Chapter 377
The tense line finally snapped. Hanmok took a deep breath and lowered the weapon in his hand.
At the very last moment, the girl seemed to have changed, but before she could do anything, Peggio's ability was activated, trapping her inside the film. If this situation occurred, no one had any way to resist. Unless Peggio took a photo from the film and called it "Development (Pop Art)," you could not get out.
"Wow... what a masterpiece... pfft pfft pfft pfft! This one will be a family heirloom for a lifetime..."
Peggio gently stroked the lens with a faint smile, his eyes looking as if he had taken drugs.
"Hehe, you know, this is something I intend to hand over to the organization, don't take it for granted."
"Wow, I understand. Of course, I will hand the original over to the organization. We can also make extra prints of the photos we took. We cannot 'develop' that."
Although he said this, his attitude was clearly still somewhat regretful. Suffering so much pain and losing credibility was not unbearable. Hanmok took out his Mobile Phone and sent a message to the organization: the mission was complete.
"... Hmm?"
Missed calls: 200
New emails: 900
For a moment, I felt something was wrong. When I checked it, I received a massive number of calls and emails from unknown destinations. All the letters in the emails were garbled, and the content was unreadable.
At times like this, I would click my tongue, but I would investigate later. Call your organization's contact. There is a risk of being wiretapped by ordinary lines when using it, but since all conversations are encrypted, there is no problem. The contact is also someone who hides their relationship with the organization, just like Hanmok.
"Hello, it's me..."
After it rang for a few seconds, I heard a small, noisy crowd on the other end of the line. I could not hear the other person's voice.
"Hello?"
I received no reply to my call. Gradually, you realize that the sounds you hear are not just everyday noises. The sound of countless small pieces of metal rubbing against each other. I also heard the sound of a large number of insects crawling.
"What is going on?"
Listening carefully, it was as if amidst the thousands of noises, I could hear a faint human voice. I heard a young girl's voice. "Who are you?" many voices said.
Hanmok hung up. Considering that the contact might have been attacked, he called other contacts, but it didn't connect anywhere. No, it connected, but all I could hear was the same noise as before.
(The means of communication with the outside world has been cut off...?)
It is hard to imagine that all contacts were attacked at the same time. That is to say, there is a high possibility that communication interference has been set up in the place where Hanmok is. The question is who is doing it.
The girl's voice heard on the other end of the phone just now seemed to be the same as the voice Hanmok and the others were arguing with earlier.
However, he denied this thought. Once Peggio's ability is activated, there is no escaping it. The subject is Fixed and saved at the time of shooting. This should be the rule.
Regardless, the crisis is imminent. Someone has indeed launched an attack. Hanmok tightened his loose spirit.
However, the burden on his old body felt much heavier than before. It was because of fatigue. He was also old, and his prime as a Nen Ability user had passed. What's more, he used more Aura than the Aura that tortured the girl, and the remaining Aura was unreliable. Unable to grasp the true identity of the enemy, he had no confidence to continue fighting, nor did he know when it would end.
Furthermore, there was a need to escort the luggage named Peggio. I couldn't help but click my tongue more than ever. I shouted to my dull partner who was still carelessly stroking the camera.
"Peggio, get up. We are leaving here soon."
"Hey, Professor."
"Hurry up, there is a danger of being attacked by the enemy."
"Something is wrong with our camera..."
A Red Crystal or something similar was stuck in Peggio's camera.
"Idiot! Throw it away immediately!"
Peggio was startled by Hanmok's loud voice and let go of the camera as if to throw it away. The foreign object attached to the camera was spherical, had needles, and looked like a cactus.
"Where did the attack come from?"
"No, no, I don't know. It just grew out of the camera!"
A plant cannot grow in a few seconds in front of a lens. 8 or 9 times out of 10, it seems to be an attack with a Nen Ability. The girl's comrades, or others using her, may have invaded this island.
Looking around the room, the red bug the girl had been using earlier had also changed. The bug was completely trapped inside the Crystal cactus. It was like an ant trapped in amber.
Since it is unclear under what conditions this ability works, I cannot be careless. In any case, I decided it would be better to leave this room for once.
"Oh, my camera..."
Peggio was trying to get close to the camera he had stumbled down. Seeing that they still did not understand the situation they were in, Hanmok's patience was running out, but now it was wiser to evacuate than to shout.
