."
"That's too cruel of you!"
Before she finished speaking, she heard a familiar voice—and felt someone bump into her from behind.
She raised her phone to shine the light—sure enough, it was that familiar face; she cried out: "Where did you go?"
"I've been here all along!" Fang Hong said.
"Do you know how much you scared me? This kind of game isn't funny!" Liu Tianxian shouted, voice cracking with tears.
She pounded his chest several times, heart aching—this loneliness and fear were the very things she dreaded most.
The last time she'd felt this was when she was doxxed online and hid alone in her room.
"I just wanted to give you a surprise."
Fang Hong snapped his fingers—"snap."
With the snap, one by one, "whoosh whoosh whoosh," candles ignited, glowing with candlelight.
Liu Tianxian turned her head—when all the candles lit up, they formed a "heart" around them; the flickering flames shimmered like twinkling stars!
The two stood in the center of this heart-shaped glow; Fang Hong gazed at her face, softly lit by the candles: "You always say I forget your birthday, that I don't understand romance— I just wasn't ready."
"All these candles? You needed to prepare for this?" Liu Tianxian's voice softened.
She was moved—so long as this man did something, anything, it was enough.
"Look!"
Fang Hong pointed ahead—and as if by magic, the area ahead lit up.
Above the heart-shaped candles, brilliant Chinese red glowed: the characters "Liu Yifei."
Around those three characters, countless red roses bloomed.
"Do you like it?" Fang Hong looked at her.
"That's it?"
Liu Tianxian's face carried a sweet smile; the unhappiness, loneliness, and fear from earlier completely dissolved at this moment.
She knew this man cared about her — he had just played a little too fancy with it and given her a scare.
"That's still not enough!" said Fang Hong. "You scared me, you know. I'm still afraid right now." Liu Tianxian looked aggrieved.
"Then there's no choice — I'll have to bring out the big guns. Wait for me!" Fang Hong said, then ran back out.
"Hey—"
Liu Tianxian reached out to stop him, and Fang Hong turned his head: "Wait for me, I'll be right back."
With that, he ran off into the darkness.
Liu Tianxian stamped her foot, wondering what trick this man was about to pull now.
She was now even afraid of Fang Hong leaving her behind — a feeling of dependence had taken root in her heart!
"Happy birthday to you!"
"."
Along with that chorus of song, Fang Hong pushed a cart out from the darkness; on top of the cart sat a huge cake, ringed with candles.
Liu Tianxian turned and looked around her.
All at once a great many people appeared — Lu Yang, Chen Sicheng, Liu Yin, Li Anran, Lu Dabo, Han Jianü, Duan Yihong, Zhang Songwen, Xie Miao, Zhu Yilong, Jiang Shuying — many, many familiar faces from the production crew.
Singing the birthday song, clapping their hands, they gathered toward her.
Seeing this scene, Liu Tianxian couldn't help but cover her mouth with both hands; her eyes glistened with tears, deeply moved.
She hadn't expected Fang Hong to give her such a huge surprise!
"Fairy Sister, you don't know — to set all this up for you, the Principal planned for ages, didn't sleep a wink, dragged our whole group out to shop every day, then schemed and arranged how to do it, how to set it up, and we had to keep our mouths shut about it. I've been holding it in for days now."
Lu Dabo opened his mouth to claim credit, but the merit still belonged to the Principal — he couldn't steal the spotlight.
"Thank you," Liu Tianxian said, looking at Fang Hong, her eyes tender as water.
This man had finally been romantic once — no, twice; last winter he'd been romantic once too.
"How about it? A Valentine's Day and birthday banquet like this — do you like it?" Fang Hong said.
"Actually, I like things simpler," Liu Tianxian said with a smile.
Fang Hong smiled and shook his head — women! Just now she'd said this was it, nothing special; now she said it was too complicated and she liked things simpler.
But he knew she was only saying it in fun.
Watching the two of them gaze at each other, Jiang Shuying felt both envious and wistful — when would she meet a man so capable and so devoted to her?
If she did, she'd be willing to die for it! "Yifei, happy birthday!" said Chen Sicheng.
"Happy birthday!" said Lu Yang.
"Happy birthday!" Liu Yin.
"Happy birthday!" Li Anran. "Happy birthday!" Han Jianü. "Happy birthday!" Duan Yihong. "Happy birthday!" Zhang Songwen. "Happy birthday!" Xie Miao.
"Happy birthday!" Zhu Yilong.
"Happy birthday!" Jiang Shuying. "."
With over a hundred people here, blessings rose one after another; everyone offered Liu Tianxian a wish.
Liu Tianxian swept her gaze across their faces, feeling gratified, then looked back at Fang Hong — only this man hadn't told her happy birthday.
She only wanted to hear it from this man; from others it didn't touch her deeply — she'd heard it too often.
"."
Fang Hong drew in a breath, then let it out in a deflate: "Let's blow out the candles!"
"Hahaha!" The people around burst out laughing at that.
Liu Tianxian, whose face had been beaming with joy, immediately turned unhappy and stepped forward to hit him.
"Alright, alright."
Fang Hong reached out and gathered her into his arms.
Liu Tianxian didn't resist, didn't really mean to hit him — she was just unhappy, that's all.
"Happy birthday!"
Fang Hong lowered his head and said it with sincere feeling.
Liu Tianxian was moved inside — this was the first time he'd ever said those four words to her face.
Before, it had always been over the phone.
"Alright, make a wish, blow out the candles." Fang Hong gestured.
Liu Tianxian nodded, walked up to the cake, looked at the candles stuck in it, and said self-mockingly: "Sigh, I'm already 25, almost thirty."
"Hahaha!"
The people around burst into laughter.
"Then Xixi-jie, shouldn't you find someone to marry soon? Careful you can't get married off!" someone joked.
"Don't worry, I'll definitely be able to marry," Liu Tianxian replied with a smile, glancing at Fang Hong.
After saying that, she closed her eyes, pressed her hands together in prayer, then puffed out her cheeks and blew out all the candles in one breath.
Her breath was plenty strong — and fierce!
"What wish did you make?" Fang Hong asked.
"I'm not telling you."
Liu Tianxian acted coy, then secretly grabbed a handful of cake and smeared it onto Fang Hong's face, rubbing it in until his whole face was covered in cake.
"Hehehe!" Liu Tianxian laughed extra loudly, even showing her gums.
Fang Hong wiped his face, grabbed some cake, and threw it.
"Fairy Sister, run!"
No one knew who shouted it, but Liu Tianxian had already run off far away.
Without a doubt, the two of them started throwing cake at each other, their bodies and faces covered in cake cream.
Led on by the two of them, the others also livened up, and for a moment the scene was lively, with cake crumbs flying everywhere.
What a waste — if you're not going to eat it, give it to the "simp" to eat! (End of chapter)
