Chapter 263: The Shamaness Favored by the Great Witch

Bao Yue, mustering his courage, said nervously: "Within this month, the Huo Mother Elixir began appearing in other territories, and it is said to have originated from the hand of a Shamaness, but the females in those other territories have only just started taking the Huo Mother Elixir, and we don't yet know what the results will be."

He continued: "It is said the Huo Mother Elixir only works on females without Pheromone. I went to Lei Ting Continent and Sa Jin Continent to investigate, and those who took the Huo Mother Elixir were confirmed to be females without Pheromone."

Lin Manzhi was surprised by this result.

Could it be that the Wushen Temple found a new elixir, so they are looking for test subjects? Just as she has Chinese medicinal herbs, after confirming the effect, Mo Lie publicly summons Beastfolk volunteers to try the elixir.

She knows clearly that these are harmless, and they are their own family members volunteering, unlike that Shamaness who first concealed her identity, advertised everywhere, then sold the medicine.

There's another point she cares about.

That is, if the Huo Mother Elixir truly works, why did the females who tested it in Ansen City... not retain the offspring they became pregnant with?

Huo Mother Elixir... Huo Mother Elixir...

Here Lin Manzhi lowered her eyes and pondered, feeling that she had heard the name somewhere, yet she just couldn't recall it.

Beside her, Mo Lie asked lightly, "Who is this Shamaness?"

"We haven't investigated yet, and the name of this Shamaness hasn't spread outside," Bao Yue said with an ashamed lowered head, resigning, "This Shamaness is on Mountain Classic Beast Temple island; we can't enter, please have the Lord punish us."

Mo Lie lifted his calm, unruffled blue eyes, glanced at Bao Yue, and said, "Stay near the Mountain Classic Beast Temple island to continue the investigation; as soon as you have information, report back to me immediately."

Bao Yue was greatly surprised.

This... this wasn't punished?!

He had previously known the temperament of Young Master Mo Lie of Ansen City; failing to complete a task is a failure... according to the legion's rules, it warrants a punishment of a hundred sticks.

Because this time he didn't meet the Lord's request to uncover the mastermind behind the Huo Mother Elixir, he followed Hua Zheng, expecting to be punished.

But this...?

Bao Yue stared dumbfounded as he followed Hua Zheng in a formal bow and retreated; reaching the doorway he didn't encounter anyone to seize him for the stick punishment, and his legs felt weak on the white stone slabs.

Hua Zheng laughed and looked at the unpromising Bao Yue beside him.

"The Lord can be so merciful to his subordinates, thanks to our Lord's Wife, you know," he took the chance to explain Lin Manzhi's importance to Bao Yue.

"Oh..."

Having personally met the Lord twice, Bao Yue now understood.

He followed Hua Zheng out of the Lord's Residence, almost praying in his heart.

May the Beast God protect the Lord's Wife beside the Lord; may she never suddenly change her heart and leave the Lord, but stay forever by his side! Having a Lord's Wife is truly wonderful!!

The Shamaness elders on the Mountain Classic Beast Temple island were jubilant because their lineage produced a Shamaness named Lin Ling, who created an Huo Mother Elixir that enhances Beastfolk reproduction.

Moreover, this elixir received great attention from the reclusive Great Witch.

It changes the predicament of the powerful Beastfolk's offspring: females without Pheromone who drink the elixir and spend time close to a powerful male beast will become pregnant with the other species' offspring.

In their lives of over a hundred years, they had never heard of such a miraculous elixir; previously, Su Li, who brought Holy Maiden Fruit and other medicines, and the shamanic attendant Lin Ling, who presented Concentrated Spirit Dew, were both candidates for Great Witch, and their hearts leaned toward Su Li.

Moreover, at that time the Great Witch also favored the Shamaness Su Li, who could control a continent's Wushen Temple; the reason she agreed to give Lin Ling a postponed selection for Holy Shamaness was that Lin Ling publicly presented the legendary Concentrated Spirit Dew.

Everyone thought that way then; no one remembered that Lin Ling publicly said she would make an elixir that doesn't require Pheromone threads.

Those who remembered, the Shamaness elders treated it as a joke, waiting to see the naive shamanic attendant's laugh.

They never imagined.

Within just a few months, Lin Ling secretly came that day and, before the Great Witch and twelve of them, produced an elixir that shocked the whole world.

This elixir looks like dried grass, but it truly doesn't need Pheromone threads to refine its essence; instead, the whole packet is tossed into a pot to simmer for half an hour, and you just drink the broth!

She also brought her experimental results: for example, she brought a remote tribe from her birthplace, Ansen City, where a female named Xi Tao had been bonded with a Beast Husband for years without conceiving, but after taking the elixir, she successfully gave birth to a pair of offspring.

It is said that recently, miraculously, she is no longer in the heat period and became pregnant again!

The Great Witch's scouts reported that this was indeed true.

Over the years, this never-before-seen novel method of making medicine, even though it came from a minor shamanic attendant, still earned the Great Witch's favor.

At that time they not only promoted Lin Ling to Shamaness, but also appointed her as the Great Witch's personal attendant Shamaness.

Today Lin Ling is the Shamaness most favored by the Great Witch, her reputation surpassing Su Li's; the Shamaness elders know there is no surprise.

Lin Ling is the next—Great Witch.

Lin Ling has been having a blast these days.

For several consecutive days she used her uniquely special Pheromone to cloud the Great Witch's mind; the Great Witch regards her as a successor and values her greatly.

Now in the Mountain Classic Beast Temple, anyone who sees her must bow their heads, and no one dares to give her a cold stare.

Emerging from the Great Witch's sleeping chamber, Lin Ling ran into Su Li, who was being blocked outside by a shamanic attendant.

Looking at her former opponent Su Li, who was holding a dark green round object, Lin Ling let out a lofty cold snort, "Isn't this our Shamaness Su? The Great Witch just went to sleep and no one is around; what do you want by looking for the Great Witch? Just say it."

Su Li's face was full of anger: "Don't think being favored by the Great Witch makes you great; remember you're not the Great Witch yet, you have no right to point fingers at me."

She lightly laughed: "I have a matter concerning the elixir I want to ask the Great Witch; can you answer for me?"

"You!"

Lin Ling felt a flash of guilt when she heard the elixir mentioned.

Don't panic, don't panic!

I haven't advertised to those lowly females without Pheromone Value who made the elixir; I only used the Wushen Temple's name, and knowing the creator is just among the dozen or so Shamaness elders in the Wushen Temple...

The male beasts the Great Witch sent out had already been taken by me in my Beast Attendant position, and the wind all tilted to my side.

As for any future incidents, she had already planned thoroughly; by then she had already become the Great Witch, acting before the females' birthing events occurred.

First, bring Diao Yi in; then she will separate the dozen Shamaness elders from Su Li, saying there's a secret matter concerning the Great Witch's will to discuss, letting Diao Yi assassinate those old females, and then frame it as… Su Li's doing.

It was Su Li, jealous of her talent to become Great Witch, who drugged the females, killing over a hundred of them, and also slaughtered all the Shamaness elders who knew.

Indeed, that's the truth.

Even the most thorough plan can't match a high-ranking person's word; she is already the Great Witch, so whatever she says is final.
