Chapter 188: Seeking Refuge (Alliance Leader Bonus 6/10)
After the first set of desks and chairs was finished, Chen Mu summoned Dong Junwei to ask if she still had any requests.
The chief decision officer walked around the desks and chairs twice.
"I also want patterns like Tang Jing's, but not too flashy—can you draw roses? Just place one in the lower right corner of the desk."
"Monitor, you're making things difficult for me, Panghu—do I look like someone who knows flowers?" Chen Mu said impatiently.
"A simple sketch will do—I'll carve it with a knife for you to see, then you use your ability to imprint it on the desk."
Dong Junwei insisted on this especially.
Chen Mu, helpless, since he had already agreed, went the extra mile; he followed Dong Junwei's drawing and stamped a simple rose in the lower right corner of the desk.
"Monitor, your drawing is not bad." Chen Mu was somewhat surprised by Dong Junwei's drawing ability.
"I learned sketching for a few days as a child, but soon gave it up."
"I just admire people who can draw."
"If your ability were combined with art, it should have a pretty good effect." Dong Junwei laughed.
"Well, you know, my Peppa Pig is top-notch." Chen Mu said without modesty.
The two rarely talked about Special Ability alone; their chats were usually everyday matters.
Dong Junwei couldn't help laughing out loud; just as she was about to speak, an alarm sounded.
Soon, the news arrived.
Two people were approaching this place.
Chen Mu frowned slightly.
He hurried to the watchtower and used a telescope to look in the direction Zhao Xiao Yan pointed out.
As expected.
In his view, two figures were rushing hastily toward this direction.
Because the distance was a bit far, even with a telescope it was hard to see clearly; from their movements and silhouettes, they seemed to be two female students.
"Could they be from Qingbei? Come to spy on us?" He Ying had already gone up to the watchtower ahead of time and also saw those two figures.
"Looking at them, they clearly aren't trying to hide their presence—this kind of surveillance is half-hearted."
"Who could they be? This place is remote; it's impossible for survivors to just happen to wander here." He Ying said.
"Who knows? Maybe they came to seek refuge with us." Chen Mu made a joke.
At least on the surface, these two showed no hostility, nor were they sneaking about; and once they got closer, one could see their steps were a bit panicked, as if they were being chased.
"Could they really have come to seek refuge?"
He Ying watched through the telescope and increasingly felt these two were fleeing for their lives.
"It looks like they're avoiding someone." Chen Mu said.
"So what should we do? Should we go out proactively, or pretend we don't know?"
"Judging by their appearance, they seem to know our exact location—let's go down and check."
From the spot seen through the telescope, it actually takes quite a while to walk there; about half an hour later, those two reached the gate.
"Is anyone there? Please take us in!"
Because there were bars below the door gap, the sound could be heard clearly through the door, yet this line left everyone stunned.
"Sure enough, they came to seek refuge?"
"There were only two of them, so I wasn't too worried they were enemies, but I wouldn't just let them in lightly."
Those two were clearly unfamiliar with this side of the gate gap; after searching for a while, they found no entrance, so they could only squat and shout through the bars.
Chen Mu voluntarily took on the task of external liaison, went to where the two were, squatted down, and asked, "Who are you?"
"Great, there really is someone—please take us in, otherwise we two are doomed."
These two female students both wore Ziwei High School uniforms; one was taller and slim, appearing perhaps even taller than Dong Junwei, while the other was relatively short but similar to Du Jia Jia.
Chen Mu couldn't quite figure out their background; normally, survivors wouldn't run to a place lacking food, water, and open space.
Moreover, from their appearance, they seemed to know this place well.
"What are your names?" Chen Mu asked while squatting.
"I'm An Ruosuo, and she's Yang Li." The taller female student said, also sizing up Chen Mu through the bars, then excitedly added, "You're Chen Mu, senior, right?"
Chen Mu was taken aback.
"They actually know me?"
"He grew more curious and asked, 'Do you know Chen Mu?'"
"I don't know him… but I've seen his portrait… aren't you Chen Mu? You look just like him." The girl said hurriedly.
"When did I have a portrait?"
"It feels like I'm being wanted."
Chen Mu asked, "Where are you from?"
The girl hesitated a moment, then said, "Qingbei."
"Qingbei?!"
This statement shocked everyone again.
Dong Junwei, Tang Jing, and the others had also come up behind Chen Mu by then, but remained silent.
"Hello, everyone."
The two girls outside clearly saw the others, especially upon seeing Dong Junwei, their faces lit up with excitement.
"Are you Senior Dong? I know you… I admire you… could you let us in first……?"
These two spoke somewhat incoherently, seeming truly anxious.
Chen Mu said, "If you really are from Qingbei, then for now you cannot."
Ah, I didn't make it clear; we were from Qingbei before, but now we've escaped.
Escaped?
Chen Mu wondered: "Is anyone chasing you?"
Not for now, but they will soon.
"Why did you escape from Qingbei? Qingbei claims it doesn't force anyone to join and allows leaving at any time, doesn't it?" Chen Mu asked.
"How do you know?" the girl named Character: An Ruosuo was taken aback.
Chen Mu hesitated a moment, then said: "Song Yu."
An Ruoshi exclaimed in surprise: "You really know Senior Song Yu? Do you really often contact him secretly?"
This time it was Chen Mu who was stunned.
Me? And Song Yu?
Contact secretly?
What does this have to do with that?
"You still haven't answered my question." Chen Mu didn't know what to say.
"Um... it's a long story; could you let us go in first? If we wait longer, someone might discover we're here—you saw it too, we're just two girls, posing no threat at all."
He glanced back at Dong Junwei.
Dong Junwei nodded: "Let them come in first; we've each already readied a grenade."
Chen Mu nodded.
"Go east."
Chen Mu came to the spot beneath the door gap where people could pass, opened the door, looked outside, and the two girls rushed over to him.
He also looked around some more; indeed, he found no trace of a third person.
He let the two persons enter the room, but didn't let them go further inside.
He conducted the interrogation right at the doorway.
These two were obviously mentally prepared, answering every question.
