Chapter 496: Shocking

At the door,

Lu En looked slightly stunned, the voice of the naval colonel before him still echoing in his ears.

He thought he had misheard.

Rear Admiral?!

I am…

Rear Admiral of the Navy Headquarters?

When?

"Could it be…"

"Has the higher command already issued my appointment?"

"Admiral Kong's appointment of me is to make me Rear Admiral of the Navy Headquarters?"

Lu En opened his mouth but could not speak.

For this, he had been completely unprepared throughout.

He had assumed

the highest possible rank would be Naval Colonel.

After all,

he was only five years old!

And he had just graduated from the training camp.

To be promoted at once to Naval Colonel was already an excellent outcome in his eyes.

But he could never have predicted

that Kong's appointment of him would be…

Rear Admiral of the Navy Headquarters!

This was a rank second only to Vice Admiral of the Headquarters!

Strictly speaking,

Rear Admiral of the Navy Headquarters was already a high-level figure in the navy, even possessing voting rights on certain major naval affairs.

Think about it,

how high a rank was Rear Admiral!

Beyond that, it would be Vice Admiral of the Navy Headquarters.

As of now,

in Lu En's understanding, the Navy Headquarters could not possibly have more than a hundred Rear Admirals.

Yet he had not expected

that today, right after graduating from the training camp, he had become a Headquarters Rear Admiral!

This unexpected joy truly left Lu En dazed and his head spinning.

"Could I have gotten this through connections?"

He thought with a strange expression.

With his status as the grandson of the hero Captain Kapu…

Getting in through backdoors would be more than easy.

Even Admiral Bone Kong would give Kapu some face.

This was beyond doubt.

Being promoted at once to Headquarters Rear Admiral made Lu En inevitably wonder whether he had secured the position through his illustrious family background.

If not,

why would the Admiral appoint him directly as Headquarters Rear Admiral?

Huh!

Lu En exhaled heavily, his thoughts momentarily chaotic.

"Rear Admiral Lu En, this is the official appointment letter personally given to you by the Admiral."

"And…"

"This is the naval uniform exclusive to Navy Headquarters Rear Admirals."

"From today onward, these all belong to you."

"You are the youngest Headquarters Rear Admiral in naval history!"

At this moment, the naval colonel at the door spoke with a tone of shock and reverence.

Upon first hearing Admiral Kong's order,

he too had been bewildered and incredulous.

A five-year-old Headquarters Rear Admiral?

This truly shattered his understanding.

Therefore,

along the way, carrying out Admiral Kong's orders and instructions, his stunned emotions had remained uncalmed.

A five-year-old Headquarters Rear Admiral—unprecedented!

Unheard of!

Never seen before!

Even a Headquarters Rear Admiral under ten years old had never existed.

Now,

The Lu En before his eyes was still a Headquarters Rear Admiral at the mere age of five!

All of this completely overturned the Navy Colonel's worldview.

It also filled him with admiration and reverence for Lu En.

In front of Lu En, he naturally did not dare show even a hint of doubt on his face.

After all.

These past few days, the name Lu En had already echoed throughout all of Marineford.

Quan Mo Lu En — his fame was illustrious and far-reaching!

Even within Marineford, the Navy Headquarters, he still made countless Marines feel as though his renown thundered in their ears.

Therefore.

Standing before Lu En, even as a Navy Colonel, he did not dare act presumptuous in the slightest.

Moreover…

The Lu En before him, a mere five years old, had already been granted the position of the youngest Headquarters Rear Admiral in history!

This made him even less dare to slack off.

"The youngest Headquarters Rear Admiral in history, hm?"

Lu En came back to his senses, his eyes full of anticipation as he looked at the Navy Colonel before him, who was holding in his hands a uniform exclusive to a Navy Rear Admiral, along with a Rear Admiral appointment letter personally issued by the Navy Admiral.

With these two items,

it also symbolized…

From this day forth,

Lu En would become the youngest Rear Admiral in the history of Navy Headquarters!

A Rear Admiral at the mere age of five!

"Who would have thought…"

"Marshal Kong would actually appoint me directly as a Navy Headquarters Rear Admiral."

"It truly leaves me overwhelmed by the favor."

Lu En sighed softly to himself.

He did not know.

Kong had done this out of worry that he would become disillusioned with the Navy, which was why he chose to appoint him to such a high position as Headquarters Rear Admiral!

From this, one could see,

just how much importance Kong, as Navy Admiral, placed on Lu En!

Next,

Lu En, whose emotions gradually calmed, slowly raised his hand and accepted the uniform and appointment letter.

Holding this set of clothes, he could feel the weight in his hands was heavy.

This was not simply the weight of a set of clothes…

There was also,

the heavy burden of being the youngest Navy Headquarters Rear Admiral in history!

As the clothes were accepted by Lu En, the Navy Colonel breathed a sigh of relief. His eyes full of awe, he gazed at Lu En, surveying the latter with a heart full of curiosity.

No matter how he looked,

he still found it hard to imagine…

that the five-year-old boy before him was actually a terrifying monster possessing the combat power of a Vice Admiral!

He was even a powerful existence capable of briefly holding his own against Navy Admiral Master Zefa!

Thinking of this, he could not help but gasp in repeated astonishment.

What is a true genius?

This — this is it!

"Rear Admiral Lu En, the items have been delivered, so I won't linger any longer. I must hurry back to report to the Marshal."

Amid his lament, the Navy Colonel hurriedly spoke up.

"Sorry for the trouble."

Lu En nodded.

Not long after,
