Chapter 26
The netizens in the livestream room didn't know what the person and dog were talking about; looking at the dog's posture, they burst out laughing.
【Yi Ha truly lives up to being Yi Ha, my goodness, this posture — a natural at eating prison food!】
【I seriously suspect the poop scooper showed it something weird? Dog spirit, dog spirit.】
Yi Ha still didn't know it was being livestreamed to the whole net, lamenting how terribly unlucky it was, and let out a few wuwu cries, its voice muffled.
Ling Yue: "What did you say? Speak up!"
Chai Jia Zhuan Jia stood nearby, opened his mouth, about to say this dog was unruly and couldn't understand human speech, but in the next second the Husky lowered its waist, tucked its tail, and said: "Isn't it clear enough what I'm saying?"
After it finished speaking, Ling Yue stared blankly, her gaze ambiguous as she looked at Chai Jia Zhuan Jia: "Take your phone into the house."
The Husky glanced sideways, and after hearing that, the fierce voice disappeared; besides, the owner turned off the light, looking like they were going to sleep!
In the darkness, the Husky's eyes gleamed, it let out two 'awows', and excitedly wagged its tail.
"My HaHa's opportunity has arrived! I'm not like the poop scooper; happiness must be seized by oneself!"
Inside the house.
Because of Ling Yue's request, Chai Jia Zhuan Jia only kept a small night-light on by the bedside, making half the livestream screen pitch black; even so, the anxiety in the young man's eyes remained clearly visible.
Chai Jia Zhuan Jia: "Host, did you ask clearly? Is there any problem with HaHa?"
Ling Yue didn't beat around the bush, shaking her head directly: "No."
"But——"
Upon hearing this, Chai Jia Zhuan Jia inhaled sharply, his breath catching in his throat: "Ah? There's still a 'but'?"
Ling Yue raised her eyebrows: "You weren't asking me two things? After asking about HaHa, I realized these two matters are actually related. First, HaHa isn't sick; it's just tired."
"Tired?"
Chai Jia Zhuan Jia was baffled, thinking that over the past few days the dog had lain motionless at home—how could it be tired?
He immediately asked, bewildered: "How could it be tired? It's been at home all along."
Ling Yue gave a faint smile: "Really? Are you sure?"
Chai Jia Zhuan Jia: "……"
Suddenly he felt a bit unsure how to break it.
The netizens in the livestream saw the host's smile and also shivered.
【Exactly, that's the vibe! Definitely going to stir up trouble!】
【The host laughed, someone's about to have bad luck—I'm not saying who, hehehe】
【You couldn't possibly guess, could you?!】
【What to do, watching and anticipating—what on earth is up with Chai Jia Zhuan Jia?】
Ling Yue glanced at Chai Jia Zhuan Jia: "You don't mind if I broadcast this, do you?"
Chai Jia Zhuan Jia shook his head repeatedly, he hadn't even had time to feel grateful, and directly said: "Host, rest assured, I'll do whatever you ask." Now that he learned the dog wasn't sick, his whole body relaxed, he patted his chest and lamented: "This unfilial child at home has truly broken my heart!"
Ling Yue glanced at the time, figuring that with the dumb dog's intellect it wouldn't think of anything else, and said: "The timing is perfect—take your phone, gently open the door, and the answer will reveal itself."
Having said that, she curled the corner of her mouth, her smile light.
That smile was quite mysterious, bearing an air of otherworldly grace, and the livestream netizens were left stunned.
【Great! Host, let's uncover the secret!】
【My intuition tells me it's related to Yi Ha.】
【……No way? That's a purebred Yi Ha, a famous handsome fool among dogs!】
【Husky: Good looks, traded for intelligence!】
While the netizens were chatting, Chai Jia Zhuan Jia had already quietly pushed the door open a crack, and the dim room suddenly emitted a strange "creak—creak—" sound.
In the pitch‑black darkness where you can't see your hand in front of your face, it was especially spine‑tingling.
The eerie atmosphere washed over him; Chai Jia Zhuan Jia was on the scene, his heart racing suddenly, and he suddenly recalled something—according to his usual habit, he should already be asleep by now!