"Can't you cancel the Materialization?"
"I can't. Why...?"
"... We can collect the camera later."
"No! Ore-tchigu, kaka, kamera, important works, lots of memories, ah, ah."
Hanmok raised his crossbow. Peggio's body began to change shape at the end of the arrow. A red cactus poked its head out from under his clothes.
"I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I will!"
Peggio turned around. The expression was
"Kyoju, take it. Grandfather's face. Take it away with a turtle."
I didn't even have time to return a single Curse. The cactus grew rapidly. Peggio's body was swallowed as if it were being crushed. However, it continued to grow and became larger and larger.
Hanmok jumped out from the entrance for the time being. The residence built in the crevice of the rock wall creaked. It didn't take long for the Wall to be destroyed, and the cactus appeared outside.
A succulent plant that shines like a ruby. Some expand, some sprout, and then new cacti grow from there. If it were the size that could fit in a bowl, even if it grew to a height where one had to look up, it would be like a monster from beyond the heavens.
"This is a Nen Ability...!?"
It is absolutely impossible. It is no longer an ability that that kind of space can deal with, such as which lineage it belongs to, or how heavy its vow is. This is not something a human can do.
Soon, the cactus began to bloom. A bud opened, and something shot out from its center. The flying object had sunk into the trunk of a tree growing nearby. It was a small Bullet with the power of a Bullet. Considering it jumped out of a flower, is it a seed? A small cactus grew from where it landed. If it hit, the damage didn't seem enough to cause harm.
The flowers were in full bloom, and their gaze was cast toward where Hanmok was. But this was not hard to avoid. The seeds only shot in the direction the flowers were facing. However, during that time, the growth of the cactus showed no signs of slowing down, and the cacti that had multiplied into a string continued to grow and strengthen.
Once in bloom, the flower only fires seeds in one direction, but it is like a machine gun, constantly spitting out Bullets. There is no sign of hitting bottom. If it continues to grow at this rate, the number of flowers will soon exceed dozens, hundreds, and the rain of seeds will be like a Barrage. If you don't hide yourself, you won't be able to avoid it. You never know when the small cacti born from those seeds will start to grow rapidly.
Hanmok gritted his teeth. Rather than saying this is a product of a Nen Ability, it is more like a single organism with such an ecology. I have never heard of a plant that cannot be considered such a dangerous creature. If this is true, then the island is suffering from severe environmental destruction by an invasive species.
To him, the value of this island is no less than his life. I cannot escape the island alone. However, in front of the giant cactus, he can do nothing alone. It is clear that even without trying, the boastful crossbow will not be as useful as a hair.
There is no way, I have to go outside the island to ask for help. It is better to contact the Hunter Association than to contact the country. They might quickly summon experts such as Disaster Hunters. But doing so would put the organization completely against them. This is a Contract, and no one should land on this island.
Hunters alone cannot deal with a Disaster of this scale. The number of people gathered cannot be estimated. After the disaster subsides, a thorough investigation of the entire island will be conducted to find out the cause. The existence of the hidden warehouse will definitely be exposed.
Would you abandon your duty of pushing the boxes to save the island, or would you sacrifice your own life and safety? There was no hesitation when making this decision.
This is a special place where I am able to see him again, a life goal I had given up on because I thought I would never see him again. He has the responsibility to protect this island. This was not through dirty deals with the Mafia. With a firm will, he has guarded this land for over ten years.
Even if the organization killed him, he decided to prioritize the lives of the birds. Regardless, if this plant continues to grow, this place will no longer be just a remote island. Even if one does nothing, it will be exposed to the eyes of many. It is no longer possible to call it one's own castle and push it away without anyone approaching.
If you decide to do this, you must leave the island as soon as possible. The Mobile Phone is useless. It is far from being unable to communicate; it is constantly emitting creepy sounds, and even the home screen is filled with incomprehensible strings of characters. You must take a boat directly to a nearby port town.
It will take nearly half a day at the fastest to reach the town, call for help, and mobilize. In that time, there is a high probability that the entire island will be covered by red cacti. There is not even a moment of grace left. Beware of the seed Bullets, and try to escape this place immediately.
But then his gaze met hers.
I do not know how long it has been there. It stands alone, dozens of meters in front of the snowfield.
It shakes and twists, wearing twisted, amorphous armor. The figure is small, barely recognizable as human.
