Chapter 51: Recruiting Troops and Hiring a New Cleaning Girl (33k Request for Follow)
Below the faculty apartment building.
Chen Yansen watched Xu Xingxing flee in panic, wiped the lipstick from his lips, and sneered: “Yell loud, run fast—can’t even hold third base.”
He patted his belly and strolled slowly into the cafeteria.
On the other side, Xu Xingxing ran several hundred meters before finally stopping, gasping for breath.
She was drenched, cheeks flushed, silently regretting she’d been so bold in teasing Chen Yansen.
That bastard—he takes every advantage, no hesitation at all!
She’d thought Chen Yansen would at most kiss her, but this guy acted like a seasoned pro, almost swallowing her whole.
Recalling what just happened, Xu Xingxing felt both fear and excitement—who wouldn’t want to date a tall, handsome, wealthy guy like Chen Yansen?
Back in the dorm, her closest roommate immediately rushed over and asked: “Xingxing, what did you do with Chen Yansen?”
“Of course, it was a date.”
Xu Xingxing giggled, deliberately glancing at Su Meiling, her voice just loud enough for the other to hear.
Su Meiling watched her fix her lipstick in the mirror, her mind filling with suspicions.
“Xu Xingxing, what exactly are you trying to say? Everyone knows I was the first to like Chen Yansen—I even planned to pursue him.”
The slightly chubby girl with freckles, hearing Xu Xingxing’s veiled jab, couldn’t sit still anymore and shouted out:
“The real contender hasn’t even panicked, and you’re already in a frenzy? Too bad—Class Monitor Chen doesn’t like good girls. Besides, you’ve only planned to pursue him—you haven’t even caught him yet.”
Xu Xingxing smiled faintly and mocked back.
If a boy interests you, no one else can touch him?
“Xu Xingxing, are you sure you want to compete with me for Chen Yansen?” Su Meiling shot to her feet, face cold.
“Stop arguing! It’s just Chen Yansen—is it really worth it? I heard from a senior that he already has a girlfriend—you two have no chance.”
In the corner, a quiet girl with glasses glanced disdainfully at Xu Xingxing and Su Meiling and spoke up suddenly.
“Impossible! Wu Xiaoyu, who told you that?” Su Meiling’s face darkened, pressing urgently.
“Lots of people in the Information Engineering Department know—he has a girlfriend in her second year, supposedly in the design class.”
Wu Xiaoyu adjusted her glasses, closed her textbook, and answered calmly.
Someone like her, focused on postgraduate exams, simply couldn’t understand how two girls could turn the dorm into a cold war over one guy.
“Heehee, I’ve known about Class Monitor Chen’s girlfriend for a while now—but so what?” Xu Xingxing’s laugh rang like a silver bell, carefree.
Su Meiling shot Xu Xingxing a cold look, then saw Wu Xiaoyu wasn’t joking—she fell silent, stunned and weighed down by thoughts.
The next morning, second floor of the Entrepreneurship Park.
Because Chen Yansen had posted the second recruitment notice for FoxTao yesterday, at eight sharp, applicants lined up outside Rooms 206 and 208 with their resumes.
Drawing from last time’s experience, Song Yuncheng first had everyone line up, then poured each person a glass of water.
Chen Yansen didn’t arrive until nine, unhurried.
He scanned the dense crowd, exhaled deeply, thinking: I underestimated how attractive FoxTao’s salary was—so many came an hour early just to queue for interviews.
Chen Yansen wasted no time; after sitting down, he immediately announced the interviews had begun.
“See this table? Give it an e-commerce-style headline under twenty characters.”
Chen Yansen began interviewing for the product selection and operations position, gesturing for Song Yuncheng to hand each candidate paper and a pen.
“Scratch-scratch-scratch—”
Instantly, the hall filled with the sound of ballpoint pens scraping paper.
Five minutes later, Chen Yansen took the completed forms from Song Yuncheng, marking satisfied with a check and dissatisfied with an X.
In the end, only two were kept: Chen Xu, a third-year e-commerce major, and Hu Li, a fourth-year Chinese language major.
“Song Yuncheng, train these two in product selection—if you have any doubts, come ask me.”
Chen Yansen instructed Song Yuncheng.
Unconsciously, she’d become UI designer, product selector, admin, HR, and Chen Zong’s personal secretary.
Song Yuncheng nodded, leading Chen Xu and Hu Li to the vacant desks in Room 208, then pulled out two brand-new business laptops. The three sat side by side, whispering over the product selection page.
Soon after, Su Meiling arrived with three plain-dressed girls from the stairwell, glanced around, then fixed her gaze on Song Yuncheng.
Looks pretty ordinary—not even particularly pretty.
Su Meiling mused inwardly, her confidence rising slightly.
“Oh, Secretary Su’s here? Please sit, girls—thank you for coming to help. Benefits, duties, hours—Secretary Su already explained them, so I won’t repeat. Song...”
Chen Yansen paused his interview, stepped forward to greet them—he instinctively started to call Song Yuncheng, but seeing her head down working, swallowed the name.
Damn, we’re still so short-staffed!
“Zhuang Rui, take these three girls to Room 208 and help them connect to the customer service system.”
Chen Yansen glanced around, decided Zhuang Rui was best suited, and called out.
“Got it, Sen-ge!”
Zhuang Rui, seeing three girls, jumped up eagerly, led them to get laptops, register accounts, then handed them a thick PowerPoint document.
It detailed FoxTao’s business model, SOPs for answering user questions, and procedures for order tracking and reordering.
“Chen Yansen, you can call me Su Meiling—or just Meiling,” Su Meiling lowered her head, glanced guiltily at Song Yuncheng, then spoke softly.