In other words, that person knows his daily routine? He widened his eyes in shock—how long has that person been watching him? How many times has he done this?!
Unable to help it, he crossed his arms, feeling nervous, and softly asked Ling Yue: "Host, what should I do now?"
Ling Yue firmly pressed down the rising corners of her mouth: "Turn on the light now!"
The next moment, a sharper "click" sounded, the anti‑theft door creaked open, and a gap appeared.
The livestream viewers, still reeling, heard the host say that and were instantly terrified!
What's going on? Do we still have to turn on the light?!
【The host is a pervert—Chai Jia Zhuan Jia's scrawny arms and legs aren't even enough for someone to slap!】
【Suddenly recalling that news where a thief and the owner face you, suddenly you dare not look—what to do?】
【I'm scared, I want the host to kiss, hug, and lift me high~】
【Yue, get lost upstairs!】
【Is the host really going to do this? Could something happen?】
Ling Yue only said one sentence: "Turn on the light."
Her voice was firm and confident, without a trace of worry, instead always curling a faint smile; recalling the earlier thumping sounds, her smile grew deeper.
"Host, I've done it!"
"Click."
The heavy darkness instantly dissipated; all those earlier imaginations turned to illusions, leaving Chai Jia Zhuan Jia stunned and incredulous as he beheld— the dog tip‑toed, lifted its foreleg onto the door handle, and in its mouth was not the braised chicken leg he had just bought!
At this moment, the door gap widened further.
Chai Jia Zhuan Jia: "!!!"
He clearly remembered that he had not only closed the door but also locked it—yet the Husky still managed to open it, which means all his worries these past days were because of it!
"Unfilial child!" Chai Jia Zhuan Jia roared; the Husky let out an "awow", rammed its head to fling the door wide open, and bolted away!
Mommy, oh heavens, they killed the dog!
The livestream chat users who saw the truth burst into hysterical laughter.
Hahaha, oh my god, just imagining that scene, I laughed so hard I was rolling on the floor!
Hey, you up there, you can't be looking for that!
Whoa, didn't they say after the founding of the PRC you can't become a spirit? I want to report this, Officer—there's still a fish that slipped through the net here!
Hahahaha, you up there, shut up! The Husky was scared by the poop-scooper into losing control of its bowels and bladder, and now it's almost out of sight!
I strongly suspect it was deliberate! Look at the plastic bag it's holding in its mouth—there's definitely food inside!
Nice, nice! This wave, this wave is all about taking food and grabbing stuff—the dog's struck it rich!
The Demolition Expert was sweating profusely; now, sitting on his electric scooter, he felt immensely relieved, having bought it just to walk the dog.
But looking at the empty, deserted road, his mind was about to explode: "Streamer, what should I do?"
Ling Yue: "Cold salad?"
"Just kidding." His earlier question wasn't asked for nothing; Ling Yue immediately pointed him in the right direction. The livestream chat users watched with great interest, a thousand-mile chase after the dog, plus night scenery, making it far more stimulating than an ordinary livestream!
Not long after, the path grew more remote, with withered grass stretching to the sky, desolate wilderness; every now and then a couple of gu-gu calls could be heard, and even the Demolition Expert felt a bit scared.
The livestream chat users gave him courage, with so many people watching—until the next moment, his electric scooter hit something, jolted suddenly, and the vehicle came to an abrupt stop.
The Bomb Disposal Expert got off, still muttering: "What the hell is this, lying across the little road—no public decency at all!"
Then he took a close look; as the camera panned, almost everyone was scared witless.
Holy shit, whose tombstone fell onto the road!
Chat user, you can't curse like that—cursing will bring you bad luck all year!
!!! I, a carp doing sit-ups with a blanket over my head, shouted the core socialist values!
Not just the Demolition Expert—even the livestream chat users watching through the screen felt chills running down their spines. Looking at his legs gone limp like noodles, the Demolition Expert thought: What kind of creepy place is this!
Mom, I want to go home!
He felt the urge to retreat, but before he could speak, a "woooo~~" howl echoed across the entire graveyard, nearly making the Demolition Expert, who had practically raised the unfilial son by hand, shudder: "It's my family's unfilial son!"
