Chapter 49: Xenomorph

~6 min read 1,115 words

Xenomorph.

The original film "Alien" premiered in 1979 in the world where Sui Bian lives; its title is "Alien", literally "extraterrestrial", while China translated it as "Xenomorph" to better match the film's content.

In "Aliens", the Xenomorph species received its official name, Xenomorph.

Born from a facehugger and a human, the Xenomorph has a jet‑black exoskeleton and slender limbs, a smooth head lacking any eye organs, and a tail tip equipped with a sharp bony spike.

These Xenomorphs are called workers or soldiers, occupying the lower‑mid ranks of the species, comparable to laborers and cannon fodder.

At that moment.

Above the stone pillar that Chris was leaning on, a worker Xenomorph was lurking.

Initially, this worker intended to coordinate with two other of its kind, preparing to seize the moment and launch a surprise attack on Chris and the other humans.

However, Celta and Catface struck the humans first, causing the workers to abort the ambush and communicate covertly via pheromones to revise their plan.

In the end, the workers unanimously decided to let the humans clash with the Iron Blood first, then unexpectedly eliminate both waves.

Suddenly!

Just as Catface, whose Optical Camouflage had been deactivated, was about to extract Chris's spine and skull alive, the hidden worker leapt forcefully from above the stone pillar, spread its claws, and charged straight at Catface.

Catface, focused on Chris, had no idea an Xenomorph was lying in ambush; with a "Thump" sound, the worker Xenomorph slammed Catface to the ground.

Before Catface could react, the worker's mouth was already aimed at Catface's helmet.

"Pfft!"

"Clack!" Fluorescent green blood sprayed everywhere.

The Xenomorph's inner jaw teeth shot out, piercing straight through Catface's mask and skull.

Dead beyond death.

In the film, Catface got a minor role; in reality, however incompetent Catface was, he still exchanged a few blows with Chris, yet could not escape his ultimate fate—

the first to die.

In hindsight, had Catface faced someone other than Chris, he might not have died so quickly.

In a sense, Catface was killed by Chris.

!!

When Chris was mentioned, this guy saw the black worker instantly slay Catface and wore a shocked expression.

Even though he was mentally prepared, witnessing two monsters up close—or rather, anomalous phenomena—still unnerved him greatly.

Without time to think further, a slightly recovered Chris immediately gripped his gun with his right hand, aimed at the nearby worker Xenomorph, and pulled the trigger without hesitation.

"Bang bang bang!"

"Pfft! Pff!" The projectile pierced the exoskeleton and soft tissue.

"Sizzle~sizzle!" The highly acidic blood corroded the ground.

"Howl——!" and the Xenomorph's high‑pitched wail.

The worker Xenomorph's exoskeleton is extremely hard, enough to resist human small‑caliber projectiles; however hard it is, it remains part of its body.

Facing an MA5B loaded with full‑metal armor‑piercing rounds and a very high rate of fire, the worker's only fate is to be blown up by its own bullet.

"…"

Seeing the Xenomorph's blood, as Sui Bian described, being highly acidic, and glancing again at Catface beside the worker Xenomorph's corpse, Chris stood up with a solemn expression.

A few months earlier, he was a "junior" police officer in Raccoon City.

Now, he fights the anomalous phenomena identified by the company.

These anomalies also include aliens…

If he told anyone, they'd treat his experience as a joke; no one would dare believe it.

"Roar————!" A sudden earth‑shattering roar interrupted Chris's melancholy.

He turned his head toward the source of the roar.

He saw Celta, who had already slaughtered the remaining D‑class personnel, now being attacked by two worker Xenomorphs.

The robust Celta was locked in a back‑and‑forth duel with the two Xenomorphs.

When Celta grabbed one Xenomorph's tail and wildly swung it, then kicked the charging Xenomorph away, he happened to see Catface being decapitated by a worker and then Chris killing the worker in retaliation.

Having lost a teammate, Celta was furious and abandoned any thought of toying with the Xenomorphs; he thrust the Xenomorph in his hands with all his might toward a stone wall.

"Pfft——!" A crisp sound rang as the Xenomorph hitting the stone wall exploded outright.

"Sizzle~!" Highly acidic blood splattered everywhere, beginning to corrode all it touched.

"Roar."

Celta let out an irritated growl, glanced at Chris standing nearby, then turned to chase the last worker trying to flee.

Celta wasn't sparing Chris; his primary goal now was to eliminate the Xenomorphs and complete the trial.

Seeing Celta and the worker Xenomorphs vanish from sight, Chris immediately swapped to a fresh magazine and went on guard.

There are three Iron Blood youths, and six D‑class personnel left in the sacrificial chamber, meaning at least six Xenomorphs.

After all, as Sui Bian warned, a dying human wrapped by a facehugger still has a chance to spawn a Xenomorph.

However, Chris noticed no anomaly; though he couldn't locate the third Iron Blood youth, he prepared to continue.

He approached the decapitated Catface corpse, opened his radio and reported: "Bohan Dong, this is Redfield, the only remaining member of the temporary task force, and I have also engaged the Xenomorphs and the Iron Blood."

"Currently I have found a corpse of an Iron Blood youth and two Xenomorph corpses; given the Xenomorphs' uniqueness, I intend to first attempt to recover some Iron Blood equipment."

As he spoke, Chris knelt down.

He removed Catface's wrist computer, wrist blade, spinning knife, retractable spear, mask, and everything else he could take.

Although the Mechanical exoskeleton's left leg was slightly damaged, it was still serviceable, and its load‑bearing function remained fine.

However, in the game, Chris, along with Leon, Claire, Jill and others, are "mobile armories".

Sui Bian believes that even without the Mechanical exoskeleton's assistance, Chris could still manage to take the equipment.

Soon, Chris packed everything he could carry into his bag, while the Red Queen, who had been serving as the communications officer on the Wave Cold Winter's bridge, replied to Chris over the comms:

"Wave Cold Winter received. Also, RedfieldCaptain, please collect a tissue sample from an iron-blooded youth's corpse."

"Okay." Chris instinctively nodded his head.

He took out a small sealed box from his waist tactical pouch with his left hand, and drew a dagger from the sheath on his right calf with his right hand.

Using the dagger, he cut a piece of flesh from the gunshot wound on the left abdomen of the cat-faced and placed it into the sealed box.

He sealed the lid tightly.

He put the dagger away.

He stood up and left.

The pyramid shifted its structure once again, forcing Chris into a new secret chamber.

Here lay the corpse of a third iron-blooded youth.
