Chapter 581: A Surge of People
Every year the country holds all kinds of film symposiums and meetings, both national and provincial.
This year is no different, and those attending include not only the provincial literary federations, the Film Association, and some veteran artists, but also all sorts of stars from the film industry.
Famous names like Guoji Zhang, Fang Long, and Fan Xiaopang were all in attendance.
Given her status and position, Liu Tianxian had never attended such a meeting before; seeing that the film was a huge hit, they invited her to a seminar.
To study and discuss why this film had been so successful.
Liu Tianxian's standing was there now, she just lacked authoritative recognition.
When Fang Hong mentioned this to Liu Tianxian, it was just casual talk; if she could break into that circle, it would still be a good thing.
In March, although the weather in Beijing was showing signs of warming, there was still a chill in the air.
At Jingcheng International Airport, Liu Tianxian was dressed up tightly, wearing a baseball cap, oversized sunglasses, a navy-blue printed coat, and a belt tied at the waist like a green robe.
If you didn't look carefully, you wouldn't recognize her, but that outstanding temperament and noble air couldn't be hidden.
"Going abroad and coming back, it feels different somehow!" Liu Tianxian hooked her arm through Fang Hong's, chatting and laughing as she walked, striding with a swagger, clearly in a great mood.
Fang Hong was also dressed up tightly, dragging the luggage, wearing sunglasses and a mask; although he hadn't really appeared on camera for many years, as Liu Tianxian's man, plenty of people still recognized him.
And it was right when the two of them were at the peak of their fame.
"What's different? Become an international superstar, getting a big head!" he said.
"Hehehe, yes, floating up to the sky." Liu Tianxian raised her hand and made a floating gesture.
She just felt that going from home to abroad, and then from abroad back home, the scenery, the feeling of the local people and customs, was different.
"Hey, did you tell Mom we're back?" Fang Hong asked.
"Which mom, yours or mine?"
"Your mom, my mom, aren't they all the same?" Fang Hong said.
"No, I thought you'd be the one to say it. I only notified my Assistant and bodyguards, nothing else." Liu Tianxian said.
"I didn't notify anyone either, I thought you'd do it." Fang Hong was equally unbothered.
"Hey, how can you be so careless?" Liu Tianxian gave him a light smack.
"You used to be the one who always notified them." Fang Hong said.
"I've been so busy I could die, when would I have time to think about that, I forgot." Liu Tianxian said.
"If we didn't notify them, then we didn't, we're back anyway."
"."
Liu Tianxian was just about to say something when she heard the airport hall getting very noisy and chaotic, as if someone was calling her name.
She looked closely and saw a group of people suddenly pouring out of the airport hall; they immediately held up her movie posters and portraits, and unfurled banners with her name on them, running toward her.
It was as if these people had already been waiting here for her.
"Did you arrange for fans to meet you at the airport?" Fang Hong was surprised.
"No, I never ask fans to do this kind of thing. I didn't notify any fan groups when I came back, it was a secret return." Liu Tianxian was also stunned, very puzzled—how could so many people suddenly be here?
The two exchanged a glance, no time to think, and were quickly surrounded by the crowd. Fang Hong immediately turned into a bodyguard, spreading his arms to shield her in front of him.
Luckily there were railings on both sides that could block them somewhat, though they were holding up the people behind them who were getting off planes and leaving the airport.
The place suddenly erupted with shouts of "Liu Tianxian! Xixi!"—men and women alike, each one extremely excited, some even trying to climb over the railings.
More and more people kept surging over, phones in hand, also going crazy; clearly there was more than one group.
In an instant, stars, travelers, fans, and security personnel were all jammed together, the scene in chaos.
And Liu Tianxian's image and temperament stood out—even though she was disguised so thoroughly no one could recognize her, just by that aura and figure, her die-hard fans could still pick her out; she was still the focus.
Some fans truly loved her to the bone; they didn't need to see her face, just her silhouette was enough.
"Ahhhh!"
"Tianxian! Xixi!"
"."
The scene was full of shouting and screaming, terribly chaotic; if you didn't listen carefully, you couldn't make out what they were yelling, and the whole place had turned into a mess, with people packed so tight they were crushing into each other.
Some people were even jumping up and down, just to catch a glimpse of their idol.
And there were plenty of reporters lying in wait, pushing and shoving through the crowd trying to press forward, but they just couldn't squeeze in—mainly because they couldn't outrun the fans.
The commotion here also drew sidelong glances from passersby who didn't know what was going on—who was making such a big scene?
"Who is she! What has she contributed to society?" a young woman, seeing such a big fuss, looked disdainful.
"Liu Tianxian!" someone answered.
"Ahhh! Liu Tianxian!" The young woman immediately changed her expression, transforming into a member of the star-chasing horde, joining the army of fans.
Not just this young woman—those who hadn't known what was going on were all shocked when they heard, and they found a high vantage point to look toward Liu Tianxian's location.
That spot had been surrounded by the crowd in layer upon layer, already very difficult to squeeze into.
Of course, more people held up their phones high, filming the scene, mainly filming Liu Tianxian—smartphones were already very common now.
If you looked down at the airport hall from high above, it was all heads—at least a thousand people—going wild, shouting at the top of their lungs.
