Chapter 30: Lin Mo's Secret

~7 min read 1,326 words

Li Xuan arrived at the gate, lightly knocked twice, and then stood at the doorway waiting.

A few minutes later, the Supervisor's Mansion gate slowly opened; as soon as a crack appeared, Lin Mo squeezed out through it, bent over to Li Xuan's side, and with a flattering smile performed a bow to Li Xuan.

"Xuan Ge'er, you must have missed me terribly; if you don't come soon, I'll have to go to the North District to fetch you!" Lin Mo's tone was equally full of flattery, even more so than the action! Li Xuan, looking at Jin's expression, said nothing, after all this wasn't a good thing.

As the gate fully opened, a dozen or so people dressed as servants streamed out in single file; they were both men and women, and then stood on both sides of the gate, bowing simultaneously to Li Xuan.

"Welcome home, master!" all the servants said in unison.

Li Xuan was startled; he had only seen such a scene in TV dramas, and now, experiencing it firsthand, it was truly shocking.

"Everyone, get up, Lin Mo big brother, it's getting late, first arrange a place for me to stay. I've been struggling all day and I'm exhausted; I'll take a nap first, and we can discuss the rest tomorrow," Li Xuan said, yawning, to Lin Mo.

"Of course that's no problem at all, Xuan Ge'er; from now on this will be your territory. Whatever you want, I, your brother, will definitely arrange for you!" Lin Mo patted his chest and assured Li Xuan.

"Come, Xuan Ge'er, I'll personally take you to your bedroom!" Lin Mo said, spreading his hands and making a beckoning gesture toward Li Xuan, then trotted ahead toward the back garden.

Although it was already late, the moon was bright and the West District lights shone everywhere, so Li Xuan could see the road beneath his feet by the moonlight and the lamps.

Even though Li Xuan was very sleepy, he carefully memorized the path here step by step.

Thus, Li Xuan followed behind Lin Mo for about ten minutes before finally stopping.

In front of them stood a three‑story wooden pavilion with carved beams and painted eaves, entirely built from stacked timber; each log bore a different pattern, an epitome of extravagance.

Suddenly, Li Xuan smelled a faint fragrance.

"Is this brown‑veined sandalwood?" Li Xuan suddenly widened his eyes and, incredulously, asked Lin Mo.

This type of wood had appeared in Li Xuan's herbal farming knowledge, so upon smelling it he recognized it; it is highly prized and extremely scarce, even the Xingluo and Tiandou royal families rarely use it, and on the market its price is roughly equivalent to gold.

Normally this wood is used for furniture, and Li Xuan hadn't expected anyone in the Flower Sea to be so extravagant as to build a house with it.

The utterly wicked slave master.

"Xuan Ge'er, from now on this will be your private Domain; I won't intrude further, I shall take my leave," Lin Mo pointed at the wooden pavilion, then respectfully bowed again to Li Xuan.

"Thank you, Lin Mo big brother," Li Xuan replied with a smile, looking at Lin Mo.

After hearing Li Xuan's words, Lin Mo straightened up, stepped back two paces, and then turned and left.

Li Xuan watched Lin Mo turn and leave, a hint of Killing Intent flashing in his eyes as he stared coldly at Lin Mo's back.

Li Xuan's former self was killed by Lin Mo; regardless, Li Xuan intends to avenge that former self by killing Lin Mo, but the current circumstances don't permit it—otherwise Li Xuan would have already used a Burning Heart Seal to incinerate Lin Mo.

However, Li Xuan was still worried about another matter.

Lin Mo's attitude had changed too completely; Li Xuan could not possibly believe that Lin Mo would bow to this child he could easily bully.

The most likely explanation is that Ju Douluo gave Lin Mo a mission, leading to this attitude toward him.

And Ju Douluo's attitude toward him is understandable; after all, finding a Flower Slave capable of cultivating the rare Seven-Dragon Sky Chrysanthemum is quite difficult.

Given how much Ju Douluo values the Seven-Dragon Sky Chrysanthemum, any kindness toward Li Xuan is acceptable.

Li Xuan thought it over and still decided to find a way to investigate Lin Mo's secret. He steadied his mind, went to the bedside, used a blanket to disguise himself as if sleeping under it, then opened the window and leapt out of his room.

Although it was night, the West District was brightly lit; using the surrounding lamps and moonlight, Li Xuan could see the roads around him.

He confirmed the direction, then began wandering through the Supervisor's Mansion along the route he remembered.

Li Xuan was young, light‑bodied, and bolstered by soul power, moving through the Supervisor's Mansion like a spirit cat, unnoticed by anyone.

However, it didn't take Li Xuan long; he eventually found Lin Mo's residence.

Lin Mo must have chosen the place for easy surveillance, as his dwelling was only a wall away from Li Xuan's.

Li Xuan went to the rooftop, cautiously observing Lin Mo, and took a leaf of Dark Realm Ghost Orchid from the Void Pearl.

The Dark Realm Ghost Orchid contains extremely heavy yin energy; when burned, its smoke is hallucinogenic and its effect is superb!

Therefore, Li Xuan always kept a leaf of Dark Realm Ghost Orchid in his Void Pearl.

But at that moment, Lin Mo suddenly rose from the bed, and Li Xuan hurriedly slipped the leaf into his pocket.

"What is this guy doing up in the middle of the night!" Li Xuan muttered irritably.

Li Xuan had been wandering the Supervisor's Mansion for a while; it was now early morning, and he still couldn't understand why Lin Mo got up at such an hour.

Lin Mo tiptoed to Li Xuan's window, and through the glass faintly saw Li Xuan's blanket disguise on the bed, nodding.

"Kids just sleep a lot; I, the young master, should also enjoy the West District supervisor's privileges," Lin Mo smiled faintly, then muttered to himself.

Unbeknownst to him, Lin Mo's words entered Li Xuan's ears word for word.

Then Lin Mo turned and walked toward the back courtyard of the Supervisor's Mansion.

Li Xuan silently followed behind Lin Mo, tiptoeing carefully toward the Supervisor's Mansion.

After walking for a few minutes, Lin Mo entered a small house.

Li Xuan hesitated briefly, then leapt onto the rooftop.

"Ah, little darling, you must have missed me!" Lin Mo's voice came from the room.

Li Xuan helplessly covered his forehead, thinking, "What a supreme specimen..."

However, Lin Mo's strength was somewhat lacking; the fight lasted only a few dozen seconds.

Then Lin Mo prepared to embrace the woman in his arms and go to sleep.

But Li Xuan, perched on the rooftop, gave a sinister smile.

He extended his left hand, gave a gentle twist, and a bean‑sized ball of Burning Heart Divine Flame appeared in his palm.

The Burning Heart Divine Flame can manipulate emotions and naturally arouse desire.

Li Xuan waved lightly, and the Burning Heart Divine Flame slipped through the window into Lin Mo's body; then Lin Mo, eyes reddening, began to cultivate again.

Li Xuan, of course, didn't want to soil his own eyes and ears, so he shifted his form and ran toward the distance, also wanting to gauge just how large this Supervisor's Mansion truly was! Dear readers, I apologize to you all; I was embarrassed to skip updates yesterday, I worked hard, this chapter went through three drafts, six to seven thousand words, I studied it until half past one, couldn't decide how to write it, after work I kept researching how to write it, finally finished it.
