Chapter 100: Worlds Apart
The rebels panicked!
Because an invisible enemy was present, they were slaughtering indiscriminately.
After a large-caliber bullet pierced the body, it even detonated a second time, turning the entire camp into a rain of blood.
Fresh blood splattered everywhere, and the ground was littered with severed limbs, debris, chunks of flesh, and entrails.
One rebel, only caring about escaping, slipped, threw his head back and fell, sitting on the ground.
He tried to struggle to stand, but felt something soft and warm beneath his butt, and his palms on the ground felt sticky.
By the faint firelight, he realized his hands were drenched in blood, and he was sitting on a pile of entrails and flesh.
"Ah! Ah!" The rebel screamed, rolling and crawling in terror.
"Bzz—!" a sound ripped through the air.
A retractable war spear, cloaked in Optical Camouflage, lunged at the rebel at breakneck speed.
"Psshh—!" The spear pierced straight through the rebel's skull.
Then, still propelled, the spear carried the rebel's corpse more than ten meters before embedding itself in the ground.
"Clack clack clack!"
"Ah! Come out! Show some courage, come out!"
"You pretentious ghost! Come out!"
Around the central campfire, more than ten rebels formed a circle, their muzzles firing wildly outward.
They roared.
They shrieked.
As if this could boost their courage, or perhaps curse the hidden Astate to death.
"As you wish (in Swahili)."
Yet a response echoed into the rebels' ears.
Looking toward the sound, they saw Robert, who had deactivated his Optical Camouflage, standing not far to the east of the rebels.
!!
"Clack clack clack!" The Soviet-made rifle unleashed full fire.
"Ding~! Ding!"
The 7.62mm projectile that could tear a human apart only made the nano combat suit tinkle.
Penetrate?
Impossible.
Not even a scratch was left.
"Ka! Ka!" The magazine clicked empty.
Robert still stood there, motionless.
Even while under attack, he calmly slung his heavy pulse machine gun to his back, drew a retractable boomerang with his left hand, and unfolded an extended double‑edged wrist blade with his right.
When the rebels' magazines ran empty, Robert stepped forward slowly and said in a deep voice, "Now it's my turn."
!!!
Run!
That was the rebels' first reaction.
Seeing this, Robert gave a little extra force and hurled the boomerang.
"Whoosh~—Puff—Puff—!"
The boomerang unfurled its slender blade, thrust upward, piercing several rebels, then circled back to Robert's left hand.
He flicked off the remaining blood, retracted the blade, and placed the disc‑shaped boomerang onto the side‑waist absorber.
The pierced rebels froze, then, under the terrified gazes of the others, split left and right, collapsing into two limp halves on the ground.
"Dong, dong!" At this moment Robert quickened his pace, rapidly closing the gap to the remaining rebels.
Then, at a blade‑swing speed too fast for the naked eye, he cut down the remaining rebels without hesitation.
The sharpness of Umbrella's wrist blade, boomerang, and war spear ranks just below the original Iron‑Blood clan's, since Earth lacks the original manufacturing materials.
Thus, the rebels slain by the wrist blade only recall its cold glint at death, followed by endless darkness.
"Splat~!" Robert flung the blood from his wrist blade onto the ground.
Inside his helmet, he stared expressionlessly at the corpses on the ground.
After Sui Bian's instruction and his own experience, Robert's will grew ever firmer.
He still had emotions worth describing.
The adrenaline‑fueled excitement lingered, refusing to subside.
The inner fury was released, allowing Robert to regain his composure,
but it taught him a lesson, for rage clouds judgment; when he returns, he'll share this experience with his brothers.
As for the scattered debris and severed arms, they won't affect him and his brothers much.
During training at the nest under Hank and Alpha, Astate had already fought zombies, Zombie Dogs, and Lickers in real combat.
He retracted the extended wrist blade, readied his heavy pulse machine gun again, and calmly said over the comms to Marini:
"Captain Marini, Astate has completed the extermination mission."
"Roger." Marini's voice came through the comm.
Immediately after,
Robert and six other Astate members returned to the warehouse to guard the captives.
Outside the camp, the Charon task force, coordinating with four rogue elite combat squads, began to contract their perimeter, finally entering the now empty camp.
Arrived at the camp.
Seeing the mess everywhere, this refreshed the Carons' view of the Astates.
Marini, Chris, Jill and the other Carons thought that no matter how strong the Astates were, they were only a step ahead of the living dead.
Now, looking at it…
Heavenly Mud Separation.
And the over one hundred Outlaw elites had no idea how to evaluate it.
The Outlaws did not know the Astates' true identity and age, but achieving a one‑against‑fifty victory with zero casualties on their side and annihilating the enemy was enough to make the Outlaws blush.
Of course, the Outlaws thought this was inseparable from the equipment.
They even imagined that if the Outlaws also equipped nanotech suits, their record would definitely be even better!
The Carons and the Outlaws rendezvoused with the Astates.
Next, the Outlaw captain contacted the 13th Half‑Mixed Brigade Base.
Several helicopters were dispatched to first transport the captives to the base for treatment.
At the same time, the Umbrella technicians who had already arrived at the base, along with Alekxia, would ride the helicopters to the camp.
The technicians would be responsible for cleaning, corpse collection, and salvage work.
Although the rebels' bodies had turned to mush, for Umbrella they were still very fresh experimental material.
The plague doctor would surely love this kind of material.
19:41.
"Bzz~."
"Cheep~."
The one‑sided fierce battle had already lasted more than two hours.
The insects' chirping around the camp rose again, and because night had fallen, the sound seemed even louder.
The persecuted captives had been taken away, and the technicians wearing masks and gloves were working in an orderly fashion.
In the center of the camp, the Outlaw captain wearing a red beret said to Marini:
"To be honest, in the past two days the patrol convoy reported sightings of dinosaurs in this rainforest. We didn't pay much attention at first, mainly because we focused all our energy on the rebels.
However, since the superiors ordered us to assist, we have no objections, and hunting dinosaurs sounds quite interesting."
"Thank you for your understanding, Captain."
Marini, pulling up the TPS helmet, thanked the captain, then turned to Alekxia beside him and asked:
"Doctor, how should we search? Do we need B. O. W.'s assistance?"
"No need for those idiots," Alekxia chuckled lightly, "I want my pet to try first."
