Chapter 18: The Qualities of a King! Ace's Shock! [Second Update]

Day and night alternated,

the stars shifted across the sky.

The next day.

The blazing sun rose slowly, scattering a golden, shimmering halo of light.

All things at their beginning, brimming with vigorous life.

Early in the morning, a beast's roaring cry echoed from deep within the mountains.

"Hiss!"

"What's going on?"

"What happened last night?"

"How did I suddenly fall asleep here in the hall?"

From inside the house came a series of utterly bewildered voices.

Just then,

one after another, members of the Dardenne family pressed both hands against the floor tiles, dragging their exhausted and aching bodies upright from the ground, their faces filled with confusion and incomprehension.

The leftover food and broken shards of dishes on the floor from last night had already been cleaned up spotlessly by Dardenne alone.

As Dardenne walked out from the room, pair after pair of bewildered gazes gathered upon her, their eyes brimming with questions.

"Big Sis, what happened last night? Why did we all fall asleep here in the hall?"

"Yeah..."

"Yesterday my eyelids suddenly became very heavy, and before I could control my body I just collapsed."

"Were you all the same?"

Everyone spoke at once.

"Enough, quiet."

"Stop arguing!"

"Don't you all have work to do?"

Dardenne waved her hand with a look of impatience.

Gradually,

cowed by Dardenne's authority, the members of the Dardenne family dared not press further, and each quickly busied themselves with their own tasks.

Just as Dardenne turned, preparing to leave.

A small boy appeared beside her.

It was Ace!

"Last night..."

"I think I felt it."