Then I'll just keep walking forward—come on!
Yo, poop-scooper, you're full of energy!
I feel so bad for the poop-scooper, but I'm currently in bed, with a stack of red bills pressing down on my pillow, and the Three Pure Ones enshrined on my desk—I can't fly over, what a shame!
Demolition Expert: "……"
I hate it!
He didn't even know how he'd found Ha Ha—maybe he'd floated over—but after walking not far, he could see the whole graveyard laid out before him.
Seeing that scene, the Demolition Expert's pupils contracted sharply.
All he saw was a pack of mixed-size wild dogs with a purebred Husky in their midst, its black-and-white fur especially striking; the dogs lifted their heads to the moon, wailing like ghosts and wolves, dancing in chaotic frenzy.
Ha Ha the Husky called out: "Brothers, jump up! I got this big chicken leg from my owner—everyone, eat up!"
Looks like it's still the boss!
That boss was now half-lying down, biting into a big chicken leg, and nudging the little white ball beside it.
"Mian Mian, want to eat? This fragrant, juicy big chicken leg—it's the biggest one!"
The white ball wobbled; as the camera focused, everyone realized it wasn't a dog at all—clearly a white fox!
The livestream chat users, their eyes opened wide.
True fox-and-dog pals!
Holy crap, these dogs are bold—dancing on the graves!
Next up, please invite the owner of the dog Ha Ha to share a bit?
The Demolition Expert opened his mouth, and after a moment suddenly roared: "Unfilial son, get over here!"
Ha Ha was unfazed: "Mian Mian, you eat the chicken leg first; big brother I'll handle some stuff."
Immediately after, the dog's howls came through; Ling Yue listened, nearly dying of laughter—Ha Ha really was the right name.
Lines like "I still dare!", "You're a single dog, I'm not a single dog", "I want to have puppies with Mian Mian, you're just jealous!"—such remarks almost made people laugh their heads off.
Under the Demolition Expert's strong insistence, Ling Yue had to translate; as she spoke, she watched him grab the dog's ear, and upon hearing the dog's thoughts, she froze completely.
Demolition Expert: "Unfilial son, I'm going to kill you!"
"What little bitch? That's a little fox—having pups? You're not the same species, you can't produce offspring!"
Ha Ha the Husky was still fighting for his love when he suddenly heard that; his dog eyes nearly popped out of their sockets.
"What, what? It's not a Samoyed, it's a little fox?!"
The livestream chat users found it hilarious.
How awful, how awful, how awful! Truly, humans are worse than dogs!
Ha Ha, listen to big brother's advice—just break it off with her; I once saw a fox spirit who outright destroyed a human country; the waters of fox spirits run deep, dog, you can't handle that!
Quickly send the fox away, toss it into the trash can at No. 5 Haitang Avenue, Haitang Street, Haitang City.
Those upstairs have beautiful dreams—I got here first; little fox, what color sack do you like? How about a rainbow-colored one?
At that moment, the little white fox holding the chicken leg glanced at the heartbroken dog and uttered the only thing she'd said these days: "You're indeed great, but we're not suited—forget me."
Ling Yue listened, astonished, and immediately seized the point: "Turns out it's still just a male fox."
The voice wasn't loud, but it was enough for the livestream chat users and the Husky "father-son" pair to hear it crystal clear.
Male, a male fox?
Those eyeliner, that pointed chin, that fluffy big tail, that stunning figure—you're telling me it's only a male fox?!
Ha Ha: "Wuu wuu wuu, these days' chicken legs, these days' feelings—ultimately they were wasted! Wasted!"
Hearing the livestream made him even more furious, his dog eyes bulging: "What going viral? What becoming famous? This luck—do you want it or not?!"
These were all translated by Ling Yue, the livestream chatters——
【She's also a loyal fan of Empresses in the Palace!】
【Holy cow! Has Empresses in the Palace gotten this popular?】
【From today on, I'm no longer a Husky—I'm Aisin Gioro Husky!】
The linked livestream ended amidst chaos, Ling Yue glanced at the time—10:30 p. m. —the online count was about sixty million, fans had increased by who knows how many multiples, directly reaching eight figures.
