Chapter 246: Setting Out

~7 min read 1,387 words

Just as the wizards on the square were still searching for their familiar teams.

A figure descended slowly from the black earth in the sky, which resembled an inverted continent, without any warning.

The instant Gao Jie Ming saw this scene, he instead froze for a moment.

Something was wrong!

According to the general rules of the Junction Point, no matter which wizard issued an expedition commission here, the three resident forces—Plane Nuolun Workshop, the Tower of Extinction, and the Chaos Secret Sect—would each dispatch a powerful supervisor to accompany the ship on the expedition.

These three wizards served both as combat strength and research support for the expeditionary force, and as supervisors for the entire journey.

After all, if no one was watching, these profit-driven wizards might run wild in the Chaotic Void.

What if those wizards who issued the commission, for some private gain, directly ruined the "Ship Plane"?

Although these were all abandoned planes, after being modified by the three major forces, they still retained considerable strategic value.

And using another's property as a "cost" to achieve one's own goals for personal profit was something wizards could absolutely do under the right circumstances, without the slightest psychological burden.

Therefore, the existence of "supervisors" was necessary.

Under normal circumstances, to avoid seizing the initiative from the task commissioners, the three major forces would each dispatch at least one Level Five Wizard to serve as a supervisor.

But now, only a single figure was descending...

Unless...

Gao Jie Ming's pupils contracted sharply!

His expression changed as he thought of a certain possibility.

At the same time, many experienced wizards on the square also noticed this problem.

Just as they were guessing uncertainly about this, a terrifying pressure that seemed capable of freezing the soul descended like an invisible tide, instantly sweeping across the entire square!

He, or rather It, emanated a powerful aura as unfathomable as the abyss!

This sudden pressure made all the wizards present shiver involuntarily; they fell silent one after another and looked up.

As the figure in the sky drew closer, the sense of oppression emanating from it grew stronger.

Soon, it exceeded a certain limit that all the wizards present could comprehend!

The square, which had been somewhat noisy just moments before, immediately fell completely silent under this pressure.

The expressions of all the wizards unconsciously became respectful.

Everyone gazed at this terrifying existence about to descend, their facial expressions making it seem as though they were respectfully awaiting his arrival.

The aura emanating from that figure was like the most violent blizzard at the polar regions.

It not only made people unable to stand firm under this pressure but also made them feel a bone-chilling cold originating from the depths of their souls!

Looking at his own hands trembling uncontrollably due to physiological reactions under the other's pressure, Gao Jie Ming completely confirmed the thought that had just arisen in his mind:

The wizard leading this expedition was a Level Seven Grand Wizard!

No wonder there were no supervisors from those three major forces on this expedition!

Faced with the vast wealth of a Level Seven Wizard, sufficient to purchase several planes, and that invincible absolute power, there was indeed no need to go through those tedious supervisory procedures.

Gao Jie Ming unconsciously licked the corners of his mouth, which had somehow become somewhat dry, and struggled to lift his head, gazing at the rapidly approaching figure.

The other's body clearly appeared to be the same size as a normal wizard.

But, in Gao Jie Ming's perception, in a trance, he seemed to see a huge black shadow, so vast it could not be described in words, standing quietly behind that figure.

That black shadow seemed to be an aggregate of laws composed of the purest chaos and ice.

It recklessly released the terrifying oppressive force unique to high-level life forms, like a vast, boundless shadow cast down from a higher dimension, even completely blocking the light emitted by the artificial sun of the Junction Point!

As the other drew closer, some lower-level Level One Wizards, under this pressure, already looked purple in the face and struggled to breathe, appearing as if they were about to suffocate.

Many wizards' faces also showed unnatural flushes, and the energy within their bodies even began to show signs of disorder.

Gao Jie Ming stared fixedly at that illusory yet real giant black shadow, feeling as if his heart were being fiercely gripped by an invisible giant hand.

His body also disappointingly twitched violently!

Looking at the oppressive atmosphere on the square, which seemed as if even the air had been completely frozen, Gao Jie Ming couldn't help but sigh in his heart:

"Is this, the true sense of oppression of a Level Seven Wizard?!"

In the past, Gao Jie Ming had also witnessed a Level Seven Wizard in action from afar on the Elosia Plane.

It was indeed magnificent and imposing, capable of changing the weather with a wave of the hand.

But because the distance was too great, and because the wizards at that time had deliberately restrained their auras, there was no real sense of it.

This unknown Level Seven Wizard before him might not be as strong as the deans of the Plane Nuolun Workshop in terms of raw power.

But as the leader of this expedition, the sense of oppression brought by his unreserved release of pressure was completely incomparable to what had been felt back on the Elosia Plane!

Amidst the attention of the multitude, the Level Seven Wizard shrouded in frost finally descended to the space above the square.

His ice-blue eyes swept over the area below, and expressionlessly, he gave a symbolic nod to everyone below.

Immediately, this wizard introduced his name in a brief, cold tone devoid of any emotion:

"I am, Dionysius Spencer."

Following this, Dionysius Spencer directly issued an order, his voice resonating in every wizard's mind like a decree of midwinter: "Everyone, enter the 'Ship Plane' immediately. Depart at once!"

At the same time the order was given, that sky-filling pressure, which had felt as substantial as a physical object covering the entire square, scattered instantly like a receding tide.

All the wizards who had been pressed until they could barely breathe finally felt as though they had come back to life.

Gao Jie Ming had originally thought he was already accustomed to the wizards' style of extreme efficiency, where no morale-boosting pre-battle speeches were ever made before an expedition.

But the conciseness of this Wizard Dionysius Spencer's actions still exceeded his expectations.

However, now was not the time to dwell on such matters.

After Dionysius Spencer issued his command, Gao Jie Ming, along with the other wizards who had suppressed the shock in their hearts and were now full of excitement, shot into the sky, flying toward the black earth above.

Like a dense swarm of locusts, the wizards boarded this massive "Ship Plane" with extreme efficiency.

Rumble, rumble...

As the last person disembarked, this war machine, silent for so long, emitted a low rumble.

Immediately, its massive body slowly "ascended," vanishing into the thick sea of clouds at the junction point.

A Level Seven Wizard manipulating a plane operated with even more absurd efficiency; in nearly an instant, the ship-plane detached from the junction point, this stable docking port, and began roaming within that endless, chaotic void.

Having gained experience from the last time, Gao Jie Ming, upon arriving on this vast black land, did not hesitate to immediately summon those five colossal black giants from his internal space.

The wizards around him also began making their respective pre-battle preparations.

Bio-beasts of various forms and entirely different states of existence, elemental puppets, and alien servant armies were summoned forth by these wizards one after another.

For a moment, demons danced wildly across the entire black expanse.

A few minutes later, just as all the wizards were ready, a deafening roar that tore through space echoed from the sky, and a spatial rift so wide it nearly spanned the entire horizon was violently ripped open by an invisible force!

On the other side of that spatial rift, a world seemingly filled with dense white mist came into the view of every wizard present!

The new battlefield had arrived!
