Chapter 123: Crossfire
"Whoosh~! Whoosh!" Dense bullets whizzed past.
"Bang~! Bang!" Fragments sprayed from the wall struck by bullets.
The subway station entrance.
More than ten vampires in trench coats were suppressed by werewolves six times as numerous, or even more.
The streets on both sides of the entrance were blocked, and even the subway platform had many werewolves, completely leaving this group of vampires unable to advance or retreat.
"Click-click! Clack!"
A vampire half-crouched on the right side of the entrance, behind the low wall of the green belt, seeing the magazine empty, immediately ducked back, left hand feeling the trench coat to pull out a new magazine.
"Whoosh! Bang—! Pfft!"
But just then, a large-caliber bullet shot straight through two layers of the low wall, then struck that vampire's abdomen.
"Pfft-splat!" Instantly, flesh and blood flew everywhere, and this vampire's upper and lower body instantly separated.
The 50-caliber armor-piercing bullet is enough to tear through light armor, and is said to be capable even against vampires, who are still flesh and blood.
"Pah!"
But this vampire merely spat out a mouthful of bloody phlegm, hands propping up his upper body against the low wall, gazing at his still-twitching lower half, extremely annoyed, he finished reloading and cursed loudly:
"Damn! It really hurts! All of you go die! You bunch of dog people! Shit!"
"Click-click!"
While cursing, the vampire also extended his right hand, gripping the gun, out from the low wall, firing blindly to vent his anger.
"Whoosh~! Bang—! Pfft-splat!!"
But before that vampire could empty his magazine, he was hit in the head by another armor-piercing bullet.
"Crack!"
The headless half-body swayed, then slumped forward onto the ground, blood continuously gushing from the neck.
However, the werewolves, who had the numerical advantage, also fared poorly.
Only see that the werewolves hit by bullets, their wounds immediately burst into flames, and they also suffer excruciating full-body spasms.
If the heart or head is hit, the werewolf dies instantly.
It appears the bullets used by the vampires can inflict substantive damage on the werewolves.
Moreover, the vampires are well-trained, know how to cooperate in providing cover and suppressing fire, and their shooting accuracy far exceeds that of the werewolves.
Thus, at the outset of the firefight, both sides were in a stalemate, evenly matched.
But as the werewolves employed large-caliber anti-materiel weapons, the vampires began to suffer noticeable casualties.
Furthermore, the vampires' ammunition is about to run out, so their eventual fate will surely be annihilation by this pack of werewolves.
It is clear that the vampires have fallen victim to a well-prepared werewolf ambush.
Suddenly!
"Tick-tick! Tick!" The distinctive crisp report of pulse weapons began to echo down the street.
"Boom! Boom!"
Shell-less rounds of various calibers, upon striking a werewolf's body, instantly produce a low-intensity explosion.
"Pfft!"
Werewolves struck by the shell-less rounds instantly experienced the sensation of being dismembered and blown apart by the bullets.
Correct, Leon said werewolves' physical qualities far surpass humans, but the shell-less pulse ammo produced by Umbrella is even more "brutal."
"Could it be that those creatures of the night have come to reinforce?!"
"Where are the people?! No scent! Can't see anyone!"
"There's firelight! Behind! Behind!"
The sudden situation plunged the werewolves, who had hardly received any military training, into confusion.
Only see that the 141, still in "stealth" mode, began to intervene in this battle whose outcome was already decided.
The TPS Power Armor worn by the 141 is a fully enclosed suit capable of combat in vacuum, low pressure, and high-radiation space environments.
This means the werewolves, with their keen sense of smell, cannot rely on odor to locate the 141; they can only rely on sight to catch the gunfire's muzzle flash to lock onto the 141.
But the 141's combat proficiency far surpasses that of the werewolves and vampires; they naturally can anticipate the werewolves' thoughts.
Immediately, the 141, relying on their equipment's advantage, while running and moving, used the auxiliary targeting system to make precise shots, gradually consuming the werewolves' operational space.
Within half a minute, the werewolves suffered heavy losses, with almost no room left to resist.
Now look at the vampires at the subway entrance.
They, missing limbs and arms, were likewise somewhat dazed.
Really reinforcements?
"My lord, could it be reinforcements sent by another clan?"
Half-crouched at the entrance stairway, a vampire with a severed left arm turned his head downward to ask.
Following his gaze, a female vampire wearing tight leather pants and a trench coat, with black long hair, holding a silver M1911 in her right hand, was protected in the center by the remaining vampires.
"Impossible." The female vampire shook her head in denial: "This ambush is certainly no random event."
"My lord, could it be that other clans have colluded with the werewolves?!" Another vampire exclaimed in realization.
"Otherwise? The werewolves know our return route, and they are fully prepared in terms of weaponry." The female vampire said in a low voice.
"Click-click!" A sudden gunshot interrupted the vampires' discussion.
It turned out that the werewolves besieging the subway platform had already dealt with the seven vampires guarding the rear, and were now advancing from below to attack the remaining six vampires.
"Counterattack!"
"Bang! Bang!"
The female vampire let out a loud shout, then aimed the M1911 at a werewolf and pulled the trigger.
Damn it! Go die, you bastards!
Even if I die, I'll drag a few of you bastards down with me!
Click-click-click!
The other five vampires roared angrily, wildly tilting the silver bullet heads toward the stairwell turn below.
For a moment, the vampires who held the advantageous position temporarily suppressed the werewolves trying to rush up from below.
Taking advantage of the opening, a vampire pulled out two fragmentation grenades.
Ting~
That vampire pulled both pins at once, released the safety, and hurled them toward the stairwell turn.
Two booms sounded as the explosions blasted, and a shockwave came from below.
Also coming through were the werewolves' pained groans, 'ah-uh'.
The silver fragmentation grenades completely broke the werewolves' attack, buying some time for the remaining six vampires.
But before they could feel relief, Pulaise, leading eight members of 141, had already arrived at the subway entrance.
As an 'old immortal,' Pulaise merely glanced at the vampires' positions and deduced that the female vampire was definitely a high-value target.
Thus Pulaise used his helmet screen to mark the target and shared the order with the other eight members of 141: 'Keep the target, shoot the rest.'
Having received the order, the 141 members formed a semicircle around Pulaise at the edge of the entrance, locking onto their respective targets and preparing to pull the trigger.
!!
The vampires, whose hearing was equally sharp, heard the commotion coming from above the stairs.
Now they were certain that the group of 'invisible' soldiers were not reinforcements at all, but intended to eliminate both vampires and werewolves simultaneously!
"We surrender! Don't shoot!"
Having no time to think, the female vampire immediately threw down her M1911 and raised both hands, indicating her willingness to surrender.