The metallic luster of the red armor flickers in the Wind like flames. Within the crystals that peel off and gather, a silver radiance is mixed in.
Hanmok must have rated this girl as "impossible" many times. I realized she is the culprit behind everything. They must have hidden this plant somewhere from the very beginning. I think he manipulated it and made it grow explosively.
To her, this power might not be something she enjoys using. If it were easy to use, I would have cut my hand earlier. A true last resort. The extent of the damage caused to those around me is something I have experienced personally. The taunting forced the girl into a situation where she had no choice but to use her trump card.
But if this Prediction is correct, there is work to be done. If this girl is manipulating the plant, I can stop the plant's growth by defeating her. It might not stop, but it is possible. Perhaps it is worth a try. Hanmok pointed his crossbow at the girl.
At that moment, the distance between Hanmok and the young girl narrowed to one meter.
I do not know what happened. There was no reason to look away. Instead, I concentrated all my nerves, capturing the enemy's appearance. However, I could barely see the faint movement of a shadow.
Only the fact that they allowed access. She was late, and a gust of Wind blew by. There were no footprints in the snow. Did you close the distance of dozens of meters with a one-on-one movement?
The hand holding the crossbow is trembling. At this distance, the arrow will not miss. Fire and hit. But the Finger on the trigger does not move. Even though I was struck by a chill coming from my internal organs, I was covered in sweat, as if all the moisture in my body had been squeezed out.
The young girl just stood there, the same as before. They were close enough to reach out and touch each other, but they did nothing. I could not even feel any hostility.
However, Hanmok was shocked by the Aura and maturity radiating from her. I cannot imagine that a person's Aura could just be exhausted. I am someone else.
Hanmok does not have such high combat ability as a Nen User. However, that is because he balances Training and bird research; it can be said that his quality as a Hunter is first-class. Otherwise, he would not have been given the title of one star.
I have experienced many battles with higher-level enemies. I made up for the gap in ability with wisdom and technique, winning many battles. He is old and weak, but his technique has been refined. He knows that simple differences in ability do not determine victory or defeat. This is especially true in battles between Nen Users.
But I cannot apply this rule of thumb to this girl. This is a big difference. Even though he was almost killed by an assassin sent by the Mafia, he was not that sad.
I have not used "Kneading" yet. The Aura surrounds the young girl's body thinly and terrifyingly. However, the way this Aura is kneaded is extraordinary. The entire body is wrapped in a finely woven "Ryu," as if it were clothes woven from a single thread.
This alone is not a human skill. It is the ultimate precision that a Martial Arts master could reach, even in a lifetime. However, that thin Aura is not just one sheet, but a multi-layered structure folded layer by layer. It looks as if the "Wrap" is overlapping.
I do not think I am human. This cannot be human.
She has no hatred. You do not need that. For example, when a person steps on an insect, must they have the intent to kill? What if there is an insect where you unconsciously step when you step on it?
For example, if a bug decides to die to challenge a battle, or surrenders to survive, what is the point of this action?
"Damn it ahhhhhh—!!"
Hanmok's stomach swelled up. I only knew that I had been attacked in some way. The crossbow bolt was fired in a random direction. Boiling blood spat out, wetting his beard.
Before the body collapsed, the bleeding stopped and the wounds closed. These holes were not filled with shredded and exploded organs, but with red crystals. The hateful succulent plant devoured him.
Tortured by extreme pain. When he was young, he was bitten by a Poison Snake while studying birds in the jungle. This is the kind of pain I felt at that time. A necrotic poison that can quickly pass through the blood and destroy cells in the body. The injury was like countless needles being carefully planted one by one.
In the past, he was saved by injecting serum in time before he died. However, this time I knew that struggling was useless. There are different degrees of poison. It is similar to snake venom. It feels like my whole body, centered on my abdomen, is being ground into a blender.
I am quite sure I will die soon. However, this Prediction never came true.
Hanmok's body was filled with unprecedented vitality. In the previous battle, the latent Aura left on his body should not have been that much. Nevertheless, the Aura was generated like a gushing spring.
At the same time, the senses became sharper, falling into a state of abnormal excitement. This is a neurological effect similar to hallucinogenic poisons in plants and mushrooms. Mania and depression alternated at a terrifying speed, and my nerves were exhausted.
