Chapter 51: Brought Some Snacks

~6 min read 1,032 words

"He lost?" Emily whispered. "But how? How is this possible? Those moves, that otherworldly speed... It’s only possible by someone at the level of a Disaster-class knight. But I don’t think even father could be that fast. But he still lost?" Emily felt her whole world collapsing.

The others also looked defeated. "Is death the only way out of this?" The knight with tank ability spoke with a broken voice.

Meanwhile Leon...

His whole body throbbed in pain. He tried to lift his body up, but his skeleton didn’t move even an inch.

A few metres in the distance from him, the frost blade stood embedded in the ground like a lone warrior. It still exuded a chilling aura. A portion of the ground had frozen.

Woooosh!

Thud!

A figure crashed into the ground from above like a meteor. But unlike Leon, the figure was still on his feet.

Harold.

He slowly walked toward the blade instead of Leon as if he had totally forgotten about him.

Harold stopped before the sword and circled it a few times. "Wahahaha." He burst into laughter. "It really is the legendary sword. The Frost Monarch’s blade. I can’t believe that, while looking for fun, I would end up with something like this. Now, who can stop me from being the ruler of Nexar?

No one.

No one can stop me."

While speaking loudly in excitement, Harold moved closer to the blade.

"Now... It’s mine." He pushed his hand toward the hilt.

"No." Leon mumbled. "Don’t. It’s mine." He somehow choked out those words. His voice was so weak that his words reached no one. He gritted his teeth and pushed his body to its limit to stand up. Veins popped up in his forehead. But then... His vision blurred. He collapsed unconscious.

Every knight watched the scene unfold in despair. Noah and Sol wanted to go and check Leon’s condition, but they couldn’t. They felt like their limbs weren’t listening to their commands anymore.

Harold’s fingertips got closer to their target.

But just as they were about to graze the hilt, someone appeared behind him. It was so fast that it felt like the figure had materialized out of thin air.

"You dare to hurt my master and even covet his sword? The nerve!" A female voice rang out behind Harold.

A woman stood behind Harold. She was in plain white clothes, but her beauty was ethereal.

If Leon were still awake, he would have turned 180 degrees and bolted away, seeing her. Because it was none but that colossal serpent that had shifted into a human.

Harold stopped midway due to the chilling aura that smelled of death. He slowly turned his head.

"How dare you? Do you even know who I..." Harold started, but suddenly, his voice trailed off the moment he saw clearly who the person behind him was. "Wait. You!" He staggered back two steps. "How is this possible? You are supposed to be dead." His face looked horrified as if he had just seen a ghost.

"You want to be the ruler of Nexar? What a joke."

She raised her hand and jabbed a finger at Harold’s chest. The moment the finger tip touched Harold’s chest, air rippled as Harold was blown away like a cannonball.

"Grrhhhhhhh." The surrounding monsters were enraged. They all lunged at the mysterious female.

But she stood there calmly and raised her right hand gracefully.

"Ice rage. Descended."

The moment her lips closed, more than fifty spears materialized in the sky. All made of ice. Right after materializing, they started to spin, looking like swirling lancers.

All the monsters looked up instinctively. Before they could even guess what was about to happen, all those ice spears shot down, each one piercing a monster. S-Class or F-Class, none was spared. The very next moment, all the spears exploded inside the bodies, and jagged ice spikes erupted outward.

Emily’s eyes widened. Sol and Noah’s jaws hung open. The other two hunters’ faces turned ghostly pale.

’Does this place have any logic about strength? What the hell kind of power is this?’ They both thought.

Suddenly, the wyvern at the back raised its head high, angry. Then...

It thrust its head forward. A green beam shot forward.

"Watch out. It’s poison." Emily shouted as she leapt back. At her voice, everyone snapped back to reality and followed.

The green beam of poison struck the gorgeous female who stood out in a dangerous way.

"Nooo. What if she dies like that?" Emily shouted and was about to storm forward to support her. ’I can’t let her die. She is strong and may be... Maybe she is the only one who can help us get out of here alive.’

But just when she got close, ready to cast a spell, she saw something.

The female in the white dress stood calmly. There wasn’t even a trace of pain on her face. Rather, an ice barrier had enveloped her.

The moment the wyvern closed its maw, unleashing its rage, the mysterious female made her move.

The ice shield disintegrated into white fragments as she shot toward the wyvern. The ground had cracked beneath her foot.

She reached the wyvern instantly. She went past its head, her hand moving in a swift slash.

No weapon, no spell.

But the next moment, the wyvern’s head twisted and separated. The body and the head started to fall.

Thud!

Dust and debris exploded outward like a tsunami.

The female slowly walked out of the smoke and dust. Without batting an eye at anyone else, she started walking toward Leon.

Emily looked at where Harold had crashed. There was no body, his condition unknown.

While walking, the mysterious girl raised her right hand.

All the monster corpses started to stir. And suddenly, they all were lifted up, hovering in the sky.

Before everyone could register what just happened, all those corpses blasted into meat paste. Something flew out of all those scattering remains.

Emily noticed it instantly. "Monster cores?"

The gorgeous female stopped before Leon, those monster cores coming to her and hovering over her palm.

"Master." She spoke. "I brought some snacks for your recovery."
