Chapter 304: Fate All Used Up
That evening, Liu Tianxian was staying here, and since Fang Hong had stayed at her place for a night, it was only right that Liu Tianxian stay here for a night too — a mutual arrangement.
It had been agreed upon beforehand, after all.
Xu Liyun had tidied up a room for Liu Tianxian, put out fresh bedding, and prepared all her toiletries.
She also said to let her know if anything else was needed!
At night, Liu Tianxian washed her face and hair in the bathroom. Her face looked fresh and natural, her hair was a mess but already blow-dried and unstyled, giving her an overall languid beauty.
Just as she was about to change clothes, she saw the door open and Fang Hong walk in.
"Oops, wrong room." Fang Hong put on a show, slapping his forehead.
At his own home, going into Liu Tianxian's room was no big deal — even if Xu Liyun found out, she wouldn't say anything; she'd actually encourage it, hoping for a baby soon.
Back at Liu Tianxian's place, it was different — he didn't know Liu Xiaoli's temperament, and there were too many elders around.
Liu Tianxian said nothing, a faint smile on her face, quietly watching him put on his act.
"Drank too much, got all muddled, couldn't tell which way was which." Fang Hong said it quite convincingly, didn't leave, and even closed the door behind him.
"Mr. Fang going into the wrong room is fine, but in life, don't go down the wrong path — that wouldn't be good." Liu Tianxian brushed her hair back, wanting to keep up appearances in front of her lover.
In her heart, of course she knew what he was up to.
There was no other meaning behind those words — just that going into her room was fine, but in the future, don't go into other girls' rooms.
"I won't. My life is led by you."
Fang Hong walked closer, leaned in near her ear, and caught a pleasant fragrance.
Liu Tianxian smiled radiantly.
"The moon is very round tonight. I'd like to invite Miss Liu to admire it — would that be acceptable?" Fang Hong extended his hand.
"Yes!"
Liu Tianxian happily placed her hand in his.
The two walked to the windowsill. Liu Tianxian nestled in his arms, looking up at the bright moon in the sky — tonight's moon wasn't perfectly round, but it was exceptionally bright.
Liu Tianxian didn't mind that his excuse was clumsy, and said softly, "Do you remember the plot of our first movie?"
"I do. The character you played gazed at the bright moon in the sky and made a promise across parallel timelines." Fang Hong remembered it clearly — after all, it was the most complete script he had ever written.
He was referring to the plot of the movie Those Years.
The later scripts were just story outlines, and the screenwriters improvised with their professional expertise.
Of course, if Fang Hong noticed the plot deviated too much from what he remembered of the movie in his previous life, he would point out the issues and send it back for rewriting.
Liu Tianxian asked again, "If parallel timelines really exist, do you think we'd be together?"
"No!" Fang Hong said.
"Huh?!" Liu Tianxian pulled out of his arms and looked at him in confusion.
"The us in parallel timelines were fated to meet but not to be together." Fang Hong put his arm around her shoulder.
"Why do you say that?" Liu Tianxian was puzzled.
"Because we've already used up all our fate. Fate is only one cup's worth — once it's used up, it's gone. Just like life only happens once, they've already run out of fate." Fang Hong explained to her.
Just like rebirth only happens once — without rebirth, he wouldn't have crossed paths with Liu Tianxian.
Hearing this, Liu Tianxian leaned back into his arms, quietly pondering for a while. It seemed to make some sense — fate works in mysterious ways.
Sometimes a single thought, a single accident, can cause two people to brush past each other.
She didn't know what her parallel-timeline self was like, or whether she might have chosen a completely different path at a crossroads.
"I really hope the them in parallel timelines can be like us — able to meet, be together, accompany each other, be tolerant of each other, understand each other." she said.
"Don't ask for too much. Let's just live well for the us of now. The you of this life is very good, very perfect, in my heart." Fang Hong kissed her forehead.
"Don't praise me like that, you'll spoil me rotten, I'll get a big head. If I turn into a shrew someday, hitting and scolding you, I'll blame you." Liu Tianxian said with a grin.
"Then what can I do? My heart only has room for you — if I don't spoil you, who would I spoil?" Fang Hong said.
Liu Tianxian snuggled closer, listening to his heartbeat: "Did you ever have a girlfriend before?"
"No. My first love is you, my moonlight is you, my angel investor is you, my savior is you, my virtuous helpmate is also you—you are one and only in my heart," Fang Hong said.
In his heart, Liu Tianxian was the first woman of this life, the first woman he had ever loved in this life, and also his business investor.
The person who had rushed out without a care in the pouring rain to save him!
The one who helped him manage the household, kept family relations in perfect order, and let him live without worries.
Whether it was family, Yu Xian, or people at the company, they all had a good impression of her. As for Fang Hong, they either had a relationship with him or held him in awe.
Just like before, when Now You See Me was said to have a fake release, the lead actors, confused, all asked Liu Tianxian if this was the case — not Fang Hong.
In Fang Hong's heart, Liu Tianxian is a maxed-out, fully-stacked existence.
So even though Fang Hong could be ruthless and unscrupulous, his treatment of her was completely different from how he treated others.