With such retention and conversion rates, she instantly became a new legend of Orca Live.
Despite fans pleading, Ling Yue unhesitatingly shut down the livestream: "See you next week."
【Streamer, streamer, streamer, don't go!】
【Come back quickly, a week of emptiness—I can't bear it alone!】
Inside the villa.
Ren Yaqi urged her repeatedly to stay, but Ling Yue didn't change her mind; mainly she had other matters, things she couldn't conveniently reveal.
Ling Yue drove to Villa A102, just stepped inside when a legion of kittens lunged at her, a fluffy assault that nearly melted her heart.
But she didn't come here for the kittens; in the dim corner at the foot of the stairs, Ling Yue switched on her phone flashlight, the weak light illuminating the stairwell entrance, where a majestic Maine Coon stared at her.
Ling Yue: "Hello, I'm the owner here. I've come to take Cuicui to the hospital."
The Maine Coon, Dogdan, widened his eyes: "It's you! The voice I heard in the livestream earlier today."
Ling Yue nodded: "So you should know—I'm here to help you; don't resist me."
She didn't try to pet the cat, but simply scooped up the nest and took it away; during this, Cuicui lay weakly in the nest, making Ling Yue's heart ache.
She left, opened her exclusive panel, and upon seeing that long progress bar, finally breathed a sigh of relief. In the car, Ling Yue looked at Cuicui: "Don't worry, you'll definitely pull through."
Cuicui sighed: "It's fine."
She said that, and Dogdan, who had been following closely, instantly flared: "What are you talking about? You'll definitely survive—you haven't even taught the kittens to climb trees and catch fish yet!"
Cuicui lifted her head, rubbed against her mate's neck, her large, amber‑like eyes full of reluctance, while the little ones in the nest slept soundly, pink paws, pink pads, pink nose tip, tiny tongue, smacking their lips—utterly adorable.
Then, suddenly, the system notification sounded: 【Ding, you have triggered a combo task—fulfill the Maine Coon couple's wish: grow old together, reward: 100% animal affinity!】
Accept or refuse?
Ling Yue's eyes flickered—combo task? She widened her horizons: turns out there are combo tasks; when the wishes of two small animals combine, a task is triggered.
Ling Yue tapped confirm without a second thought; perhaps for others, growing old together would be hard, especially since one suffers a serious illness, but with the progress bar guaranteeing success, she could be certain the task would be completed.
Ling Yue went to Jing Shi's top pet hospital; after the doctor's examination and photos, there was no time to waste—Maine Coon Cuicui was rushed straight into the operating room. Outside waited her anxious mate and offspring.
It was already 11 p. m.; the only surgery Ling Yue knew of was Cuicui's, but that didn't mean the hospital was idle—pets streamed incessantly through the staff rest hallway.
Teddy dogs as bright as heaven, earth, and air; shy, clumsy little bunnies; plus reptilian pets—many were office workers coming for check‑ups or treatment, unable to go during the day and only able to wait until night.
Ling Yue shielded Dogdan, speaking softly: "Be good, don't be nervous—Cuicui is going into surgery to have the tack removed; then she won't hurt anymore."
She gently coaxed him, and Dogdan lowered his head.
Just then, a female voice suddenly rang out: "You… were you just talking to the cat?"
Ling Yue instinctively touched her face—she was wearing a mask.
She relaxed and nodded.
The girl laughed, her gaze falling on the cat: "Wow, your cat looks gorgeous and so well‑behaved—she must be lovingly raised; otherwise she wouldn't have such a good temperament."
"Hey there, kitty?"
As she spoke, she greeted Dogdan familiarly, then continued: "People say small animals lack intelligence, but I think otherwise—they're clever, they know how to seek advantage and avoid harm, and they understand what you say; treat them well and they'll treat you well."
"They're far cuter than humans!"
Ling Yue blinked, seeing that this was a very pure‑looking pretty girl; from her designer accessories and bags, the aura of wealth and grandeur nourished by prosperity shone in her brows and eyes.