Physical damage was healed, and Aura overflowed endlessly. However, it does not eliminate the effect of the Poison. Regeneration and destruction, mania and depression repeated endlessly. Enduring pain far beyond human capacity was forced. You cannot die, or even lose consciousness.
That red plant grew by relying on the Aura radiating from his body. Like Peggy, he turned into a cactus monster. He became the Destroyer of the environment he hated most.
I resisted with all my might. I ordered my body, which no longer had a human form, to stop. But that body no longer belonged to him. The cactus extracted nutrients from the nursery, flowers, and seeds. A feeling of loss ran through my whole body, as if every seed was shot out, my soul was drained. And that soul was endlessly replenished and utilized. Scraped off and patched up.
His original body had merged into the roots of the cactus. It was impossible to know what was happening outside. His ears heard this sound, even though it should have been. The voices of many rough men, the harsh sound of trees being cut down, the sound of heavy machinery trampling the soil while spewing exhaust, the laughter of dirty Poachers, they did not even know how precious and beautiful this place was.
This is a scene I saw decades ago. All he could do was watch the brutality of the Poachers destroying the uprooted forest under the guise of development. I hid under the shade of the grass, knelt on the ground, motionless, watching the forest collapse.
Indulging in hallucinations and delusions. However, he no longer had the ability to judge normally. He was eroded by haunting delusions from the past, which shaped his twisted humanity.
Then, a small white piece fell in front of me. I picked it up with trembling hands. A small corpse. A bird I had loved all my life.
"This is your fault"
"You killed me"
I heard the bird's words. He firmly denied it. I did not mean to. I never thought my research would attract Poachers. Such an excuse should not work. The bird's voice was nothing more than a sense of guilt he created himself.
Although they cried, groaned, fell to the ground, and begged for forgiveness, the bird's condemnation never ended.
Hanmok's nest was engulfed in a dark red, translucent red. It was covered in substances that looked like both plants and inorganic crystals.
There was a hollow inside. A man was squatting. In that abnormal space, the man was still alive. His hands and feet were bound, lying there unable to move. It was the person who appeared in Peggy's photo.
The girl was looking down at the man. Waving her Hand Sword, the man's restraints were undone in one stroke. However, once he was free, the man did nothing. With hollow eyes, the mouth that had been freed from its restraints muttered to itself in a mosquito-like voice.
The young girl released her Sword again. The man's head was severed from his torso.
Wasn't she trying to save that man? Isn't that why she used so much power? In the end, I killed them all. I looked away because I couldn't bear to look at the man who had become a mute. As if responding to the rejection, the image on the monitor was cut off.
Through this monitor, I observed every move the girl made. We also saw Peggy and Hanmok transformed into incomprehensible existences. Apparently, this monitor reflected the girl's field of vision as it was.
I am in a strange place. It is a large room like a concert hall. The floor and walls are made of steel. There are no windows, no good lighting, and the red lights installed on the walls dimly illuminate the surroundings. There are several old-fashioned box-type personal Computers on the table. The monitor I saw earlier was one of them.
My body is a girl. The main body is nowhere to be seen, and I cannot feel any connection. Just as I decided to save the man who walked out of the screen, this body became abnormal. Before I knew it, I was in this place, not understanding what this meant. When Peggy flashed his light at me, I was already standing in the room, and visibility disappeared.
I think that camera might have a function that can suck in the person taking the picture. The man in the photo must have been imprisoned in the same way. This is crazy, but I know my common sense is not that helpful, so I cannot say it is impossible.
If so, is this the world inside the camera? What is the scene projected on that monitor? Could it be just my illusion, and in fact, Peggy and Hanmok are still alive?
The picture on the monitor was too shocking, and I couldn't help but stare at it, but it was time to think about leaving here. I don't know if I can get out, but I should try. I don't want to go on like this forever.
The room, illuminated by red and black lights, was filled with eerie things. Things like oval capsules were stuck to the floor and walls. They shattered at a touch, and semi-solid things flowed out from inside. It looked like some kind of egg, but nothing felt alive.
I walked to the back of the room. His feet trembled slightly. It swayed left and right with a constant feeling. It seemed to move with the floor. Perhaps this place is inside a ship floating on the water.
After walking for a while, I saw a door. If you pass through here, you can easily exit, but I don't think you can escape that easily. Now, open the door.
"Ah, hello."
There is something.