This was also why Fang Hong was so tolerant of her — even when she wouldn't let him into bed, he didn't harbor deep resentment and maintained understanding.
"Wow, I had no idea I was this important in your heart!" Liu Tianxian exclaimed.
"Of course." Fang Hong said.
"Then I have to tell you — I had been with someone before, during the lowest period of my life, before I met you." Liu Tianxian confessed her past.
"Oh, and then?" Fang Hong asked, going along with it. "Didn't get too deep, felt we weren't compatible so we broke up. Our outlooks on life were different. He was the type who needed me at home raising the kids, not out in the public eye. You know, my dream is to be a good actress and realize my own value."
Liu Tianxian added, "I'm not saying this because I'm unwilling to raise kids and support my husband — I am, very willing. It's just that I need to have my own life. You can't stand in my way, but I will balance my family well."
She was someone who knew how to live. Acting certainly put her in the public eye, but when not filming, most of her time was spent enjoying life.
In other words, she could skip schedules and decline commercial work to focus on family, but acting was her dream.
"What kind of person was he?" Fang Hong felt a competitive urge rising.
"That person was a rich second generation, born into a wealthy family — taller than you, more handsome than you, and more refined than you." Liu Tianxian said.
"So I'm nothing then!" Fang Hong was speechless. Knew he shouldn't have asked — felt beaten down.
Liu Tianxian smiled: "You have a shining point he doesn't have. He can never compare to you in this lifetime."
"What shining point?" Fang Hong asked.
"Willpower! You can face temptation without wavering, he can't; you can face pressure and endure, he can't; you can work diligently day after day for years, he can't," Liu Tianxian said.
Fang Hong caught the drift — that guy was basically a young master.
"Just this one thing alone, you can eliminate 99% of the people in this world," Liu Tianxian added.
This man often faced temptation; she only knew of two instances — one was Jiang Jianzhu, one was Nazha, blatant temptations. Even Jing Tian liked him.
Back then at Harper's Bazaar, Liu Tianxian had already read Jing Tian's expression — that girl showed everything on her face.
But Fang Hong remained unmoved, as if he hadn't heard a thing.
Actually there was also Fan Xiaopang, but Liu Tianxian didn't know, and Fang Hong had never mentioned it.
And facing the pressure from Wanda and Tencent, Fang Hong chose to endure and not erupt; the targets he struck were always only enemies within the entertainment circle.
His enemies had never changed from the start — they were old-school powers like Huayi and Bona.
As for work, there was even less to say — as long as he wasn't filming, he was basically working, never stopping. Others were traveling and relaxing, while he was working.
Sometimes Liu Tianxian tried to drag him out shopping or to the movies, but he always refused and chose to work.
The two of them only went out in Paris once, and that was her dragging him by force.
"I didn't expect I was so tall and mighty in your eyes!" Fang Hong looked down at her.
"You bet!" Liu Tianxian raised an eyebrow.
"Are we flattering each other here? Praising each other back and forth?" Fang Hong said.
"Hehehe, I wasn't flattering you — I was stating facts. Was what you just said about me being your moonlight a flattery?" Liu Tianxian teased.
"No, I was also stating facts."
The two exchanged a smile. Fang Hong lowered his head to kiss her, and Liu Tianxian puckered her lips to meet him.
Fang Hong didn't kiss deeply; he whispered by her ear: "Can I grab you?"
"You can try," Liu Tianxian agreed.
The two were bound to take that step eventually — there was nothing to shy away from, and she appeared quite composed.
Fang Hong slipped his hand in from under the hem of her clothes, moving up from her delicate belly.
"Hey, through the clothes — I'm afraid I'll overreact. Let me adjust," Liu Tianxian grabbed his hand.
"Okay!" Fang Hong nodded.
"You come from behind, don't look at me." Liu Tianxian was afraid her expression would look ugly.
The two adjusted their positions. Fang Hong stood behind her, both arms reaching through from under her armpits: "Ready?"
Liu Tianxian took a deep breath to steady herself, then closed her eyes, her expression solemn, and gave a slight nod.
"These are Dragon Claw Hands — bear with me a bit," Fang Hong said from behind her.
Liu Tianxian let out a "pfft" and laughed out loud: "Stop teasing me, will you? It was supposed to be serious."
"Relax — everyone else enjoys this, and you're acting like we're going into battle," Fang Hong said.
Liu Tianxian nodded, closed her eyes again, and her body relaxed a little.
Getting the go-ahead, Fang Hong's two hands grabbed up at once. Through the fabric, the feel wasn't great.
But it was still very soft.
Liu Tianxian suddenly tensed up, her features scrunching together as if bearing pressure; her mind flashed through memories like a revolving lantern.
Still, she steadied herself.
Fang Hong glanced at her expression and let go: "How was it?"
Liu Tianxian softly let out a "whoosh" of breath: "It's okay."
"Did I hurt you?" Fang Hong asked again.
"You really think your hands are Dragon Claw Hands!" Liu Tianxian laughed.
"Look if my hands are Dragon Claw Hands." Fang Hong tickled toward her armpits.
"Hehehe!" Liu Tianxian ran off.