According to descriptions she'd seen before, this is a pure, carefree earthly flower of wealth and nobility.
The girl clearly liked cats; at first sight she fell for the imposing Dogdan, and after getting acquainted she saw a pile of kittens in the nest, nearly making her scream with delight.
"Aww, kittens are just too adorable! I can't take it—I'm going to swoon!"
Ling Yue couldn't help but be amused by the girl's quirky little gestures, her eyebrows crinkling as she laughed—this person was truly entertaining.
Unfortunately, the pleasant atmosphere was soon utterly ruined.
"Miss Ye, I've finally found you—the boss is coming soon." said a man in a suit, panting slightly and looking a bit flustered.
Ye Lin furrowed her brows: "I said he didn't need to come; I can just check on the baby myself."
Ling Yue: "???"
"Baby? What baby?"
No sooner had the words left her mouth than footsteps sounded; a man in a black suit, upright in posture, approached, the light catching his gold‑rimmed glasses and throwing off a few rainbow glints.
He held a leash attached to a whitish‑tinged golden retriever, his cold, austere aura emanating inside and out, giving off a "keep your distance" vibe.
Ye Yilin saw him and instantly broke into a fawning smile: "Brother, why did you bring the baby over?"
Ye Xiu lan stared at her, his dark, deep eyes making his sister feel guilty as he said: "Is this what you call taking care of the baby? When I was there, I didn't know who had tied its leash to the railing—you're really bold!"
Ye Yilin choked: "Brother, I was wrong."
"You know I'm naturally not fond of dogs—I just love cats, they're so cute QAQ"
Ye Xiu lan, knowing full well what his sister was like, warned in a calm voice: "This is the last time—from now on, the baby is entirely my responsibility."
Ye Yilin nearly jumped for joy, raising both hands: "Great!"
"So can I keep a cat?"
As an onlooker, Ling Yue found the whole scene a bit bewildering; undeniably, this sibling pair were both impressive, she lazily withdrew her gaze—just then the operating‑room lights went out completely.
The nurse called out: "Family of Maine Coon number 34, Cuicui, please come this way!"
Ling Yue responded, then turned to hear the man bluntly refuse: "You're overthinking—is now really the time for you to be keeping a cat?"
"I'm in charge—tomorrow you're going to the company for an internship. You've graduated, haven't you? You're an outstanding young jewelry designer; it's time you shouldered some of the family's burden."
Ye Xiu Lan said, rubbing his sore brow: "Besides this dog, check it quickly; if it weren't for it, I'd still be at the company now."
Ye Yilin pressed her fingers together, knowing her brother's decisions were never subject to change; moreover, at this moment, she couldn't bring herself to refuse.
She could only droop her head listlessly and say weakly: "Okay."
The man sat down beside, his back straight as a measured line, and stroked the dog: "Baby, behave a bit."
By rights, Ling Yue should have left, and she did, but the next moment her steps faltered.
The golden retriever patrol dog suddenly spoke: "What are you calling 'baby' for?"
"Grandson, I'm your grandfather!"
Really a strange person and a strange dog.
At this time Ling Yue didn't know yet that they would meet many more times in the future; her heart was full of concern for Cui Cui's safety. She held the big cat's nest and walked to the incubator, where Cui Cui lay inside; on the other side were the taken-out pushpins, covering an entire plate!
Dog Dan roared angrily, suddenly feeling that kick wasn't enough—how could there be such terrible humans!
Ling Yue pressed on the cat's head and said only: "Quiet, Cui Cui needs rest."
Dog Dan instantly subdued.
The nurse beside stared in astonishment, unable to imagine that such a nasty cat could be calmed with just one sentence.
Because Cui Cui needed to continue recuperating at the pet hospital, when they went back only Ling Yue went—not because she didn't want to bring back Dog Dan and the kittens, but because the other party firmly insisted on standing together with his wife.
As for the kittens, ever since Cui Cui "got sick," they've been taken care of by it, with no problem. As the saying goes, a father is half a mother, so Ling Yue could only cover the medical expenses, letting the family stay in the hospital as comfortably as possible.
Afterwards the days were quite peaceful; the pet consultation shop remained booming, and Ling Yue saw all kinds of pets, of course the most were cats and dogs.