“Alright, Secretary Su! I’m busy—won’t keep you.”
Chen Yansen nodded and gave her a direct dismissal.
Su Meiling froze slightly—she hadn’t expected Chen Yansen to be so utilitarian: use them when needed, discard them when not.
But she remembered why she’d come, lowered her voice, and glanced toward Song Yuncheng: “Is that senior your girlfriend?”
Is Song Yuncheng my girlfriend?
Who’s spreading this nonsense? I haven’t even gotten her yet!
Chen Yansen’s expression twisted oddly, but he didn’t correct it—instead, he asked seriously: “Yeah? So what?”
“Oh.”
Su Meiling’s heart clenched—upon hearing Chen Yansen’s reply, it felt like she’d hit a brick wall. Her spirits sank, and she turned and walked away.
All the prepared words vanished from her mind.
Chen Yansen smiled faintly, about to sit back down and resume interviews, when he saw Xu Xingxing walking in cheerfully.
“I’m swamped—no time for your games. Go wait over there,” Chen Yansen frowned, waving her off.
“I’m here to interview too—don’t you want me?” Xu Xingxing didn’t mind, grinning.
“What can you do?”
Chen Yansen crossed his arms, staring straight at her, tone casual.
“Whatever you want me to do, I’ll do it.”
Xu Xingxing tiptoed, blew warm breath onto Chen Yansen’s face, whispering.
“Really? I still need a cleaning lady.” Chen Yansen smirked teasingly.
“Cleaning? I’m great at it—been class hygiene officer since childhood.”
Xu Xingxing didn’t flinch, smiled with narrowed eyes, revealing a row of neat teeth, lips glistening with the same lipstick as yesterday.
“Alright, I’ll show you my glow-in-the-dark ID next time—today’s too busy.”
Chen Yansen nodded toward the long line outside the door.
“I’m not joking—I really want to interview. You’re short-staffed, aren’t you?” Xu Xingxing’s smile faded, her tone serious.
“HR, admin, plus cleaning lady—can you handle all that?”
Chen Yansen, seeing her sincerity and remembering his staffing shortage, replied.
“How many salaries for so many jobs?” Xu Xingxing paused, then laughed.
“Dreaming too big? One salary—take it or leave it?” Chen Yansen rolled his eyes, annoyed.
He turned to leave.
“Fine, I’ll do it,” Xu Xingxing muttered under her breath, “Chen the Skinflint,” then forced a laugh.
“What are you standing around for? Go collect resumes first, then sweep the floor.”
Chen Yansen immediately assigned tasks.
“Got it, Boss Chen!” Xu Xingxing slumped, voice flat—this bastard really was treating her like a cleaning lady.
Chen Yansen ignored Xu Xingxing and continued interviews. Later, Wang Zihao arrived with breakfast; they interviewed together and selected two sharp third-year students to learn SEO and ad placement under Wang Zihao.
With Zhu Xiaopeng and Meng Yaqin’s arrival, Chen Yansen’s recruitment round ended—since these weren’t technical roles, as long as applicants had normal intelligence and emotional intelligence, he didn’t demand much.
With over a dozen new hires, FoxTao’s team expanded to twenty-two members; the previously empty Room 208 became crowded.
Chen Yansen paused, pulled a plastic bag from a cabinet, and walked into Cao Dahua’s office.
“Director Cao, yesterday I passed through Shidu and bought two cans of tea—but only after paying did I remember I don’t drink tea. Since I know you enjoy tea, I brought it to you.”
Chen Yansen smiled, plopped onto Cao Dahua’s sofa, acting as if they were old friends.
The excuse was ridiculous, but Cao Dahua clearly didn’t care.
“Chen Yansen, in the Entrepreneurship Park, between you and me, it’s purely teacher-student. Calling me Director Cao is too formal—just call me Teacher Cao.”
Cao Dahua, relying on muscle memory, smoothly pulled open his drawer, beaming.
“Clang!”
Chen Yansen shoved the two tea cans into the drawer; Cao Dahua closed it with equal skill.
The two moved in perfect sync, like longtime friends, needing no eye contact.
“Teacher Cao, I hired more people today—our office is getting cramped.”
After delivering the gift, Chen Yansen cut the pleasantries and spoke bluntly.
"How many rooms? Desks are already here—no problem. I’ll have a few students help you move them up later."
After hearing this, Cao Dahua immediately patted his chest and said.
"One room is enough—Room 204," Chen Yansen replied.
Cao Dahua nodded, set down his teacup, rummaged through a box on the desk for the key to Room 204, and tossed it to Chen Yansen.
Chen Yansen caught the key, chatted casually with Cao Dahua for a few more minutes, then slowly made his way back upstairs.
"Senior Sen, who’s that girl mopping the floor?" Zhang Wenbo, just back from vacation, stood at the door and asked upon seeing Chen Yansen.
"Oh, the new cleaning lady."
Chen Yansen replied offhandedly.
"Senior Sen, you’re always joking—such a beautiful girl, you really think she’s a cleaner?" Honest Zhang Wenbo didn’t believe it for a second and grinned.
"Xu Xingxing, catch! Clean Room 204 before you finish your shift!"
Chen Yansen said, tossing the key to Room 204 to Xu Xingxing and adding the instruction.
"Yes, Boss Chen!"
Even with the air conditioning on, Xu Xingxing was drenched in sweat from working; hearing Chen Yansen assign her more tasks, she gritted her teeth and agreed.
"Huh!? She’s really a cleaner?"
Zhang Wenbo stared in shock, mouth slightly open, utterly incredulous.
Masters, please support.
