Chapter 135: Altar

~6 min read 1,114 words

"Ta‑ta‑ta!"

"Boom! Boom!"

"Howl…"

Gunfire, explosions, and howls intertwine.

In the darkness.

Robert, John, Kelakesi and two brothers sprint forward, crushing any creature that tries to block them.

Any creature.

Each standard explosive round they fire from their barrels is like a tiny missile, and when it shatters a werewolf's head and heart it detonates violently.

"Puff!" The body bursts.

Soot‑black blood and severed limbs litter the entire corridor.

Like vampires, mutated werewolves whose vital parts are destroyed emit a "sizzle" and finally turn into a pool of foul black water.

Moreover, a werewolf's bodily defense is far inferior to that of scale‑armored vampires; its advantage still lies in sheer numbers.

But…

"Snap! Snap!"

Robert and his group ignore the black water on the ground, stride straight over it without slowing, and continue deeper.

But for OriginalBody, the numbers that come are the numbers that die.

Doing so, however, wastes expensive explosive rounds.

Yet OriginalBody disdain using shoulder cannons or energy wrist blades and other melee weapons to deal with these harmless mutated werewolves.

Press onward.

Robert finds that these mutated werewolves, unlike the earlier mutated vampires, seem to have lost independent thought and frantically try to block them.

Although this suicidal resistance is ineffective against OriginalBody, it makes the helmeted Robert wear a slightly solemn expression as he ponders.

He speculates that the so‑called blood demon granted the werewolves evolution while stripping them of thought and emotion, turning them into the blood demon's puppets.

After all, the previous horde of vampires hesitated when they saw Kelakesi's brutal killing.

It was this hesitation that prevented the vampires from even resisting for half a second, and they were all wiped out by his OriginalBody brothers.

This shows that the blood demon needs genuine puppets to slow down the advance of its OriginalBody…

Thus Robert and his brothers quicken their sprint considerably.

Moreover, OriginalBody disregard the convoluted, maze‑like corridors and passages, opting for the most efficient route.

"Dong~! Boom!"

They smash straight through the stone wall ahead with brute force, carving a direct passage to the castle's core.

Soon.

Robert and his group reach the spacious hall at the castle's very center, and the other five brothers arrive here almost simultaneously.

After converging.

"Robert." A slightly androgynous OriginalBody points its explosive gun at the stone floor: "It should be below."

"Got it."

Robert gives a brief reply, grips his gun with his right hand, frees his left hand from the waist harness, and removes a disc‑shaped object.

He presses the central button and flicks it forward with controlled force.

"Snap~!" The disc lands on the floor ahead.

Then the OriginalBody wait patiently for a few seconds.

"Boom——!" The disc generates a dazzling blue‑light fireball.

In an instant, the stone floor is melted by the fireball, creating a gap about five meters in radius.

When the fireball dissipates, the OriginalBody move forward to the edge of the gap and then jump down one after another.

Through the opening.

Still in free fall, they arrive at a massive underground chamber beneath the castle.

"Dong! Dong!"

Equipped with a thunder‑hammer, they weigh nearly a ton; when they land on the stone slabs below, dust billows and fragments scatter.

The OriginalBody, now standing steady, hold their guns, on guard and scanning the surroundings.

Scanning the area, Robert finds this is a natural cave beneath the castle, with at least a hundred meters between the ceiling and floor.

The area they stand on is the eastern edge of a man‑made stone‑slab plaza, and the whole plaza is vast, about five football fields in size.

Two rows of torches line the plaza's sides, giving some light yet keeping the place dim.

At this moment.

Robert and his brothers look toward the center of the plaza and spot a square altar with steps.

Besides the altar, they also see corpses…

A multitude of corpses.

Nearly a thousand, even over a thousand bodies, piled at the four corners of the altar,

Capital View.

Facing the four piles of towering burial mounds made of corpses, the OriginalBody could think of no other word besides "Capital View" to describe them.

Even without technicians to test and analyze, the OriginalBody can guess that these bodies are human.

Both men and women.

Ages vary.

Over a thousand fellow humans' precious lives were tragically slain, entangled by the selfish desires of vampires and werewolves.

!!!

At the thought of this, boundless fury swiftly filled the OriginalBodies' hearts.

We must make the mastermind pay!

Accompanied by that thought, the OriginalBodies sprinted toward the Altar.

The hundred‑meter distance vanished in an instant; after stepping over the steps, they finally arrived atop the Altar.

Standing at the edge of the Altar, the OriginalBodies saw the target of this operation: the Blood Pool.

As the literal meaning suggests, it was a pool brimming with bright red blood, situated at the very center of the Altar.

On the pristine pool walls, runes incomprehensible to the OriginalBodies were etched.

Moreover, those runes flickered with scarlet light, causing the blood in the pool to emit a red glow as well.

"Wha—la!" At that moment, the Blood Pool began to churn with blood.

Then, a vampire retaining a human form, with normal skin tone and a bare torso, emerged from the Blood Pool.

"Pat—!"

Viscous blood slashed across its body and fell onto the stone slab outside the Blood Pool.

Its appearance was handsome, its build standard, almost indistinguishable from an ordinary human, yet its eyes were filled with eerie red light.

Wei Ke Te·Wen Sen Te.

The Red and White two queens had long, based on clues provided by Alekxia, located all information concerning Wei Ke Te·Wen Sen Te, including its appearance.

However, the one before the OriginalBodies now looked far younger and far sturdier than in the photos, as if reborn.

Wei Ke Te spread their hands toward the OriginalBodies and, in a resonant voice, said: "I— am the Divine‑Chosen— you are about to experience…"

"Ri———!"

Yet the charging sound of the shoulder cannon drowned out Wei Ke Te's mysterious confidence.

At the same time, ten pairs of triangular red dots appeared on its vital spots, as if locked by some laser.

"Siu———!"

Ten plasma cannon clusters, each far larger than a rugby ball and emitting blue radiance, burst forth.

"Pu—!"

Wei Ke Te, still in a flesh‑and‑blood body, was torn apart after the ten cannon clusters bombarded them.

Blood splattered in all directions, chunks of flesh flying.

The OriginalBodies, who could have eliminated the mastermind, had their expressions beneath the helmets become more vigilant and solemn.

Their combat instincts, far beyond ordinary humans', told them the matter was far from simple.
