Chapter 298: Various Departments

Various Departments

Various Departments

Umbrella is composed of many departments, extending in all directions.

Putting aside civilian departments that don't involve core or confidential matters—such as digital, entertainment, media, freight and mining—even the toothpaste of many supermarket brands includes the red‑and‑white umbrella pattern "Umbrella Clean Teeth Toothpaste".

The remaining departments can be divided into research and armed divisions.

The research departments are mainly based on Earth;

1. The Sixth Research Institute, the Paris Research Center, and the Mother Nest form a three‑party joint team, overseen by Wang Zhaofeng, who is in charge of the Mother Nest.

Normally they do not interfere with each other and compete, but they are currently collaborating on the technology of manager memory storage.

2. The Peru Research Center, headed by William BoKen, with deputy heads Annie BoKen (BoKen's wife) and Zigler Kaichi.

They are presently using nanotechnology to gradually extend the maximum lifespan of the human body.

3. Luna Base.

Situated on the northern side of the Moon, Luna Base is rather special, functioning as Umbrella's internal employee colony, handling Astate's G‑gland implantation surgeries and pre‑adult modification procedures, and annually delivering a steady stream of reserves to the human territories.

It is overseen by Rebecca and Alekxia.

Moreover, these two elders, for the OriginalBody and the orphaned Astates, are the only relatives besides Sui Bian who share no blood ties.

After all, they also teach these Astates lacking fatherly and motherly love how to be human.

Armed Departments;

1. Intelligence Department.

2. Regulation Department.

3. Ghost Operatives (known to few within the company, directly answer to Sui Bian, secretly monitoring everything).

4. Gray Knights (known to few within the company, directly answer to Sui Bian, and handle support requests for demonic incidents).

5. Krig.

6. Ten Legions.

Intelligence Department;

It has field agents, dedicated technical staff, civilian personnel, and an emergency team responsible for "Fire Merge".

Equivalent to the CIA, kgb, or other intelligence agencies.

Field agents still operate under concealed identities, blending into crowds.

Currently there are named individuals, such as the border‑fortress sector supervisor Aya Buleiya.

The head of Earth's Intelligence Department is the "Undying Old Man" Pulaise, and there is also a Special Task Force.

Regulation Department;

Its nature is similar to the Intelligence Department, with comparable staffing, but it is dedicated to investigating alternate dimensions and demons.

When Leon handled the border‑fortress sector incident this time, he did not request the Regulation Department's "Fire Merge" combat team, namely the "Spicy Man" and Stalker "Jia Meng" combat squad.

This combat squad's nature is similar to the previously mentioned Intelligence Department "Emergency Team", both being hand‑picked elites, even including Celts, a few Iron‑bloods, and ruthless members of the Elite Clan, though they have not yet been revealed in the text.

Representative figures are Leon and Ada.

Krig;

It is responsible for ground defense of each colony, usually coordinating with UNSC divisions, but remains mysterious to both UNSC and society; its mystery even drives military enthusiasts crazier than the Astates themselves after the Astates were revealed.

Ten Legions;

The Ten Legions are humanity's elite, possessing Astates, legion auxiliary forces, and OriginalBody.

The Third Legion, where Sui Bian serves, the Dark Angel Legion, currently has the greatest combat power, after all he is present.

At present each legion fields about 40–50 warships, with personnel numbering 600,000 to 800,000.

Each legion has varying numbers of HellParatroopers, mortal auxiliary troops, and "Special Forces" assembled according to OriginalBody preferences.

——

Police and Sheriffs.

On Earth, the police structure is retained, a form unique to Earth.

In the colonies, they are sheriffs.

This explains why there is a "Sheriff Rebellion" in Akedia, while Leon, dining in New York and inadvertently flirting, encounters police.

Fire, municipal, medical, and emergency services are almost identical between colonies and Earth, though some colonies may have slightly special arrangements.

UNSC.

Overall it matches the modern military organization we know.

Navy, ground forces, air force, Marine Corps, and Special Command.

Among them, navy, air, and Marine units are mixed together; the army handles ground defense on Earth and colonies; the Special Command is directly under UNSC command and usually deployed on naval vessels.

The elite UNSC airborne troops, technically army units, are stationed on naval ships to serve as HellParatroopers.

Total warships: about 12,000 (including many refurbished Covenant warships, making up 20% of the total).

Total personnel: roughly 3 billion (with many elites already enlisted).

Currently, many of the UNSC field‑grade officers hail from Umbrella's Minos Island.

UNSC generals are also selected reasonably from the Red and White queens.

These generals and the Minos Island field‑grade officers fully understand Sui Bian's role as "the ruler", including the admirals Carter and Hood who have appeared before.

The Red and White queens often select the most elite, most suitable soldiers from UNSC and transfer them to the Legions, Regulation Department, and Intelligence Department.