There was still one last consultation on the list; taking advantage of a break, Ling Yue unconsciously thought, the villa had already been renovated, and it was time to move.
The dragon fish in the big tank on the shelf suddenly shouted: "Get to work! Get to work! A customer's here!"
It is now Ling Yue's exclusive fish bell, training every day, striving to become the dragon fish king.
Ling Yue looked at the visitor: "May I ask what you'd like to consult about?"
The person clutched the corner of their clothes: "I, I'm the head of a stray animal shelter."
Ling Yue showed an understanding expression, listening as he continued: "I'd like you to check the animals at our shelter; could the fee be lower?"
"I only have ten thousand."
"Sorry, if you think it's unsuitable, I can leave."
The person was about to leave when they suddenly heard Ling Yue's words; although they didn't know how they'd heard she had a veterinary practitioner certificate, Ling Yue indeed had it—this is the essential qualification for her to open a pet clinic as a vet.
Ling Yue: "I can help you; leave your phone number. As for the consultation fee, you don't need to pay—do I look like someone short on money?"
The person shook their head, immediately pulled out their phone, scanned and paid in one go—Ling Yue didn't even have time to stop them. They showed a simple smile: "Our center is called the Warm Warm Stray Animal Rescue Center; we have quite a few animals, adding up to several hundred, but this time we just want you to do a checkup."
He lowered his head guiltily: "Actually, before finding you, I had almost searched all of Jing Shi, and I never expected you'd agree to help."
Ling Yue smiled and began calculating the medicines and supplies needed for this consultation; in fact, she had once followed her teacher to work at a pet hospital for three months, the busiest and most exhausting three months, and even now thinking of it leaves a shadow.
Therefore she hardly ever mentions it, and basically no one knows.
As for the veterinary practitioner certificate, she also has it, but only a few people know; she doesn't know who leaked it, or whether this is a trap set against her…
Ling Yue felt no fear at all; instead, she was immensely eager.
The two agreed on a time; Ling Yue hung up a "resting" sign and continued studying in the shop, while the table beside her was full of the notes she'd gotten that day from the feng shui turtle master, which he had hidden away.
Ling Yue wasn't lying; she really found it simple, because with her photographic memory she had already memorized some of the most basic Five Elements calculation methods, yin-yang and the eight trigrams, and she had also divided them into four major categories: implements, methods, elixirs, and talismans.
She had no magical implements, no spells, no elixirs—only the simplest talismans were feasible, so Ling Yue first studied talismans, the dust-removing talisman?
After discarding one sheet, she gathered her focus, completed it in one breath, a white light flashed across the notebook paper, and Ling Yue tapped her fingertip: "Is this… successful?"
Her eyes widened in astonishment; she took the talisman and used it directly. The feng shui turtle resting beside the table sensed the movement, instantly opened its eyes, saw Ling Yue jumping about, and couldn't help exclaiming: "You're alright?!"
Ling Yue looked at it doubtfully: "What could happen?"
Feng shui turtle: "Even the simplest dust-removing talisman requires great power for mortals; I've seen geniuses at the very start of the Dao, after writing it they'd collapse on the ground, exhausted. You feel nothing at all?"
Ling Yue stood up where she was, lightly gave it a basin of water: "No."
"Do I look like I'm in trouble?"
The feng shui turtle narrowed its eyes contentedly: "Exactly, exactly, this temperature is so comfortable."
Immediately it reacted: "Then all I can say is, you're even more monstrously talented than they are!"
After Ling Yue wrote several talismans in a row, each different, the feng shui turtle's astonishment rose to its peak, leaving it completely numb.
By evening, when she went to pick up Da Hei, the feng shui turtle had been so stunned by her that it didn't want to make a sound; meanwhile Da Hei immediately noticed something was off, nuzzling Ling Yue's leg: "Master, what's wrong with Grandpa Turtle?"
Ling Yue feigned innocence: "Ah, I don't know either."
Da Hei, after polishing, is now a qualified dog trainer and police dog, but once beside his master he's completely different from training.
