Chapter 115: Father's Thoughts Are Unfathomable
Frontline base.
Inside the men's locker room of a barracks.
The employees who have just finished washing are standing in front of their lockers, changing clothes.
At this moment, the Astate, about two meters tall and muscular, wrapped in black bath towels, push through the crowd and reach a row of lockers in the corner to begin changing.
The other company employees continue with their own tasks, paying no mind to the Astate's presence, apparently already accustomed.
After changing into clean black training uniforms, the Astate leave the locker room, casually tossing their bath towels into the recycling bin by the door.
They step into the corridor.
"Robert, do you know where father is taking us?" one brother asks.
After the question, John and the other brothers look toward Robert with expectant faces, hoping their senior brother can answer.
"I don't know either," Robert replies, shaking his head with a sigh.
"Sigh, father's thoughts are truly hard to guess," another brother laments.
"We don't know whether father is happy or sad."
"I really wish father would smile and then lavish us with praise."
"It would be great if it were like 'Happy Family'."
"Hmm," even the usually silent John nods in agreement.
"Alright," at this moment Robert interrupts the brothers' discussion, his tone slightly stern, saying:
"Father's thoughts are not for us to fathom; have you all remembered that?"
"Understood," hearing Robert speak, the group of brothers fall silent and cease discussion.
The Astate silently proceed to the barracks' underground level, entering the tunnel system beneath the base, heading toward the Space Gate's containment area.
After walking a few minutes through the brightly lit, tidy tunnel, the Astate arrive at the containment area built on the surface.
The containment area is on the right side of the Space Gate tunnel.
After Robert's party and the other employees wait a moment, the gate opens, and they pass through a pedestrian tunnel equipped with disinfectant spray and lights.
Reaching the opposite-side containment area at the tunnel's end signifies they have crossed the Space Gate and arrived at the outpost in the Uganda rainforest.
Before leaving the containment area, they must undergo a comprehensive inspection by technicians in protective suits, akin to a stricter "customs" procedure.
This is not a simple overseas trip but a "ball launch," so regarding the probability of species invasion, Umbrella suppresses it to zero percent.
After all, biology is Umbrella's strongest field; not a single error can occur.
After inspection, the technicians approve passage for all personnel, including Robert, John, and the other Astate.
The group exiting the containment area breathes Earth air again; despite the lingering heat, they pay it no mind.
Robert, John, and the others leave the exit and head to the landing pad on the outpost's east side.
A ship named Yuou, its engine running and hatch open, awaits them.
Seeing this, the Astate quicken their steps and run into the cabin.
Once everyone is aboard, the Yuou closes its hatch and slowly lifts off.
After reaching a certain altitude, it accelerates and activates the Optical Camouflage system, disappearing from view.
Inside the cabin.
Sui Bian sits at the far left end of the cabin, near the cockpit door, while Alekxia sits not far to his right.
Both hold tablets only slightly thicker than paper, attending to their respective tasks.
The Astate who enter the cabin approach the two and sit on the seats along both sides of the cabin.
After taking their seats, the cabin falls into a silence.
In fact, Alekxia is conducting a brainstorm, devising how to create a deity exclusive to Umbrella, and will not speak to anyone for a while.
Sui Bian, meanwhile, reviews files and documents compiled by the Red and White Queens.
In two months, the company has only contained three non‑threatening anomalous incidents.
No Nix‑class or higher have been detected, indicating Earth remains relatively peaceful.
However, the number of companies seeking cooperation with Umbrella has risen recently, though their proposed terms always seem like empty promises.
They want Umbrella's technology while hoping to pay as little as possible.
Although many technologies are already outdated for Umbrella, such a loss is absolutely unacceptable, so Sui Bian chooses to skip it.
Lastly, matters concerning nations.
After glancing at two pages of documents compiled by the White Queen, Sui Bian's brow briefly furrows, then quickly returns to normal.
The Americans are trying to cause trouble.
The recent U. S. government has been covertly rallying global corporations, apparently preparing to curb Umbrella in all aspects, and may even be ready to sanction it if the chance arises.
But Sui Bian understands that, given Umbrella's unprecedented scale today, the American attempt to curb it is merely routine.
Yet the interior of the U. S. government and military has been infiltrated by numerous intelligence operatives placed by Sui Bian, not to mention the Red and White Queens, so the American side cannot achieve "united effort."
Nevertheless, Sui Bian knows the White House is acting under pressure from certain families, forced to take such actions.
"It seems time to teach these families a lesson, letting them truly experience restraint," Sui Bian's gaze sharpens.
Having led Umbrella for a long time, he is accustomed to humanity's darkness; since Earth has been relatively peaceful lately, he doesn't mind letting these families experience even darker methods.
And the United Kingdom, France, and Russia, among others.
The United Kingdom's internal issues remain unresolved, posing no real threat.
The dissolution of the Soviet Union has allowed Umbrella to virtually control Eastern Europe from the shadows, Russia included.
France
Umbrella once built its headquarters in Paris for a reason.
Only since Sui Bian took power has Umbrella's headquarters gradually moved to Raccoon City.
"Father." At this moment, Robert, sitting opposite Sui Bian, spoke solemnly:
"If the company encounters any problems, we Astate can also solve them; we already have the ability to share your burden, Father."
?
Sui Bian raised his head.
Looking at Robert's earnest face, then also glancing around at John and the other children who were equally earnest, he couldn't help but ask:
"What do you mean?"
"We only hope you can be happier, Father." Robert said hesitantly, explaining the reason.
After taking off from the Fishing Europe, Sui Bian remained silent, leading the Astate to wonder whether the company had run into trouble or whether he was angry.
Ahem
Understanding his intent, Sui Bian really almost laughed at this group's youthful faces, but instead he put on a solemn expression of willingness to bear pressure for him, which made him want to laugh.
Immediately he hurriedly gave a light cough, his expression returning to calm as he lightly shook his head and said: "You kids are really"
Rest assured, your current task is to study and grow; once you come of age, you will naturally need to contribute for me, for the company, and for all of humanity.
And the place I am taking you to now is related to your coming of age."