I peek through the slightly opened crack in the door. I can only think that I have been standing there from the beginning, waiting for the door to open.
It is a girl who looks exactly like me. Something cold slides down my spine; it is as if my reflection in the mirror is talking to me, surreal.
This makes me want to backtrack and return the way I came. However, when I look back, it is a small room I have never seen before. It is no longer the spacious room from before. Unknowingly, I am trapped in a small room with nowhere to escape, as if driven into a dead end.
"If you don't mind, could you open this place?"
A girl points to the crack in the door. The door is locked with a chain. Unless you remove the chain, the door will not open. It seems the girl has no intention of forcing her way inside. Stay calm.
"... Right, then just leave it like that. I just wanted to talk to you. By the way, was my information helpful to you?"
Information. I listen to the word without specific context and think.
"Didn't I tell you by writing 'save' in blood? Following your Suggestion, you brilliantly drew out the power of this body and defeated the cowardly Hunter."
The girl says that everything she saw on that monitor happened in real life. Then what kind of place is this place where I am now? Where is this place, and who is the girl in front of me?
"This is your dream, and I am just a part of that dream. Don't worry, when you wake up, your normal life will be waiting for you."
This is a lie. In the illusions of a dream, it is impossible to have truly moved the girl's body and left blood-written words.
"He is a person who cares about every little detail; it is a dream, so it is no surprise that such contradictions appear."
That girl wants to toy with me. Even if I pursue it further, I don't think I will get an answer.
"More important than that is the power you have been granted. Now you know how to use it, right? All you have to do is think about saving someone. It is a power you cannot use alone. And the target you are to save is you; you must be a person who thinks."
Before how to use it, I want you to tell me the identity of that power.
"Really? There is no need to worry about such things; do you still need a reason to save someone? If I were to describe it in words, it would be the most noble and precious spirit of self-sacrifice in the world. 'You are not an ant, you are a human. I want to live like a human.' If so, is there any spirit more human than this?"
I can only hear stupid things. Originally, if everything I saw on the monitor just now was true, then what this girl did was simply a massacre. No one was saved.
"I saved you. I gave the mercy of death to the person who was poisoned and begged me to kill him. I gave him freedom, and more importantly, I gave him the freedom of choice. If he wanted to die, he could die himself. I even dirtied my hands to free him from his suffering."
That is just self-righteousness. I can only think that I want to find an excuse for killing.
"Then let me ask you, what kind of salvation do you think you should have done for that man? Are you saying I should have left him there? Do you want me to let him continue to endure the pain of begging for death and live on? Or take him to a hospital? Are you saying we would join hands and support you through the painful illness?"
It is too Extreme. But, in reality, we must draw a line as to how far we can support each other. If I were there at that time, I would have left that person. Sorry, he is not someone I care about enough to want to help him no matter what, and I cannot afford the cost of taking care of him now. My life was saved, so that is all I could do. No matter how much you admit it, all you could do is take her to the city and call an ambulance.
This is my view on being saved; whether he was truly saved is another matter. Is ignoring someone who wants to die from the bottom of their heart called saving? Isn't not wanting to dirty my hands with killing just my own convenience?
"Don't think too much; everyone has things they can and cannot do. The important thing is to try your best. Power. In the name of salvation, you can transform into an invincible hero."
Why so obsessed with saving me? This power can only be used to save people. How was this power created, and how should I use it?
"What is the use of knowing why? What is the use of knowing? This kind of thing is like a cheat given by the gods. The important thing is that you have gained power. How did it feel to be defeated? Mo? When you pierced that crazy old man's stomach and turned him into a horrific sight. You must have felt refreshed. They are evil. And you are kind, helping the weak and breaking the strong. Sinful, punishing sin. The incarnation of good and punishment, the iron hammer of justice. Swing it down; that is the meaning of gaining power."
It seems to be answering something, but in reality, it answers nothing at all. Just listening to the girl's words makes my heart restless.
"Hmm, this time it was definitely a bittersweet scene... but next time it will work. Oh, it will work."
I don't want to talk to you. This is all completed within her. He just talks about it one-sidedly. Indeed, if she is nothing more than an illusion I fabricated, then I didn't know the specifics from the beginning, and perhaps I just couldn't say it.
An incarnation of a childish sense of justice born from the depths of my heart, it simply affirms power and tries to rationalize murder.