He eagerly talked about recent training items, and Ling Yue turned into a bragging machine: "Da Hei is the best, Da Hei is super awesome!" All kinds of sweet words spilled out.
Beside him, Lin Shaoze couldn't help glancing over repeatedly, watching Da Hei act like a spoiled child, and he smiled helplessly.
Da Hei is now the top dog of the criminal police unit; all the police dogs in the district know that here we have the king of police dogs, called Da Hei, who wins first place in multiple trainings—physical, mental, etc. —by crushing the competition.
Such a dog, in front of Ling Yue, turns into a whining monster, being both coquettish and cute.
Lin Shaoze's frequent glances had long been noticed by Ling Yue, but she just didn't want to engage; instead Da Hei voluntarily brought him up: "Captain Lin treats me super well! I want to train, and he takes me running lap after lap—no one else will!"
Exhausted and collapsed, Cheng Ziming shouted: "It's unfair! We also accompany Da Hei in training, even if we get dragged down by the dog halfway, that's still training!"
Getting back to the point, Da Hei has been very relaxed lately, whereas Lin Shaoze rarely shows up; he's been busy lately, and Da Hei vaguely heard other dogs mention, unable to keep from telling his master: "It seems like some suspect, setting out from Hai Shi or Shen Shi, has recently drifted over to our area."
"Captain Lin has been tracking the suspect these days; the danger isn't high, but it's quite important. I heard he's involved in some case, but I'm not sure."
Ling Yue patted its head, her beautiful peach-blossom eyes slightly lowering, giving a hint of gravity: "Really?"
She then said: "Da Hei, let's go home!"
Ling Yue said while winking at the dog: "There's a surprise!"
Half an hour later, Da Hei, through the car window, saw a lovely villa standing before him; the huge, lush green lawn in front immediately caught his attention!
So soft, I just want to roll!
Ling Yue opened the car door; the car had already jumped straight out the window, she plopped onto the grass and rolled around in all directions: "Aooo aooo aooo! Master, I'm so happy—the grass here is all soft, the smell of grass is nice, it's nothing like the grass in the residential area!"
Ling Yue laughed upon hearing this; the annual maintenance fee was hundreds of thousands—could that be a joke?
She led the dog and the feng shui turtle inside; the treasure-seeking mouse and the crow were already waiting within, and upon seeing them, each was overjoyed.
Ling Yue specially made a large piece of yellow beef; only when the meal was ready did she discover that the Mysterious Cat Queen had not yet returned.
As night fell, the heavily light-polluted city sky revealed only a few dim stars.
The feng shui turtle couldn't help but sigh: "A few hundred years ago, when I passed through here, this place was just a small mound of earth."
Suddenly, the osmanthus tree by the gate made a rustling sound; Mousey spoke first: "It's my wife! My wife is back!"
The Mysterious Cat Queen seemed to be holding something in its mouth; in the blink of an eye, it nimbly climbed down the tree and stood directly before Ling Yue. The thing in its mouth fell to the ground, and everyone saw that it was actually an adorable, chubby little Sanhua kitten.
The little fellow was badly frightened; upon seeing Ling Yue, it kept nudging her leg, clearly it had recognized her—Ling Yue was the kind soul who fed it meat.
Ling Yue was even more familiar with the kitten—it was none other than Jump Jump's child, Little Star. Since it was their only offspring, Jump Jump took it everywhere unless absolutely unavoidable, in which case it would leave Little Star at the villa for other stay-at-home cat mothers to care for.
Ling Yue gazed at the Mysterious Cat Queen, glanced behind it for a moment, but saw no trace of the big cat.
For some unknown reason, a throbbing sensation near her temples made Ling Yue furrow her brows.
The next moment, the Mysterious Cat Queen said coldly: "Master, come with me quickly—Jump Jump has had an accident!"
Ling Yue and the pets were all greatly startled.
Her heart clenched instantly; even as she gripped the steering wheel, still not reacting, her feet felt as if they were stepping on clouds, and she could no longer control her voice: "What happened? What on earth has happened to Jump Jump?!"
She felt somewhat remorseful; she shouldn't have let the cats risk their lives for the sake of her own plan.