It seemed Liu Tianxian was truly, hugely popular—red-hot, a phenomenon unto herself.
"Don't push, don't push." Fang Hong used his body to forcefully hold back the crowd, stopping them from pressing inward.
Fans were pawing all over him, he didn't know what there was to touch, some even grabbing. "Everyone, please calm down, be rational." Liu Tianxian, behind him, did her best to soothe them.
At the same time she was anxious inside—she had called for bodyguards, why hadn't they arrived?
"Please pursue your idols rationally, do not disrupt public order, pay attention to safety, and do not cause a stampede." This was the voice of the airport announcement.
But the announcement wasn't very effective—those chasing stars kept chasing, those gathering kept gathering.
"Make way, make way!" Soon some police officers in uniform arrived in a group, forming a human wall to split the fans into two sides.
They forcibly carved out a path.
The excited fans on the scene were quickly calmed by the imposing presence of the "uncles" — looks like the uncles still carry quite a deterrent effect.
Liu Tianxian and Fang Hong, along with the people coming out behind them, just walked out through the cleared path; if they didn't leave now, it really would disrupt the order.
Of course, fans on both sides were still stretching out their hands trying to grab Liu Tianxian, but more of the fans had come to their senses — just filming, not joining in.
This time Liu Tianxian walked in front, waving to both sides every now and then.
Fang Hong, meanwhile, dragged the luggage along behind.
The two walked silently out of the airport hall, trying not to cause any more trouble; those fans still followed, filming as they walked, unrelenting.
Just as they stepped out of the airport hall, a black business vehicle pulled up in front of them.
The little assistant and a tall, imposing bodyguard in a suit hopped down from the car; each did their part — the little assistant took over the luggage from Fang Hong's hands.
The bodyguard flanked Liu Tianxian, doing his best to keep the fans from getting close.
Liu Tianxian and Fang Hong got straight into that business vehicle. After getting in, Liu Tianxian sat on the outer side and waved to the outside once more, then closed the car door.
Even though she was unhappy about her whereabouts being exposed this time, she still kept her composure and didn't get angry with the fans.
Watching the black business vehicle drive off, the fans began to gradually disperse — catching a glimpse of their idol was satisfying enough.
"How was it? Did you get the shot?" someone shared the video of Liu Tianxian they had filmed.
"Got it — her walking posture is so cool." Another person showed off their phone, having filmed Liu Tianxian's movements here the whole way through.
Even without showing her face, it still thrilled them.
"The person next to her must be the Principal, right? Just seeing him makes me sick." A fan complained.
"Exactly — Liu Tianxian should break up with him already."
Looks like Liu Tianxian's devoted fans still hold a strong bias against the Principal.
It's normal — no one likes their goddess having a man; every time they think of it, their heart aches as if pricked by a needle.
Even knowing this man is good and helpful to Liu Tianxian, they still don't want her to be with a man — it's an extreme mindset.
Jingcheng Airport quickly returned to calm under the police's maintenance; only the reporters were left regretful, having failed to get an interview.
But they had their news material: "Liu Tianxian and the Principal Spotted at Jingcheng International Airport."
"Liu Tianxian Returns Home, Surrounded by Fans."
News like this had already appeared on the news feeds, and with high popularity — what can you do, she's just that famous!
In the car, Liu Tianxian took off her mask and sunglasses and asked, "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine — feels like I just got grabbed." Fang Hong pressed a hand to his chest.
"Let me see." Liu Tianxian lifted up his shirt from the hem and saw red scratch marks on the skin of his chest.
It pained her; she gently touched it with her hand.
"Hiss—" Fang Hong sucked in a cold breath.
Liu Tianxian immediately pulled her hand back, her heart aching terribly, her face full of heartache as she asked, "Does it hurt a lot?"
"Of course it hurts," Fang Hong said.
"I'll put some medicine on it when we get back," Liu Tianxian said softly.
"It's nothing — your fans are just too brave." Fang Hong lowered his shirt; with so many people just now, some contact was unavoidable.
"I don't know how they got here or how they knew — even if someone at the airport recognized me, at most they'd take a photo from far away and say hello, not be this fanatical." Liu Tianxian found it very strange.
Without deliberate organization, it would be hard for fans to gather on such a scale.
The bodyguard sitting in the front passenger seat listened to their conversation, his heart lifting, his expression turning grave.
"Let's not talk about this for now!" Fang Hong waved his hand.
"What? Why shouldn't we talk about it?" Liu Tianxian was very puzzled.
"Maybe it's just a coincidence — you can't say for sure." Fang Hong found an excuse.
"Oh!" Liu Tianxian gave him a serious look.
Seeing the two of them no longer pursuing the topic, the bodyguard in front relaxed his tense heart, and his face loosened up too.
Looks like there shouldn't be any problem.
The rest of the ride passed in silence, and the two soon arrived at Fang Hong's home, where Xu Liyun was there to welcome them.
"Oh my, why didn't you give us a heads-up before coming back?" Xu Liyun saw the two of them, hurried over a few steps, and helped take the luggage.
"Too many things going on — forgot for the moment." Liu Tianxian briefly explained.
