Chapter 18: Basement Completed

Until sunset, Liu Li's Four Brothers had basically cleaned up the ruins of the Mao Cao Wu and made a brief plan for the new Mao Cao Wu.

Liu Li's Four Brothers didn't intend to finish their meal in Li Xuan's Courtyard, so Li Xuan took out several Large Rye Breads and handed them to the Liu Li men as dinner.

After seeing Liu Li off, Bai Wen returned with the cart loaded with blue bricks.

"Xuan Ge'er, three hundred bricks and one Large Rye Bread, does that work?" Bai Wen said after entering the Courtyard, wiping the sweat from his face and asking Li Xuan.

"Of course, for the next few days I'll trouble you, Bai Wen, here's your reward." Li Xuan said, then took out two pork floss breads and handed them to Bai Wen, and then went to unload the bricks from the cart and pile them in the corner.

"Thanks, Xuan Ge'er!" Bai Wen didn't bother with the rest, scooped a handful of water from the lotus jar, and ate it together with the bread.

After a while, after Bai Wen finished eating, Li Xuan also moved the roughly two hundred bricks to the corner.

"Xuan Ge'er, I'm heading back now; I'll come tomorrow to move bricks!" Bai Wen bowed to Li Xuan and then left Li Xuan's Courtyard on his own.

After watching Bai Wen leave, Li Xuan found a corner, opened the marketplace, bought a boxed meal and mineral water, and ate and drank.

After eating and drinking his fill, Li Xuan spread some Mao Cao Wu beneath himself and prepared to sleep.

But it was midsummer, so sleeping outdoors for a night was fine.

……

Noon on the third day.

Li Xuan handed the last few Flower Seedlings to Bai Wen.

"Bai Wen, these Flower Seedlings are the last ones; the final batch of seeds we need to cultivate this year has already been delivered," Li Xuan said with a smile to Bai Wen.

"Don't worry, Xuan Ge'er, they'll be delivered safely!" Bai Wen smiled at Li Xuan, then pushed the cart and left Li Xuan's Courtyard.

Li Xuan tidied the vessels used to cultivate Flower Seedlings in the Courtyard, then went down to the basement.

"Xuan Ge'er, the basement will be roofed today, then we'll go to the Mao Cao Wu; the four of us can finish the Mao Cao Wu in a day," Liu Li said, smiling as he hurried to Li Xuan's side after seeing Li Xuan arrive at the basement.

"These days have been hard on you, Uncle Liu," Li Xuan said with a smile to Liu Li.

"Not hard at all, I'm going to work now," Liu Li said and went to work.

Seeing nothing suitable for himself here, Li Xuan returned to the surface.

Now the Flower Slaves' Flower Seedlings have all been cultivated, but Li Xuan's own seedlings for reporting are still uncultivated. With nothing else to do, Li Xuan took a bag of Seeds from a Void Pearl, selected some of modest use yet still precious, and cultivated them, which would yield new seeds after cultivation.

Thus, Li Xuan stayed busy until sunset, placing all one hundred Seeds from his hand into the cultivation vessels, then went to the backyard to cut a branch of Dark Realm Ghost Orchid and planted it in a Flower Pot.

These are seeds of special interest to Ju Douluo, and Li Xuan cannot show the backyard's century-old Dark Realm Ghost Orchid to Ju Douluo; Ju Douluo would surely find a way to extract his secrets.

At that moment, Liu Li came up from underground and stood before Li Xuan.

"Xuan Ge'er, the basement is finished; after a day or two of ventilation it will be livable," Liu Li said with a smile to Li Xuan.

"Got it, thanks Uncle Liu, here's today's dinner and tomorrow's breakfast for you," Li Xuan said, taking a bag filled with Large Rye Breads from beside and handing it to Liu Li.

Liu Li politely thanked Li Xuan and then left Li Xuan's Courtyard.

As for Bai Wen, after delivering the last batch of Flower Seedlings, Li Xuan gave him half a day's leave to go rest.

At this time, Li Xuan's Courtyard was unusually flat, showing no sign of any irregularity on the surface.

Li Xuan's basement lies more than three meters underground, covered by a layer of earth that is invisible from the outside. He found a hidden small door, opened it, and descended the steps.

At the same time, raising his hand, a golden Burning Heart Divine Flame fireball appeared in Li Xuan's palm.

In an instant, the area was illuminated.

He walked to the end of the steps and entered the basement.

The basement covers just over sixty square meters, three meters high, with four columns in the middle supporting the ceiling.

In the center of the basement is a table surrounded by two chairs; though the table and chairs are somewhat shabby, Li Xuan paid a high price to buy them from others.

One wall bears a large wooden board, with a few pieces of black charcoal placed beside it.

Li Xuan moved the table and chairs aside, thrust both hands forward, and fierce flames burst out, scorching the wall.

The moisture in the surrounding walls evaporated rapidly, and the high temperature tightened the wall connections.

Soon the floor, ceiling, and all four walls were completely dried, and the room became warmly cozy.

Li Xuan suddenly thought of something and ran out of the basement.

He grabbed a large Flower Pot, filled it with some soil, watered it, and transplanted the backyard's Starfire Vine into the pot.

Li Xuan hadn't imagined that the Starfire Vine could one day serve as a daylight lamp.

Carrying the Flower Pot back to the basement, Li Xuan took out a small green bottle, diluted it with a clay jar, and poured it all over the Starfire Vine.

The newly sprouted Starfire Vine instantly grew into a ten‑meter‑long thick vine, bearing a dozen or so yellow fruits resembling tomatoes.

As the Starfire Vine absorbed surrounding soul power, the yellow fruits gradually emitted a soft glow.

A few minutes later the entire basement shone like daylight! "A century‑old Starfire Vine provides enough light," Li Xuan said with a smile, then took some dried Mao Cao Wu from the Courtyard and lay in a corner of the basement.

"System, calculate my points," Li Xuan said to the system.

【Activating today's point settlement…】

【soul power level 16, earned 16 points!】

【Secondary profession "Herbal Farmer" level 4, earned 4 points!】

【…】

【No other bonus items detected… no additional points, total 20 points】

"Secondary profession levels also add points; looks like I need to find fast‑growing plants to grind the secondary profession level, though I don't know when I'll get a second secondary profession," Li Xuan said, curling his lip.

Then, he took three Void Pearls from his pocket.

During these days Li Xuan had nothing urgent to cultivate, so he gave all the Green Spirit Liquid to Kongming Grass, producing three Void Pearls, and his storage space increased a bit.

Including the Void Pearl he originally carried, Li Xuan now has four Void Pearls.

Li Xuan wove a grass rope from Mao Cao Wu, threaded the four Void Pearls into it, and tied it around his wrist.

He yawned, lay on the Mao Cao Wu pile, and fell asleep shortly after.

Dear readers, thank you for your hard work on Monday; may you be happy every day (End of chapter).