But I still want to ask you one last question. If this is my dream, and the girl is just a part of it.
Who am I dreaming of?
"You are the 'King'. You have been granted this role, and you are the only one allowed to be born from this hell."
When I gave up on the thought that I wouldn't get a decent answer anyway, these words jumped into my ears. As I tried to question his true intentions, the other side of the door suddenly became noisy.
"Did I say too much? The Queen is angry."
Several figures appeared from the other side of the corridor. They all had the same face, the same body. The girl who looked exactly like me rushed toward me.
I closed the door. There are no lights in this room. Even the faintest light shooting in from outside the door was cut off, leaving only Pitch Darkness where nothing could be seen.
"Running away is useless. Even if you deny me, the result will not change. You have gained power."
Many footsteps are approaching. I hold my breath in front of the locked door, waiting for the storm to pass.
"Goodbye."
After that voice, nothing could be heard. The sound stopped as if it had vanished. I saw nothing, heard nothing, alone in a small, dark room.
I hear the chirping of birds. When I open my eyes, I see a sparrow galloping past in front of me.
There is nothing wrong with the girl's body. The weather is cold because I was sleeping naked on the snow, but I did not freeze to death. I think injuries like frostbite will heal automatically.
This place is definitely real. There is also an insect corpse nearby. As soon as consciousness recovered, the main body also woke up. It seems I can go home safely.
What place was I looking at just now? Was it the world in the camera, or just a dream? Either way, some things are clear.
There are two huge Red Plant objects. Many spherical cactus-like clumps are connected, growing from the ground like a large tree that looks like it has been there for over 1000 years. However, the texture is Hard, shining like mineral crystals rather than plants.
If I remember correctly, this is Hanmok and peggio. After all, what happened when I was dreaming is reality. The girl escaped my Manipulation and used terrifying power to keep her enemies at bay.
The rapidly growing Red Plant has temporarily stopped. Even the flowers that shot out seeds like a Bullet are silent. I don't know if it is still alive or dead, but I don't think it can return to its original human form.
I believe this power is helpful to me. Otherwise, they would have been killed. However, there is a fear that cannot be readily let go. Up until now, I have undoubtedly used Manipulation on the girl's body, but this incident made me realize that I really don't understand anything.
I am worried. But even so, I cannot leave this girl. There is also the problem of consuming Life Force as the distance increases, but I rely on this girl more for mental reasons. Seeking life as a human, seeking the power to survive.
I don't know what the purpose of Hanmok is, but I cannot say that I will not harbor hostility toward people with mysterious powers like them in the future. We need power to survive.
But from now on, I will have to think more about this girl and the power I possess. In particular, I don't want to use that 'power of salvation' again. The more it is used, the less I can go back. That is how it feels.
I want to investigate this power. To do this, you must leave the island. Staying here, there is no information to be obtained. This is not a question people can easily ask, but if you go to the city, you might find a way to Collect information.
From the world's perspective, there are three missing people on this island. This is a great event. And I am a party to the event, and although it was force majeure, I am also the perpetrator. It is better to Escape. It is hard to be optimistic that being protected by police agencies would be safer.
If you decide to Escape, the sooner the better. I have to get dressed first. The clothes you took off during the torture are in the nest of Hanmok. However, this place is covered in cacti. I am pretty sure there is a hole inside, and the corpse of the man in the photo should be there, but I cannot find a hole that looks like an entrance anywhere. I give up and go to the mountain cabin where I used to live to change clothes.
After getting dressed, we head to the pier. I have lived on this island for more than a week and walked to many places, but today is the first time I have encountered another person. I have a premonition that perhaps Hanmok and the others just arrived on this island by boat. In that case, the boat should be docked at the only pier on this island.
When I reach the beach, hoping it is as expected, there is indeed a boat there. You can leave the island now. I board the ship happily.
From what I can see, it seems the engine's power turns the screw and moves forward. Of course, I don't know how to drive, so I can only do things by trial and error. Unless the weather is bad, even an amateur can drive. I feel this is better than being told to suddenly run on the road in a car.
Looking from the mountaintop at the center of the island, on a clear day, you can see a bit of a land-like Shadow beyond the horizon. Now let us head in that direction. I have a canister of fuel, so I think it will be fine if it takes some time for the Manipulation. Perhaps….
The temporary problem is how to start the engine.
